A man has been arrested and charged with raping a 13-year-old girl at Marlie Gate in Old Harbour, St Catherine on Saturday, September 3.
The accused is 41-year-old Davion Rowe, otherwise called ‘Johnny Boy’, a chef of Old Harbour, St Catherine.
Reports from the Old Harbour police are that about 11:40 p.m., the teen went to a shop and while there, she went to use a bathroom.
She was then allegedly pounced upon by Rowe, who was armed with a knife, who subsequently had sex with her.
A report was made to the police, and an investigation was launched.
Rowe was later positively identified by the complainant, and was charged after a question-and-answer interview in the presence of his attorney.
His court date is being finalised.

Sections of Arnett Gardens in St Andrew are now tense following a murder at the Paradise Court apartments on Wednesday evening.
The deceased has been identified as Timothy Shedden.
According to residents, Shedden was sitting outside the apartments when he was approached by men on a motorcycle who opened gunfire hitting him to the upper body about 5pm.
He was assisted by residents to the hospital where he later died.
There was another shooting incident in Arnett Gardens the day before. Two men were shot and injured in a drive-by on West Road. However, no fatalities were reported.

Jamaica recorded 43 new COVID-19 cases over a 24-hour period up to Tuesday afternoon.
There was no coronavirus related death recorded for the one-day reporting period.
The overall coronavirus death toll in Jamaica remains at 3,269.
There were 58 recoveries on the day, bringing that tally to 97,212.
The newly confirmed COVID-19 cases brought the total number on record for the island to 150,401.
Notably, the island recorded a 16.9 per cent positivity rate based on the samples that were tested on Tuesday.
Of the newly confirmed cases, 24 are females and 19 are males, with ages ranging from three to 92 years.
The case count was made up of Kingston and St Andrew (nine), St Catherine (eight), Manchester (six), St James (five), Westmoreland (four), St Ann (three), Trelawny (three), Clarendon (two), St Elizabeth (two), and Hanover (one).
There are 33 moderately ill patients, five severely ill patients and two critically patients among 996 active cases now under observation in Jamaica.
A total of 109 COVID-19 patients are now hospitalised locally.

Maloney man who escaped death two years ago was gunned down on Wednesday afternoon.
Police said Tesfa Sutherland of Building 6, Maloney Gardens, was chased by his killers, cornered and shot dead at about 2 pm. He died near Building 9.
In a telephone interview with Newsday, Sutherland’s aunt Marsha Thomas said Sutherland had survived two years ago when someone was shooting “wild wild” and Sutherland was hit.
She said he was like “any other young man,” was helpful to his mother and very loving.
He had left home to visit a female friend in Building 9 before he was killed, she said.
Sutherland’s aunt blamed the community for his death, saying many young men, especially those of African descent, fall prey to gang violence, and those who refuse to join are also killed. She could not say if that was the case with Sutherland, who earlier this year was cleared of a robbery charge.
“I don’t know what was the reason he was killed,” she said.
Sutherland was one of two men killed between Tuesday night and Wednesday afternoon.
Police said that at about 7.25 pm on Tuesday, Cpl Beharry and PC Johnson responded to a report of gunshots at Sunshade Grocery along the Valencia Old Road, Valencia and found two men being attended to.
Police said Michael “TC” Trancoso, 26, who lived on the same compound as the grocery, and Calvin Lopez, 29, of Alexander Street, Valencia, were taken to the Sangre Grande Hospital.
Trancoso was declared dead at about 7.49 pm. Lopez remains in a critical condition.

Prime Minister Andrew Holness is assuring residents of Olympic Gardens that several strategies, including increased police presence and the installation of cameras, will be used to address gang violence that is affecting the area.
Holness’ assurances come after a spate of shootings in the community which resulted in at least two double murders on Tuesday, with a reported six deaths in total over recent days
A curfew, which began on 8pm on Tuesday and will continue until 8 pm on Thursday, has been imposed to address the violence in the area.
Holness, accompanied by the Minister of National Security, Dr Horace Chang and Police Commissioner, Major General Antony Anderson, on Wednesday walked sections of the community of Olympic Gardens that is located in the prime minister’s West Central St Andrew constituency.
In describing the murders as “gruesome”, Holness said they were likely gang-related.
“It would appear young men from the community involved in gang activities ended up in conflict, which has resulted in the loss of six lives,” he stated.
“We also believe that in addition to the gang conflict, there may be retaliation where innocent lives are involved,” he said.
The prime minister said the police have assured him that they are investigating the developments, and that they will leave no stones unturned in their probe.
“So far residents are fearful. They have expressed their fears, and so I am here to reassure them that we will have full coverage of the area, both in terms of static and dynamic police presence, but also in terms of intelligence gathering,” said Holness.
“We cannot allow such heinous crimes to be committed and the perpetrators face no consequences.
“This is my constituency; I love the people here; they are like my family and wherever crime happens – here or wherever in Jamaica – I literally take it very personally,” he declared.
To that end, he pledged the security forces’ commitment of ensuring that the necessary resources “are brought to bear and the perpetrators are brought to justice”.
In addition to the increased security manpower, Holness said overtime, cameras will be installed in the community help to identify those who are committing the murders.
“There are some other measures which we will put in place as well, including cameras.
“We have a project in place, unfortunately it is stuck in procurement and it’s not yet come to fruition. But I am going to try and fast-rack that because as you can see, these areas are properly laid
In noting that the mode of the commission of the recent murders was by drive-bys involving motor vehicles, Holnes said the cameras would have been “very useful in identifying the vehicles and, possibly, the licence plates.”
The prime minister said the residents have expressed fear, but they are not in support of the gang conflicts.
“I am expecting that we will get valuable and useful information to bring the perpetrators to justice,” Holness declared.

Surveillance footage has been shared on social media showing the brazen daytime attack against Trinidadian dancehall artiste Kalonji Arthur on September 2.
The incident, which occurred in the car park of The Brix Autograph Collection, saw Kalonji’s girlfriend, 25-year-old Bridget James, murdered one day after celebrating her birthday.
The video began with the Trinibad artiste, 25-year-old Kalonji, reversing into a space near the car park’s entrance around 2:15pm.
A silver vehicle then comes into the shot from another direction and waits until he stops. That vehicle had already been in the car park.
Shortly after, the suspects drove alongside Kalonji; two gunmen with rifles exited from both back doors and approached the artiste while spraying bullets at his car.
The one closest to Kalonji’s vehicle appeared to retreat while the other walked around the back of the getaway car firing relentlessly at Kalonji.
That gunman then re-entered the vehicle from the side he exited. His driver sped off.
Somehow, Kalonji survived. CCTV footage recorded him hopping out of his vehicle on one leg moments after his attackers escaped. His girlfriend was not so lucky.
She was shot multiple times to the upper body and died at the hospital. Meanwhile, the artiste underwent emergency surgery.
On September 1, Kalonji shared a photo of himself on his Instagram account at Krave Restaurant.
A commenter suggested that he hide his location to which he replied “My opz (opposition) low on gas money dey can’t get here”.
Many have speculated that this behaviour allowed individuals to track his whereabouts.
Who was Bridget James?
Trinidad and Tobago lost a bright light on September 2. James was described by relatives as compassionate, kind and hardworking.
She attended the Caribbean Union College in Maracas Valley, St Joseph, where she got seven ones after completing her Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC).
In June 2019, she was dubbed the Caribbean’s top performer in Advanced Financial Management by the local Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
After becoming an auditor, James recently left her job at an accounting firm. She had plans to head to the Cayman Islands in weeks. Her dream was cut short by her killers.
