Leading global shipping & bespoke logistics company Peters & May has renewed its commitment to Antigua Sailing Week (ASW) by presenting the Round Antigua Race for the next 3 years.
The stand-alone race will continue to be referred to as the Peters & May Round Antigua Race until 2025.

CSA, CSA double-handed, multihull, and classic classes are invited to participate in this exciting race, a 52 mile circumnavigation of the island, popular with many ASW participants and open to yachts, whether or not entered in Antigua Sailing Week. In 2022, in response to an increase in CSA cruising class entries, race organisers offered the the option of a 26 mile course dubbed the Almost Round Antigua Race.
The shortened course will again be included this year to allow even more participants the opportunity to shake out their spinnakers, and get ready for the week ahead.
The Peters & May Round Antigua Notice of Race is now published and entries are open for the next edition which will be held on April 29.
The Peters & May Round Antigua Race prize-giving at the Antigua Yacht Clubs regatta village will be followed by the the official opening of the 54th Antigua Sailing Week which runs April 30 – May 5, 2023.

SAUDI Arabia created the first upset of the 2022 Qatar FIFA World Cup defeating one of the tournament favourites Argentina 2-1 in the Group C match on Tuesday.
Argentina captain Lionel Messi gave his team the lead in the tenth minute from the penalty spot.
Argentina would have been disappointed at half-time as three goals were disallowed for offside.
In the 48th minute, Saleh Al-Shehri ran onto a through ball and equalised for Saudi Arabia.
Five minutes later Saudi Arabia took a surprising lead when Salem Al-Dawsari cut in on his right foot after some neat dribbling and fired a shot into the net.
Saudi Arabia, ranked 51st in the FIFA world rankings, ended Argentina’s run of playing 36 games unbeaten. Argentina, two-time World Cup champions, are ranked third in the world.

La rémunération des grands patrons du CAC 40 en France a atteint un sommet à 7,9 millions d’euros en moyenne l’an dernier, soit plus de 100 fois celle de leurs salariés, selon un rapport publié mardi par le cabinet de conseil aux actionnaires Proxinvest.
L’étude constate “une forte hausse des rémunérations médianes et moyennes dans tous les indices (CAC 40 et SBF 120, NDLR). On est bien sur des records historiques”, a déclaré Jehanne Leroy, directrice de la recherche ESG (critères environnementaux, sociaux et de gouvernance) lors d’une visionconférence avec des médias.
Elles sont portées par les très bons résultats post-Covid des sociétés en 2021, sur lesquels des éléments de rémunération sont indexés.
La rémunération totale moyenne des patrons de l’indice CAC 40 a augmenté de 52%, tandis que celle des présidents exécutifs de l’indice SBF 120 composé des 120 plus grandes entreprises cotées en France a crû de 22% pour atteindre 4,5 millions d’euros.
Dans les deux cas, c’est du jamais-vu depuis quinze ans.
Ces chiffres 2021 ont été obtenus par comparaison à ceux de 2019, avant la crise sanitaire, et non par rapport à ceux de 2020 qui est considérée comme une année non représentative étant donné qu’un certain nombre de dirigeants avaient renoncé à une part de leur rémunération.
La hausse s’explique également par un “effet Carlos Tavares (le directeur général du groupe automobile franco-italo-américain) Stellantis (Peugeot-Citroën-Fiat…)”, dont la rémunération totale (fixe, variable, actionnariale) atteint un record jamais observé par Proxinvest, à 66,7 millions d’euros (19,15 millions d’euros selon l’entreprise).
“C’est la première fois depuis 15 ans qu’une société présente une rémunération totale supérieure à 50 millions d’euros”, selon le rapport.
La rémunération de Carlos Tavares avait été rejetée le 15 avril par les actionnaires de Stellantis, mais ce vote était purement consultatif aux Pays-Bas où est basée la société, contrairement à la France où un tel vote est contraignant depuis 2018.
La différence entre les chiffres du constructeur automobiles et ceux de Proxinvest s’explique par le recours à des méthodes de calcul différentes, les sommes correspondant à la rémunération pluriannuelle étant lissées sur plusieurs années par Stellantis.
Pour établir son classement, le rapport de Proxinvest prend en compte tous les éléments de rémunération: fixe, bonus annuel, rémunération pluriannuelle de long terme, attribution d’actions valorisées à leur date d’attribution, avantages en nature…
Tous ces éléments ont explosé l’an dernier. La rémunération fixe moyenne est en hausse de 4,2% et le bonus annuel moyen de 33,6% au sein du CAC 40, alors que la valeur des attributions d’actions gratuites de performance atteint son plus haut historique dans le SBF 120 avec un bond de 39,6%.
C’est aussi “la première fois en huit ans que la rémunération moyenne des dirigeants du CAC 40 représente plus de 100 fois la rémunération moyenne des salariés”, soit 369 fois le SMIC en base 39 heures, selon le rapport qui détecte un moins bon respect du plafond de rémunération maximale socialement acceptable (5,12 millions d’euros) calculé par Proxinvest.
En tout, 29 dirigeants dépassent ce plafond, contre 14 en 2020 et 24 en 2019, ce qui devrait relancer le débat sur le pouvoir d’achat des plus modestes, amputés en outre par l’inflation.
Sur la période 2014-2021, la rémunération moyenne des dirigeants a augmenté de 83,8%, soit trois fois plus vite que celle des salariés, qui a progressé de 23,9%.
Le cabinet Proxinvest, qui émet des recommandations de vote aux actionnaires pour les assemblées générales, se réjouit toutefois que, depuis 2021, toutes les sociétés du CAC 40 ont désormais intégré des conditions de performance ESG dans l’une des rémunérations variables du premier dirigeant.
Dans le top 5 des dirigeants les mieux payés figurent Carlos Tavares (66,7 millions d’euros), Bernard Charlès du groupe de logiciels Dassault Systèmes (44,1 millions d’euros, dont 40,8 millions de rémunération actionnariale), Daniel Julien de la société de centre d’appels Teleperformance (19,6 millions d’euros), François-Henri Pinault du groupe de luxe Kering (12 millions d’euros) et Paul Hudson du laboratoire pharmaceutique Sanofi (9 millions d’euros).

What are in the plans for St. Martin’s people? Nothing? At one time I brought notice to the then Minister of TEATT, Mr. Heyliger, about the taking away of the little beach from the people of Point Blanche close to Chesterfield’s restaurant and giving nothing back in return; as where to I did asked him in a personal conversation what about including a nice state of the art Gym, to the side of all that development, that especially Sucker Garden, Philipsburg, and Point Blanche people can use, not for free but a fee.
It would of been giving back to the people wherein when it comes that, St. Martin’s people are constantly being short changed.
Up to now St. Martin doesn’t have any official recreational park for its people, imagine that.Who is taking our people, our youth in consideration?
I cannot be a politician, and will never go into politics but someone has to look out for our young people. Seriously!

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, November 21, 2022 (SKNIS) – The Small Business Development Center (SBDC) within the Ministry of Small Business and Entrepreneurship concluded its Global Entrepreneurship Week celebrations with a well-supported Business Expo on November 18, 2022. Senior Business Advisor within the SBDC Mr. Delwayne Delaney described the business expo as a success.
“The expo was definitely a success. We had over 27 businesses in different sectors within the small business industry. We had a cross-section of businesses from haircare, skincare, technology, you name it, we had it present and on showcase. It was very important for us to have this event to give some of the small businesses exposure. These businesses have been doing great work but were not being seen at the forefront. In speaking to some of these businesses they mentioned that they enjoyed the exposure. Yes, they were able to make some sales but from the broader picture they were able to get the necessary exposure with the general public that may help grow their business in the long term,” said Mr. Delaney. The Ministry of Small Business and Entrepreneurship plans to increase government investment in small businesses by providing much-needed financing and training to business owners to help improve their marketing and productivity. “One of the things that we set out to achieve is the engagement of our manufacturers in a way in which we can see where their difficulties are so that we can provide a more targeted type of support. For instance, we would have an opportunity to look at the products and see things like costing to manufacture certain products to get them to market the cost of the imports at the border, and their ability to export products with logistics being a real impediment. With the items we had on display, we really need to get some of these items out in the region and we discussed with the small business owners how we can work together to make the situation better, particularly from a logistical standpoint. We are going to look into further training that will assist with cost evaluation in an effort to ensure that our local producers can remain competitive in the international marketplace,” said Director Mr. Philip Browne. Global Entrepreneur Week 2022 was celebrated under the theme “Building Forward Better- Creating Equality and Equity through Entrepreneurship”. The Small Business Development Centre is located on the 1st floor of the Nagico Building and all small business owners are encouraged to register their business with the unit.

Basseterre, St. Kitts, November 21, 2022 (SKNIS): The Department of Probation and Child Protection Services is using the week of November 20 to 25 to highlight children’s rights and emphasize the importance of protecting young people under the age of 18 years.
The period is being commemorated as Child Abuse Prevention Week in St. Kitts and Nevis. It seizes on the momentum of World Children’s Day observed annually on November 20 as well as the newly declared observation of World Day for the Prevention and
Healing from Child Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Violence on November 18, 2022.
In a televised address on Sunday, Junior Minister responsible for Social Development and Gender Affairs, the Honourable Isalean Phillip, said that authorities continue to receive reports of child abuse, that are troubling to the government.
“The Ministry of Social Development and Gender Affairs intends to increase awareness of this serious issue throughout the week, and beyond, by highlighting child abuse prevention strategies, strengthening alliances with community groups and stakeholders, and creating new partnerships that will ultimately lead to communities that provide safer environments for children and facilitate their holistic inclusion,” Honourable Phillip said.
She called on adults to learn more about the signs and symptoms of child abuse so that they can help extend the protection safety net for children.
“Parents with greater support systems tend to be more resilient, less isolated and therefore more likely to provide safer home environments for children,” the Junior Minister stressed. “As such, we must provide support for parents and families not only in the household but also in the workplace by seeking to implement family-friendly policies that encourage family cohesion.”
Adults were also encouraged to get involved in volunteerism so that they can positively engage children. Some options mentioned included becoming a scout leader, teaching a baking course for children, reading children’s stories at the local library, or teaching a Sunday school class.
“Having adults involved in these activities ensures that children are not only properly supervised but are also actively engaged in positive ways that help in growing their confidence and advancing their development,” Honourable Phillip expressed.
Staff from the Department of Probation and Child Protection Services are appearing on various media outlets this week to raise awareness of Child Abuse Prevention. On Wednesday, November 24, staff members will read to children attending public preschools, Thursday, November 25, there is a parenting workshop, and on Friday, November 26, there is a celebration dubbed Go Blue Day. This is in honour of the Blue Bear, which is the symbol of child sexual abuse awareness.
