Jovenel Moise: Four more people arrested over plot to kill Haiti’s president

US police have arrested four more people for alleged roles in the plot to assassinate Haitian President Jovenel Moise in 2021.

One of the suspects is the owner of a Florida-based security company, which authorities say hired Colombian ex-soldiers for the mission.

President Moise was shot and killed at his home in Port-au-Prince, reportedly by Spanish-speaking foreign mercenaries.

Eleven suspects are now in US custody.

According to the Justice Department (DOJ), Venezuelan-American Antonio “Tony” Intriago, who is the owner of Florida-based CTU Security, hired a squad of former Colombian soldiers for the operation. He has now been hit with a slew of charges, including conspiracy to kill or kidnap a person outside of the US.

A CTU company representative, Colombian citizen Arcangel Pretel Ortiz, has also been arrested.

A third suspect, Florida-based financier Walter Veintemilla, is accused of financing the plot to kill Mr Moise. His attorney told the Associated Press that he plans to plead not guilty.

The fourth suspect – Frederick Joseph Bergmann Jr – has been accused of smuggling ballistic vests as part of the plot.

“It is extremely important to bring (them) to justice,” said US Attorney for the Southern District of Florida Markenzy Lapointe. “We will deliver justice in the courtroom.”

US authorities had previously announced the arrest of seven men for their alleged role in the plot, including Haitian-American dual citizens James Solages and Joseph Vincent, and pastor and businessman Christian Emmanual Sanon.

Haitian police have said that Mr Sanon had “political objectives” to replace President Moise.

The DOJ believes that Mr Solages and Mr Vincent, along with Colombian national Germ?n Alejandro Rivera, originally planned to detain the Haitian president and fly him away from Haiti so that a new president could be installed. The plan was reportedly abandoned because they did not have an aircraft.

In a statement in January, US prosecutors said that the three men and others met at a house in Haiti just before the assassination, “where firearms and equipment was distributed and Solages announced that the mission was to kill President Moise”.

Haiti’s own investigation into the assassination has largely stalled, with three judges having resigned from their posts due to security concerns. A fourth was dismissed.

More than 40 suspects have been arrested in Haiti and remain in custody, including 18 Colombians. Three others were killed immediately after President Moise’s death.

Lebron James earned a new historical milestone on Tuesday night, and many, including the hip-hop world, are sending congratulatory messages for the amazing achievement. Basketball legend LeBron James made history after becoming the NBA’s all-time scoring leader when he broke the standing record held by Kareem-Abdul Jabbar over the past three decades.

Lebron James earned the title while his team played against the Oklahoma City Thunder at the Los Angeles Lakers’ home Crypto.com Arena. James was expected to surpass Jabbar’s career total of 38,387 points, and after doing so, the basketball legend ceremonially handed over the basketball to his successor in a mid-court ceremony.

The historical milestone was noticed by many in the sporting and entertainment world as they gave the basketball player his props. LeBron’s epic performance on Tuesday night came after weeks of anticipation, and when he scored his 36th point, the stadium and social media erupted with congratulatory messages from all factions of fans.

Among those who marveled at the achievement were Rihanna, Drake, Justin Timberlake, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, Lil Wayne, and thousands of LeBron fans who flooded social media with messages in awe of him.

“What a legendary night in NBA history,” Drake said about his friend shortly after the game ended. Drake appeared to be speaking from LeBron’s former hometown as he said, “To honor that I had to come back to the place that it all started… Every journey has its beginning.” However, his usual gimmick at play, a green screen collapses behind Drake, showing that he was actually in a nightclub in Miami celebrating.

Sixteen-time Grammy winner Kendrick Kamar also shared praise for LeBron’s achievement.

“From the time you went to the league when you had the doubters and the naysayers and people that think you wouldn’t take it this far you proved ’em wrong, dawg,” Lamar said.

Rihanna also shared that the moment inspired her.

“I am so grateful to witness this moment in history… my favorite thing about being a LeBron James fan is just watching you prove yourself over and over again against all odds and all doubt. Thank you for repping for all of us. Keep striving for greatness always, and congratulations King James.”

Snoop Dogg, decked out in his Lakers jersey, also added, “it’s always fun watching a Laker get it done.”

John Legend and Justin Timberlake also shared congratulatory messages to LeBron, with the former saying, “This man has been in the spotlight and burdened with the highest expectations since he was a teenager. And he’s done nothing but exceed those expectations and build a historic legacy. What an incredible accomplishment!” while Timberlake was in awe of the historic score, “on a step back too!”

Lil Wayne also posted, “Kongrats King!! Glad to say I’ve shaken your hand brudda. God bless you and the fam and the homies.”

Iggy Azalea Says Playboi Carti Abused Her Too and Calls Arrest His Karma

Iggy Azalea has reacted to reports that the father of her son, rapper Playboi Carti has been arrested for allegedly attacking his pregnant girlfriend.

News of the rapper’s arrest surfaced early on Tuesday morning, with reports that he was arrested for a domestic violence-related incident that took place two months ago. The publication revealed that the rapper allegedly choked his pregnant girlfriend. He was arrested and booked for felony aggravated assault and obstruction charges after he prevented the woman from calling the police.

Iggy Azalea reacted to the reports and did not hold herself back as she accused the rapper of having a history of being violent towards women. Azalea and Playboi Carti share a son, Onyx Kelly, and she has never shied away from sharing about her problems with the rapper.

The Australian rapper confirmed that the rapper also put his hands on her. “Been there. Done that. Warned you,” she wrote on Twitter.

Iggy Azalea, who previously accused Carti of breaking up with her and abandoning her during her pregnancy and later being a “deadbeat” dad, said the rapper was abusive.

“Imagine having a pregnant girlfriend and pretending they don’t exist until it comes out you like to abuse them too,” she continued,

“[And] rarely visiting your actual son unless is because you’re running from whatever problems ya got going on in Atlanta & the press with your serial abuse of a woman. Anyway. I’m having an actually amazing day! karmas real! Treat the people you love well! Happy Valentine’s Day,” the Australian rapper said.

Details of the arrest have been few, but so far, news reports claim that the assault took place on December 20 and that the incident stemmed from an argument over the paternity of the child. His girlfriend was just 20 weeks pregnant at the time.

Reports are that there was a physical altercation, and Carti choked her until she couldn’t breathe and shoed into some nearby bushes.

A witness helped the woman, who then ran for help.

There is also another report which claims that the irate rapper chased after the woman and attacked her again. He reportedly dragged her out of her car and covered her mouth so she wouldn’t call the police. The woman was able to use her phone’s S.O.S emergency help feature to call the cops.

The woman was found by police with bruises to her chest, back, and neck. An attorney for Playboi Carti said he was innocent of the charges.
