A family’s beloved pet cat that’s been dodging airport personnel, airline employees, and animal experts since escaping from a pet carrier at Boston’s Logan International Airport about three weeks ago was finally caught Wednesday.

“Whether out of fatigue or hunger we’ll never know, but this morning she finally let herself be caught,” an airport spokesperson said of the cat named Rowdy in a statement.

Rowdy was given a health check and will be returned to her family.

“I’m kind of in disbelief,” said her owner, Patty Sahli. “I thought, ‘What are the odds we’re actually going to get her back?’ But I got a call this morning and I am just so shocked.”

Rowdy’s time on the lam began June 24, as Sahli and her husband, Rich, returned to the US from 15 years in Germany with the Army.

When their Lufthansa flight landed, the 4-year-old black cat with green eyes escaped her cage, in pursuit of some birds.

Soon Rowdy herself was on the receiving end of a chase, as her getaway set off a massive search involving airport and Lufthansa personnel, construction workers, and animal welfare advocates, as well as the use of wildlife cameras and safe-release traps.

Jamaica will be represented in the World Championships 200m final by all three women who swept the podium places in the 100m final.

Shericka Jackson, the pre-race favourite based on her outstanding form leading into the championships, was the most impressive in qualifying and has thrown down the gauntlet to the competition. She ran a blistering 21.67s to win her semifinal while easing down with nearly 50 metres to go.

Aminatou Seyni of Nigeria was second in 22.04 and Mujinga Kambundji of Switzerland third in 22.05.

Jackson’s 21.55s set at the Jamaica trials in June is the third fastest time in history over the distance and there have been talks that she could challenge Florence Griffith Joyner’s longstanding world record of 21.34s set in 1988.

There were some nervous moments for double Olympic champion Elaine Thompson-Herah who was made to wait before confirming her place in the final as a non-automatic qualifier.

This after finishing third in her heat in 21.97s, a season’s best, as she appeared to slow down while approaching the line.

Thompson-Herah who is known for her strong finish was leading with about 15 metres to go before being passed by eventual-winner Tamara Clark of the United States in 21.95s. The defending champion, Dina Asher-Smith of Great Britain was second in 21.96s.

Meanwhile, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce remains on course for the double as she was impressive in winning her heat in a season’s best 21.82s after her usual bullet start.

Abbey Steiner of the United States was second in 22.15s and also booked her place in the final.

Kanye West Felt Nicki Minaj Bodied Him On “Monster” Says Amber Rose

Black Immigrant Daily News

The content originally appeared on: Urban Islandz

Amber Rose says she worked in an A&R capacity for Kanye West and is the one who introduced him to Nicki Minaj in 2010, which led to their “Monster” collaboration.

In a new interview with Higher Learning Podcast, Amber Rose speaks about her role as an A&R for many of her ex-boyfriends, including Kanye West, whom she claimed did not know who Nicki Minaj was and whom she convinced to feature Nicki Minaj in what is now one of the biggest tracks for both artists.

“Monster” has become a bone of contention for Nicki Minaj and Kanye West as their strained relationship has taken on a different face. Last week, Minaj seemingly dissed Kanye during her Essence Fest performance when, after “Monster” came on, she told the DJ to cut the track, and she even had some choice words directed at Kanye.

Nicki Minaj referred to the Donda artist as a “clown.” It’s been speculated that Kanye has been holding back Minaj’s “New Body” remix featuring Minaj, and she and her Barbs fans are not pleased about it.

Amber Rose, on the other hand, offered some insight on what Kanye West thinks of Nicki Minaj as she shared that she put her on “Monster,” as Ye did not know who Nicki was at the time.

“I put Nicki on Monster,” she told hosts Van Lathan and Rachel Lindsay.

“He didn’t know who Nicki was then. I had Nicki pull up to the studio and I put her on Monster,” Amber reiterated to the shock of the hosts. “I saw her in the studio and said ‘this b*tch is talented as hell’ and I went back to Kanye and said ‘you need to put her on Monster’.”

She added that Kanye did not know the Queens rapper, and “he was like who what? No,” but still he let her listen to the track.

Amber Rose

The Slut Walk founder says that Minaj sent her verse right after listening to the song.

“We all had a conversation, she heard the song and then she came back the next day with the verse.”

Kanye West, who is rumored to have wanted to pull Minaj’s verse, was impressed and expressed it to Amber, who said that Minaj’s verse was “was too good.”

“He told me the same day like ‘how the f*ck you did you bring in a b**ch that killed me on my own song’”.

While some social media users have reacted with disbelief at the revelation, Minaj had acknowledged in interviews before that Amber was instrumental in the “Monster” collab.

In the meantime, Kanye has not responded to Minaj since her comment at Essence Fest. He has, however, unfollowed her on Instagram.

La guêpe à papier cultive la différence

Black Immigrant Daily News

The content originally appeared on: Martinique FranceAntilles

Novalie Perry, friends celebrate golden B-Day in Ja for #SupaNova50 Loop Jamaica

Black Immigrant Daily News

The content originally appeared on: Jamaica News Loop News

Carnival in Jamaica may be over for the 2022 season, but for Novalie Indira Perry – who opted for a Carnival-themed B-Day bash – it’s a time to ring in a new milestone: the big 5-0.

Perry is a Brooklyn-based entertainment lawyer and the mother of American singer Justine Skye (short for Skyers).

She is also the daughter of US Ambassador to Jamaica Noah Nickolas “Nick” Perry, the first person born in Jamaica, confirmed by the US Senate to be the Ambassador to Jamaica.

Naturally, Perry, a daughter of Rock soil, tapped Jamaican costume designer Simone Michelle to actualize her birthday wishes with a specially designed costume and invited family and friends to party with her at the Skylark Negril Beach Resort in Negril, Westmoreland.

Skye, who was decked out in matching miSim costumes along with her mom and clothing designer friend Raven Tracy, left this sweet message on her mom’s Instagram feed, wishing her a Happy Birthday, with love.

“Happy Birthday to my beautiful forever young mom @supanovaesq! You make 50 look phenomenal. All her friends and family came out to Jamaica to celebrate her and it’s been such a beautiful thing to witness. You are so loved and I hope if there ever was a doubt in life, that you feel it on this day, in this moment! Thank you for being my rock through it all. I LOVE YOU!

It is not clear whether Ambassador Nick Perry was in attendance, but apparent that ‘SupaNova’ is well-connected.

She invited several celebrity friends to party on The Rock, including Married to Medicine reality star Quad Webb Lunceford; Marcello “Cool” Antonio Valenzano, from the record-production and songwriting duo Cool & Dre; model and South Florida realtor Jazzma Kendrick; Def Jam Recordings Executive Vice-President Latrice Burnett, DJ Trauma, and more.

Last May, when Ambassador Perry was sworn in as the US Ambassador to Jamaica, ‘SupaNova’ was by her father’s side along with her brother Nikolas and their mother Joyce.

Nick Perry was born and raised in Jamaica, the fourth of five sons in a family of eleven children. He completed his secondary education at Kingston College, where he attended on a full scholarship.

He worked for the Bustamante Industrial Trade Union before departing for the United States in the summer of 1971.

He was confirmed by the US Senate to be the Ambassador to Jamaica on March 10 and is the first person born in Jamaica to hold this position.
