PHILIPSBURG — Mark Mingo is back and he wants everybody to know that he is not going anywhere. Despite his trials leading up to his acquittal for complicity in robbing the port of millions of dollars, Mingo has maintained a positive attitude. He has used his time studying law and is currently contemplating option for his future.

In an interview on the radio program The Review, Mingo declined to answer the question whether he will be a candidate in a future election. At the same time, he has emphasized that he is not going away and that he expects the government to present him with a decent settlement to compensate for the loss of his job at the harbor group of companies.

Mingo said in yet another radio-interview (with Billy D.) that he wants to keep his talks with the government about a settlement confidential.

Mingo nevertheless hinted that he might get into politics: “If I am going into politics I am going to bring back the COHO,” he said, adding that his is an issue he would want to discuss.

The former port-director also suggested to bring back the Dutch Participation Company; not to let the Dutch run the show but to arrive at a form of cooperation that is beneficial to St. Maarten.

First and foremost, Mingo said, the country needs to generate revenue, because the economy is in a shambles. He suggested to introduction of a C02-tax to strengthen the economy. “We need to start that discussion now,” he emphasized.

Another method of increasing government-revenue is by collecting taxes. Mingo suggested abolishing the RST and using its $21 million budget to bring FIOD-inspectors to the islands. These officers could help St. Maarten collect taxes.

The burglar caught on camera

Police are on the hunt for a man and his accomplice after he forcefully entered a shop in New Amsterdam, Region Six on Friday evening.

The masked burglar was caught on surveillance cameras after breaking into Shanta’s Grocery situated at Stanleytown, New Amsterdam. This is the third time in recent months that the business place has been burglarised.

Javid Benjamin called “Anthony”, speaking on the most recent incident, said his mother saw the thief in the shop when she opened to door at around 04:00h on Saturday.

“We hear the dog barking and we get up, and when we check the camera, we see the individual in the shop so I start to make noise.”

Benjamin said he alerted the intruder that he was being seen on camera as he shouted for “thief”. With that, the perpetrator hurriedly left.

Surveillance footage shows that a car was waiting outside for the perpetrator.

Benjamin revealed that the thief took about $31,000 in items from the shop.

The suspect, he added, was in the shop the day before to make a purchase. A few days prior, the suspect had also gone into the shop, Benjamin recalled.

In June, a lone intruder had broken into the shop and carried away a number of items including bags of rice and beverages.

“I did not make a report to the Police the last time,” Benjamin explained.

Chrisean Rock’s father was allegedly knocked out by Blueface in a fight on Friday afternoon.

On Friday, a video surfaced of two persons fighting. An observer who took the video showed someone being laid out flat on the ground as he narrated that Blueface knocked the person out. In the video, there are cameramen with professional cameras running toward the men. In an Instagram story, Chrisean Rock explained that her father and the West Coast rapper got into an altercation.

“So my boyfriend knocked my dad out. Da family stuff didn’t go well. Ion even know what’s going on [red heart emoji],” she said as he hinted that they were in her home state to meet her family.

Chrisean Rock is a cast member on the show Baddies South produced by Natalie Nunn, but there are reports that the incident on Friday was being filmed for a new show.

The incident with Chrisean’s father took place at the Four Seasons hotel in Baltimore, where the couple was filming a meet and greet with her family for their own spin-off show on Zeus.

Blueface has been in physical altercations with his girlfriend Chrisean Rock several times over the past couple of months, and it seems her family is not a fan.

Meanwhile, a member of Chrisean’s family named Destiny was not pleased with how things went down. She fired off a message telling the reality star to come and fight her. “Y’all really played with my muscle. It’s forever f*** y’all [middle finger emoji],” Destiny said in another Instagram Story.

Destiny proceeded to add another Story post of her with a middle finger up. Meanwhile, Chrisean Rock responded on Twitter to the melee noting, “What hurts da most [is I don’t] have nothing to do [with] this sh*t forreal]. I was doing it for my family.”

Blueface also added a comment reacting to the video on his IG, “I’m her daddy now [laughing crying face emoji].”

Despite Chrisean being upset about Blueface knocking her father out in earlier posts, she seemed to have changed her mind later on Friday night.

“That same Dad tht got knocked out was the same guy that tied my mom up in da woods just to beat her cuz she screem so loud in the house wen he beated her in front of us so he went out his way to Damage my whole family that same dad I met wen I was 7,” she said. “Somebody was been supposed to knock that n***ga out a long time ago.”

Sources say the matter was not reported to the police.

Before performing the set, the artist is seen holding his ribs and visibly wincing as he addresses fans. “St. Louis, I’m so f***ing sorry I ruined the show tonight, ladies and gentlemen,” he said to fans who screamed ‘no’ in disagreement.
