Dada a transmis l’amour

Thirty- two-year old Giovanni Quintella Bezerra, a doctor in Brazil, was reportedly arrested this week after allegedly sexually assaulting a pregnant woman in the middle of a C-section surgery at Vilar dos Teles Women’s Hospital.

According to reports, Bezerra was suspected by his colleagues after his “odd behaviour” during various surgeries. As a result, nurses mounted a hidden camera directed at Bezerra to record him during a surgery on a pregnant woman who was having a C-section. The video, which went viral, shows Bezerra positioning himself near the patient’s mouth, allegedly inserting his penis into her mouth while she was in labour. Bezerra then appears to wipe the patient’s mouth after the incident to hide any trace of the alleged assault on the pregnant woman.

Reacting to the incident, the Governor of the State of Rio de Janeiro said:

I was appalled to learn of the brutal case of the anesthesiologist at the Hospital da Mulher, in S?o Jo?o de Meriti, filmed raping a patient. I determined that there should be rigor and speed in the investigation of the very serious complaint. The Government of RJ will provide all necessary support and support to the victim.

Bezerra has now reportedly been indicted for rape of a vulnerable person, the penalty for which ranges from 8 to 15 years in prison. Other sexual assaults during surgeries are also suspected, but the suspected acts were not captured on video.

St James man extradited to US over lottery scam, facing 16 counts | Loop Jamaica

Black Immigrant Daily News

A resident of St James, who was extradited to the US, made his initial appearance in federal court in Pennsylvania on Tuesday, in relation to his alleged participation in a phoney sweepstakes scheme that targeted elderly people.

Damone D Oakley, 40, of the Point District, St James, was charged in a 16-count indictment with mail and wire fraud.

The indictment was filed in the US District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania in June 2021.

According to the indictment, Oakley sought to unlawfully enrich himself through a fraudulent sweepstakes scheme targeting the elderly.

Victims throughout the United States received mailings, text messages or phone calls in which they were falsely told that they had won millions of dollars and luxury vehicles in sweepstakes, but first needed to pay taxes and fees in order to claim their winnings.

The indictment alleges that Oakley, using a variety of names — including, Officer Alex Logan and Officer Stan Valentine — instructed his victims on how to send their money, including through the use of wire transfers, direct bank deposits, the US Postal Service and private commercial mail carriers.

Victims were allegedly directed to send money directly to Oakley as well as to individuals in the United States and elsewhere who served as intermediaries and transmitted the money to Oakley.

In addition to sending cash or wire transfers, the indictment alleges that victims were directed to purchase electronics, jewellery and clothing, and to then have the purchased items shipped to mail forwarding services in Florida. The victims never received any “winnings”.

Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General Brian M Boynton, head of the Justice Department’s Civil Division, said: “The Department of Justice’s Consumer Protection Branch is committed to pursuing criminals who defraud vulnerable US consumers — both domestically and abroad — and to prosecuting them to the full extent of the law.

“This is the first extradition requested by the United States in accordance with the evidentiary rules contained in Jamaica’s recently revised Extradition Act, and we are encouraged by the streamlined extradition process that led to the defendant’s appearance in federal court to face these charges.”

Said US Attorney Gerard M Karam for the Middle District of Pennsylvania: In the Middle District of Pennsylvania, we are proud to prioritise and prosecute individuals who engage in such acts and commend our law enforcement partners who help make these results possible.”

St Catherine’s most wanted busted in Cayman after high drama | Loop Jamaica

Black Immigrant Daily News

A St Catherine man wanted for multiple murders in Jamaica was arrested in Cayman on Friday after a brief showdown with armed police officers.

The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) has confirmed that Rudolph Shaw, otherwise called ‘Boxer’ or ‘Boxa’, was captured in the Cayman Islands on Friday, July 8.

Shaw was captured in the George Town area around 12:30 pm during a targeted operation by the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service following a collaboration between Jamaican law enforcement, the Jamaican police reported.

It is reported that officers from the Firearms Response Unit travelling in a marked service vehicle approached a vehicle with two occupants, one of whom was the wanted man. The two men attempted to evade the lawmen and rammed into the police vehicle, causing their own vehicle to become disabled. Police captured Shaw, but the other man escaped on foot.

The JCF said Shaw was previously pursued in Jamaica by the Joint Anti-Gang Task Force (JAGTF) and other Police units but managed to elude capture before leaving the island by boat.

After pursuing several lines of investigation, in addition to boosting public awareness through social media publications, information was received that Shaw was in the Cayman Islands.

“This was a collaborative process, which ultimately led to his capture. Shaw is wanted in connection with multiple murders and several incidents of shootings in St Catherine, and is considered to be one of the most wanted men in both Police divisions in the parish.”

Black Immigrant Daily News

DE NOVO Energy has announced that it has achieved first gas from its Zandolie field off the west coast of Trinidad.

In a media release on Wednesday, De Novo said the unmanned minimal facility is the second offshore facility owned by the ProMan subsidiary.

“De Novo has once again proven its commitment to increasing TTs gas supply by developing standard and marginal gas reserves,” De Novo said in the release.

The De Novo Zandolie platform is a single-well, conductor-supported platform with a capacity of 40 mmscfd. De Novo invested US$52 million to build the platform which took 31 months to build.

The release added that the platform is the first of its kind, being powered by wind and solar energy. It was also fully fabricated by local personnel.

Minister of Energy Stuart Young commended the company on its first gas achievements.

“I am very pleased to witness this successful milestone achieved by De Novo,” Young said. “The story of fabrication, skills and personnel used by Zandolie proves that it can be done”
