Plusieurs agressions armées commises ce dimanche en Guadeloupe

Au Gosier, aux Abymes ou encore à Petit-Canal, les forces de l’ordre ont dû intervenir à plusieurs reprises après des agressions armées.
Les forces de police et gendarmerie ont été sollicitées pour plusieurs agressions ce dimanche (31 juillet)
Tout d’abord, deux jeunes hommes de 19 et 20 ans étaient arrêtés dimanche matin par les services de police puis placés en garde à vue, après avoir dérobé un scooter et une sacoche sur le parking de l’aquarium du Gosier. Alors que le propriétaire du scooter était garé sur le parking, les forcenés n’hésitaient pas à le frapper puis prendre la fuite avec son véhicule.
Plus tard, en début de soirée à la Résidence les Carbets, aux Abymes, un jeune homme de 20 ans était victime du vol de son portable par plusieurs individus non cagoulés. Le groupe tabassait le jeune homme l’obligeant à se réfugier à son domicile, blessé à l’oreille et à la lèvre supérieure. Grâce à la description faite par la victime, les forces de l’ordre interpellaient 2 des auteurs.
Enfin à Petit-Canal, peu après minuit, la gendarmerie était contactée suite à une agression par arme à feu d’un homme de 19 ans.La victime était conscienteconscient mais présentait une grave blessure hémorragique à la jambe. Dans un état inquiétant, la victime a été conduite au CHU par les secours.

Denmark donates moderna COVID-19 vaccines to Antigua and Barbuda

The Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment would like to thank the Government of Denmark for a donation of 5000 doses of Moderna COVID-19 Vaccines to Antigua and Barbuda.
Director of Pharmaceutical Services, Alfred Athill received the donation on behalf of the Ministry.
Persons desirous of receiving the Moderna vaccine can avail themselves at the Villa Polyclinic from Mondays through to Thursdays from 8am to 4:30 pm and on Fridays from 8am to 3pm as of July 28th, 2022.
The Ministry would also like to advise citizens and residents that the Pfizer Vaccines which are remaining in Antigua and Barbuda will be expiring at the end of this month.
Persons who prefer to have the pfizer vaccine as their first dose, second dose or booster doses are encouraged to do so before the vaccines expire on July 31st, 2022.
Vaccines are administered at the Villa Polyclinic and the other main Health Centers on Mondays to Thursdays from 8am to 4:30pm and on Fridays from 8am to 3pm.
In addition, COVID-19 vaccines will be administered this weekend, Saturday 30th July 2022 at the Villa Polyclinic from 9am to 3pm.

Paul secures Commonwealth bronze in time trial

NICHOLAS PAUL became the most achieved Trinidad and Tobago cyclist at the Commonwealth Games when he captured bronze in the men’s 1000 metres time trial at Lee Valley VeloPark in Stratford, London, England on Monday.
Over the four-lap distance, Paul clocked a nippy one minute and 0.089 seconds (1:00.089) to earn his third medal in as many days; the largest haul from any TT cyclist at the Commonwealth Games.
On Sunday, Paul’s silver medal in the men’s sprint saw him join former national cyclists Roger Gibbon and the late Leslie King as the only riders from TT to ever earn two Commonwealth medals.
Monday’s time trial bronze however, saw him surpass the two local cycling legends with his well-executed third medal capture.
On Saturday, after winning gold in the keirin, he became the second TT cyclist to win gold on this stage, following Gibbon’s time trial victory, 56 years ago, at the 1966 Games in Jamaica.
Winning time trial gold ahead of Paul was Australian Matthew Glaetzer (59.505 seconds) while his countryman Thomas Cornish rode away with silver (1:00.036).
Paul is the only athlete from TT’s contingent to earn a medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games so far.

U.S.-Based Benefactor Collaborates With Do-Nation Foundation – St. Lucia Times News

U.S.-based photographer and owner of Brookes Media, Mark Brookes, has teamed up with local volunteer charity, Do-Nation Foundation, to help people in need.
Born in Antigua and Barbuda, Brookes has lived in New York for most of his life. A few months ago, he came to Saint Lucia on vacation and discussed with his sister that he would be returning for Carnival this year.
Prior to his return in July, he called a few friends to find out which charitable organizations he could help.
“The first person I spoke to online told me about the Boys’ Training Centre,” said Brookes.

“I reached out to the management and we decided on a barbecue, which everyone enjoyed.”
Brookes said a donation of printed shirts from his friend’s company — Public Parking — and a football was made to the youngsters at the Massade-based rehabilitation centre.
“In life, I think we all have to look out for each other. We all have bad days and good days. I do all of this in the name of my mom, Dorothy, who passed away in December 2020. She never liked to see people struggle,” he explained.
Brookes said his sister, Keisha, who owns an all-natural soap company, has decided tocollaborate with him to ship stuff down to Saint Lucia for the Boys’ Training Centre. Since she also has a lip gloss company, lip gloss will also be shipped down for young ladies.
“I’ll also be shipping down football uniforms and other items to the Boys’ Training Centre,” he added.
Brookes plans to return to Saint Lucia in December to help in any way he can. He said thathelping those in need was one of the many important lessons his mother taught him and his siblings as children.
“Even though I live paycheck to paycheck, every once in a while I can squeeze something out to help someone,” said Brookes.
Meanwhile, Diane Felicien, Do-Nation Foundation’s CEO/Founder, said Do-Nation Foundationis delighted to collaborate with Brookes Media, having been introduced to Brookes by one of Do-Nation Foundation’s members.
“We are delighted to have this relationship, as we believe in SDG Number 17, which is‘Partnerships for the Goals’,” said Felicien. “The main goal of Do-Nation Foundation is working towards changing the lives of our citizens, one person at a time.”
Felicien noted that Do-Nation Foundation has been able to achieve its goals through its recently-formed relationship with Brookes by helping a mother and father, both of whom are differently- able due to injuries they sustained. In the first instance, a mother, whose electricity supply was disconnected, had her bills paid and was reconnected. In the other instance, groceries were provided for a father and his son.
“We continue to seek ways in which we can help people and always encourage partnerships,” Felicien said. “That’s the only way we can achieve our goals. Therefore, we are grateful for the partnership with Mr. Brookes and look forward to a lot more in the future.”

Reportan doble asesinato a plena luz del día cerca de residencial en Ceiba

Un doble asesinato fue reportado a las 10:35 de la mañana del lunes, en la carretera 3, cerca de la entrada del residencial La Ceiba, en Ceiba, informó la Policía.
Según la Uniformada, se recibió llamada al cuartel de la Policía de Ceiba que alertó sobre disparos. Al llegar los agentes a la escena, encontraron el cuerpo de un hombre el cual aún no ha sido identificado. Éste presentaba múltiples heridas de bala en circunstancias que se encuentran bajo investigación.
En este incidente resultó herido de bala otro hombre el cual aún no ha sido identificado, fue transportado por paramédicos al Hospital Caribbean Medical Center de Fajardo, donde falleció.
Agentes adscritos al Cuerpo de Investigaciones Criminales (CIC) del área de Fajardo, continúan con la investigación.

Rosette-Orange gagne la première étape entre Le Vauclin et Le Robert. – JME
La yole franciscaine emmenée par Kenny Exilie remporte la 1ère étape ce lundi 1er août entre Le Vauclin et Le Robert.
La première victoire sur une étape du Tour est pourla yole franciscaine Rosette-Orange. Elle s’impose entre Le Vauclin et Le Robert, la ville d’arrivée. Bien placée au vent dès le départ, la yole a su garder son avance et est la première à franchir la bouée rouge, en 2 heures, 7 minutes et 48 secondes.
Elle devance Sara Energies Nouvelles / Autodistribution, arrivée en deuxième position, à 1 minute et 36 secondes et UFR – Chanflor, qui termine troisième à 1 minute et 57 secondes. Une petite déception pour Félix Mérine qui espérait gagner dans sa commune mais qui, à l’arrivée, a reconnu la supériorité de Rosette sur cette étape
« Mais le tour n’est pas fini ! », prévient-il.
Quatrième place pour GFA Caraïbes. Willian Saurin / Miltis est 5ème.

According to a report from Radio Cayman, the Cayman Islands Coast Guard reported that, before 8pm on Sunday night, 9-1-1 got a report of a capsized vessel with people in the water near 12 mile bank. The Coast Guard and RCIPS Air Operations Unit were deployed to search and rescue the people.
Shortly after taking off, the boat and it’s passengers were located by the RCIPS helicopter who relayed the coordinates to the responding Coast Guard Vessel already en route.
All three people were rescued and taken to George Town Harbour where they were met by medical first responders.
