Le pensionnaire du Pôle espoir d’haltérophilie a honoré samedi en Slovénie, sa première cape en équipe de France, lors du 56e Tournoi des Alpes. Le Marie-Galantais a établi quatre nouveaux records de France et a terminé deuxième français de la compétition. Depuis ses débuts en haltérophilie, il y a 3 ans, Hevy Nuiro a déjà parcouru beaucoup de chemin.
Pour sa première sélection nationale, l’haltérophile pointois n’a pas déçu. Avec une cinquième place à l’arrivée, Hevy Nuiro a réussi ses débuts internationaux en soulevant 255 kg (110 kg à l’arraché et 145 kg à l’épaulé-jeté). Si, sur l’épaulé-jeté, le Marie-Galantais a battu par deux fois son record, améliorant par la même occasion deux records de France dans sa catégorie, Hevy Nuiro a eu un résultat mitigé sur l’arraché. JMMB plans real estate projects in Kingston, Mandeville Loop Jamaica

The JMMB Group is looking to capitalise on the growth potential in the commercial real estate market, targeting the development of commercial, warehousing and business process outsourcing (BPO) projects over the next two to three years.
To this end, planning has begun for two projects in downtown Kingston and Mandeville, consisting of approximately 33,000 square feet and 30,000 square feet of commercial office and BPO spaces.
Tracey -Ann Creary, corporate development manager with portfolio responsibility for the management of JMMB’s land and property holdings, outlined the financial group’s strategic direction to leverage opportunities that will add shareholder value.
Creary said JMMB is actively identifying and pursuing projects which will grow its portfolio and respond to market needs and trends.
“These two multi-billion dollar projects are expected to be completed in the next two to three years, even while JMMB Group looks to roll-out other projects in its portfolio,” she said.
Tracey -Ann Creary is the corporate development manager with portfolio responsibility for the management of JMMB’s land and property holdings.
As a newer player in the real estate market, JMMB Group is looking to plan, design, develop and construct properties and later bring to market for sale, lease or sale-leaseback.
“Real estate is not static, and as an innovator in the field, we are open to lucrative opportunities that are in keeping with our portfolio focus, and therefore will explore joint-ventures and other partnerships,” Creary said.
She noted that partnerships would enable JMMB Group to deepen and expand its reach in the real estate market, meet the investment and strategic performance criteria, and fulfill our business objectives, thereby providing returns for our stakeholders.
Over the long-term, JMMB Group will continue to build out its portfolio of greenfield and brownfield projects for other commercial projects that can facilitate agile working and other uses.
“With the Jamaican government and private stakeholders undertaking key infrastructural projects, such as the Southern Coastal Highway Improvement and the development of town centres in Morant Bay and other rural towns, we believe that this signals clear opportunities to undertake real estate projects that will create significant value that are broadly aligned with national development and Jamaica’s Vision 2030 plans.”
Investment in commercial real estate, aligns with the changing economic environment with the growing need for warehousing, business process outsourcing space and related projects that will support infrastructure development, the JMMB executive added.

Briana Williams joins Titans International Track Club in Kingston Loop Jamaica

After being under the care of mentor and coach Ato Boldon for 10 years in the USA, Olympic 4x100m gold medallist Briana Williams will return to Jamaica to join Titans International Track Club.
The 20-year-old Williams will now be coached by Gregory Little and Michael Frater.
“Briana, by her admission, has grown comfortable over the last season and needs to be more challenged, so with my blessing and encouragement, she’ll be joining Michael Frater and Gregory Little’s group,” Boldon told Sportsmaxtv. “From the beginning, she and I knew I’d have to hand her off to someone who could coach her full time and as she turns 21 soon, now is the time.
Trinidadian Boldon, a former 200m world champion and four-time Olympic medallist, further said that “this is the next chapter in her development and I’ll continue to advise and guide her, as I have since she was 10.”
Under the guidance of Boldon, Williams ran a World Under 15 age-group 100m record of 11.13 in 2018.
That same year, she won three gold medals -100m, 200m, and 4x100m – in the Under 17 category at the Carifta Games and was named winner of the coveted Austin Sealy Award.
Later that year, at age 16 and competing at the Under-20 World Championships in Tampere, Finland, Williams won the 100m in 11.16 before setting a new national Under-20 record of 22.50 while winning the 200m.
In doing so, she broke the previous Under-20 record held by the iconic Veronica Campbell-Brown.
Williams agreed that it was time for a change.
“I’m excited about this new chapter and happy to be training in Jamaica,” said Williams.
“I have to thank coach Ato for how much he has done for me and my career so far. He will always be a father figure to me.”
Williams, a Nike athlete, is a Digicel Brand Ambassador.

Saint Lucia, Georgia Conclude Visa Waiver Agreement – St. Lucia Times News

Saint Lucia and the Republic of Georgia have concluded a visa waiver agreement that will facilitate travel between the two countries.
The agreement was signed in New York on Monday 19th September, by St. Lucia’s External affairs Minister, Hon. Alva Baptiste and Georgia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Ilia Darchiashvili.
The Agreement will facilitate the travel of nationals of the two countries to each other’s territory without a visa not exceeding ninety (90) days in any one hundred eighty (180) days period.
Honourable Alva Baptiste noted that this latest initiative with Georgia sets the stage for further meaningful contact and people to people exchanges, which are extremely useful in international relations, adding that the Agreement signals his administration’s commitment to meaningfully strengthen ties with countries with which Saint Lucia shares bilateral relations.

Honourable Alva Baptiste is in New York for the 77th Session of the United Nations General Assembly which opened in New York on Monday 20th September.
Honourable Baptiste is expected to attend a number of other high level bilateral and multilateral meetings during his seven day stay in New York.

Poder Judicial modifica plan especial de operaciones en todas sus dependencias

En consideración a las circunstancias latentes en el país ante el paso del huracán Fiona, el director administrativo de los Tribunales, Sigfrido Steidel Figueroa, informó el miércoles, el plan especial de operaciones del Poder Judicial para el jueves 22 y viernes 23 de septiembre de 2022.
Las Salas de Investigaciones en las trece regiones judiciales operarán en horario regular para la atención de asuntos de competencia municipal. Asimismo, jueces y juezas de competencia superior estarán disponibles para atender asuntos urgentes. Por su parte, las Secretarías en las regiones judiciales, así como en el Tribunal de Apelaciones y el Tribunal Supremo de Puerto Rico, operarán para recibir documentos físicos. Igualmente, el Sistema Unificado de Manejo y Administración de Casos (SUMAC) está en funciones para tramitar casos civiles por la vía electrónica.
Los asuntos judiciales con vistas señaladas para el jueves 22 o el viernes 23 de septiembre de 2022 se recalendarizarán. No obstante, si ambas partes así lo acuerdan, podrán solicitarle al juez o jueza que mantenga la fecha de la vista según pautada, ya sea para celebrar una vista virtual o presencial, siempre que la sede judicial está disponible para ello.
Según dispuso el Tribunal Supremo de Puerto Rico en la resolución EM-2022-005, los términos que vencieran entre el lunes 19 y el viernes 23 de septiembre de 2022 quedarían extendidos hasta que se reanuden las labores en los tribunales y así se anuncie. Igualmente, las órdenes de protección ex parte que tenían señalamientos entre el lunes 19 y el viernes 23 de septiembre de 2022 se extenderán automáticamente.
Se le recuerda a la comunidad que la Sala Municipal Virtual también opera de 8:30 am a 10:00 pm para atender asuntos urgentes. En esta se podrán presentar de manera electrónica solicitudes de órdenes de protección, de ingreso involuntario por salud mental y otros asuntos urgentes de competencia municipal.
El personal supervisor deberá personarse a sus centros de trabajo y convocar al personal que sea necesario de cara a la normalización de las operaciones en las dependencias. El director administrativo enfatizó que las personas convocadas que enfrenten alguna situación que le impida comparecer a su centro de trabajo, o que entienda que su seguridad está en riesgo, deberá notificarlo a su supervisor inmediato.

Localizan sin vida hombre desaparecido en Dorado

Personal de varias unidades especializadas del Negociado de la Policía de Puerto Rico, mediante una labor de rescate, localizaron sin vida en la mañana de hoy en el Río La Plata en Dorado a Miguel Jalli Bartel de 62 años, quien fue visto por última vez 18 de septiembre, luego de salir de su turno de trabajo de la fábrica Pan American Grain de este municipio.
De acuerdo a la información preliminar, luego de que se reportara una querella de persona desaparecida y se cursara por las redes sociales, un vehículo arrastrado por la corriente del río junto a la imagen de Jalli Bartel, el CIC de Vega Baja entrevistó a familiares y comenzó la búsqueda junto al personal de la Superintendencia Auxiliar en Investigaciones Criminales (SAIC), así como de Las Fuerzas Unidades de Rápida Acción (FURA).
Se informó que el helicóptero de FURA, localizó el cuerpo del hombre, en un solar yermo, colindante al Río La Plata a unos 300 pies aproximadamente del vehículo Toyota Tercel color verde que se encontraba sumergido.
Esta labor de rescate e investigación fue realizada por el coronel Roberto Rivera, director del SAIC, el coronel José Rodríguez Rivera, director de FURA y del teniente Reinaldo Jiménez, director del CIC de Vega Baja. Este esfuerzo fue compartido con agentes de la Unidad de Rescate de Toa Baja y Dorado y de la Motorizada, entre otros.

Representante por los pueblos de Cayey y Cidra denuncia ineficiencia de LUMA Energy

El representante por el Distrito 29, José Aníbal Díaz Collazo expresó hoy estar molesto e insatisfecho con el desempeño deficiente y el trabajoprácticamente inexistente de la empresa LUMA Energy para restablecer el servicio de energía en los municipios de Cayey y Cidra.
“Es inaceptable que el ente que tiene la obligación ministerial de atender la emergencia que implica la falta de luz tras el paso del huracán Fiona brille por su ausencia en la situación que vive el país. La inmovilización de sus recursos humanos y la evidentedesorganización en la logística de las labores coloca en riesgo la vida y seguridad de nuestros representados en los pueblos de Cayey y Cidra”, manifestó el Legislador.
Díaz Collazo hizo un llamado al gobernador Pedro Pierluisi y a la empresa LUMA Energy exigiéndoles que se desplieguenbrigadas para su Distrito 29 y todo el país, dejando la zona cómoda bajo la creencia de que el pueblo ya está resignado a no contar con ese servicio esencial ante eventos como el huracánFiona, aún cuando vastas zonas del país no fueron impactadasdirectamente por el fenómeno atmosférico.
“Es importante recalcar que la ausencia del servicio afecta la calidad de vida de todas las familias puertorriqueñas, ya que sin el sistema de electricidad también se afecta el servicio de aguapotable, otro que es vital para el quehacer diario de nuestragente”, añadió el Representante.
“Mientras los alcaldes y alcaldesas han estado recorriendo todoslos barrios y las zonas afectadas de nuestros pueblos recogiendoescombros y suministrando agua y alimentos, los funcionariosde LUMA son los grandes ausentes y así lo hemos confirmado. El pueblo nos está exigiendo a todos poner de nuestra parte y hay quienes le estamos cumpliendo. Por esa razón, nos unimosal reclamo del pueblo que dice basta, y exigimos accióninmediata de parte de LUMA, y el gobierno central en estasituación de emergencia”, reclamó Díaz Collazo.

Tropical Storm Gaston forms in the North Atlantic Loop Barbados

The seventh Atlantic named storm of the 2022 Atlantic Hurricane Season has formed – Tropical Storm Gaston.
The US National Hurricane Centre (US NHC) in its latest update said Tropical Storm Gaston was located about 990 miles West of the Azores.
NHC says there are no coastal watches or warnings in effect however interests in the Azores should monitor the progress of the system.

At 9 pm GMT (2100 UTC), the centre of Tropical Storm Gaston was located near latitude 34.7 North, longitude 44.4 West. Gaston is moving toward the north-northeast near 17 mph (28 km/h). A turn to the northeast is expected on Wednesday, followed by a motion to the east.
Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 40 mph (65 km/h) with higher gusts. Additional strengthening is forecast during the next day or two. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 70 miles (110 km) from the centre.
