A l’initiative de Leslie Ardon, l’ancienne basketteuse de La Gauloise, l’Institut Martiniquais du Sport, le Centre Aquatique Communautaire et le terrain de football de l’ASPTT ont été, vendredi et samedi, les terrains de jeu des Martinique Summer Games.

Les jeunes sportifs et les athlètes de haut niveau comme Anne-Sophie Maximin (para-escrime), Hervé Amalou (escrime handisport), Yoan Lamar (haltérophilie handisport) , Nicolas Ferjule (para-Judo), David Stématine (nageur handisport), Coralie Balmy (natation), Paule Baudoin (handball) Laura Georges (football), Lénora Guion-Firmin (athlétisme), Kenji Grillon (karaté), Kendrick Jean-Joseph (escrime), Ali Traoré (basket-ball), se sont côtoyés et ont pu échanger pendant les deux jours.

Suspenden a agente de Delitos Sexuales de Arecibo al ser imputado de actos lascivos

Cargos criminales por Actos Lascivos (Artículo 133 del Código Penal) fueron radicados este jueves contra Carlos Igartúa Laguer, de 57 años y residente de Camuy, quien laboraba como agente de la Policía de Puerto Rico, adscrito a la División de Delitos Sexuales, del Cuerpo de Investigaciones Criminales (CIC) de Arecibo, por supuestos hechos ocurridos durante el mes de febrero de 2022.

Según el parte policíaco, surge de la investigación de la sargento Margarita Burgos Rosario, de la División de Delitos Sexuales del CIC de Utuado, que supuestamente Igartúa Laguer cometió el delito contra una mujer, mayor de edad, mientras ejercía sus funciones como agente del Orden Público en Arecibo.

Este caso se consultó con la fiscal Mariela Rullán Declet, de la Fiscalía de Utuado, quien instruyó la radicación del cargo antes mencionado. La prueba se presentó ante la jueza Melissa Santiago Núñez, del Tribunal de Utuado, quien determinó causa y le señaló una fianza de 40 mil dólares.

Igartúa Laguer prestó la fianza señalada y quedó en libertad hasta la vista preliminar pautada para el 16 de septiembre de 2022.

Debido a estos hechos imputados, Igartúa Laguer quedó suspendido de empleo y sueldo por parte del Negociado de la Policía de Puerto Rico.

En Guadeloupe depuis quelques jours, Kenny Livèze, profite de cette pause pour se ressourcer mais aussi revoir les siens. Il a été sacré Champion du Monde junior des moins de 100kg il y a quelques semaines en Equateur, une belle victoire pour le judoka. 

Ce samedi 27 août a eu lieu un rendez-vous de transition au sein du Budokan de Guadeloupe. Le judoka, Kenny Liveze, revient sur le territoire avec le titre de champion du monde junior des moins de 100kg. Un titre qu’il convoitait et qu’ il est fier de remporter. De retour chez lui, il décide avec la Ligue guadeloupéenne de judo d’organiser un cours avec les jeunes judokas de l’archipel. « Je tenais à réaliser ce cours avec ces enfants car c’est important pour moi, la transmission….

L’esplanade de Boivin  a reçu le marché plein ciel du bourg aux grandes dames des habitants du quartier, qui découvraient pour nombreux d’entre eux une brique à base chanvre vendredi après-midi.

Petits et grands, de nombreuses familles étaientau grand complet bien avant l’heure de l’ouverture prévu à 14 heures sur  l’esplanade  situé  face à l’école de saint pierre  à Boivin. Cette dernière  avait pris pour l’occasion les allures d’un grand marché à ciel ouvert en lieu et place du marché traditionneldu bourg de la ville.

Rio Claro man on sex charge against schoolgirl gets $100,000 bail

A 37-year-old man from Rio Claro who allegedly sexually assaulted a minor on her way to school has faced a magistrate.

The police contend that on June 14, the 17-year-old girl was waiting for transportation to go to school.

The man, who she knows, offered her a lift and she accepted.

But on the way, the driver made a detour and allegedly touched the girl indecently.

On Friday, the accused appeared before magistrate Alexander Prince in the Couva Magistrates’ Court charged with indecent assault.

The magistrate granted him $100,000 surety bail, a police statement on Sunday said.

The statement did not name the accused man.

As part of the bail conditions, the man must relocate to Tabaquite.

The accused must not communicate with the girl or her relatives and must stay 100 metres away from them.

The magistrate also ordered that he report to the Gran Couva police station weekly.

The incident was reported to Rio Claro police who informed the Child Protection Unit (CPU) Central.

CPU detectives investigated the matter and arrested and charged him on Thursday.

W/ Supt Claire Guy-Alleyne, W/ASP Theodore-Persad, W/Insp Hospedales and W/Sgt Cedeno co-ordinated the exercise.

PC Vijay Ramkissoon laid the charge.

The accused is expected to reappear in court on September 23.

Man critical after accident in Palo Seco

The truck, driven by Andy Birbal, which crashed into an electricity pole after hitting a car in Palo Seco on Sunday. –

A man was fighting for his life in hospital after an early-morning accident in Palo Seco on Sunday. Police identified him as Andy Birbal.

A police report said the accident happened at about 2 am on the SS Erin Road near Palo Seco junction.

Birbal was driving a dump truck, and a car was heading in the opposite direction.

The truck and car collided. The truck slammed into an electricity pole, causing a transformer to fall on it. Electricity was disconnected for hours.

Birbal was pinned in the truck for about two hours as fireman Patrick Dick and others from the Siparia station tried to free Birbal from the wreck.

The car which was damaged. –

Acting Cpl Aguillera and WPC Monsegue of the Santa Flora police station also visited the scene.

Residents who heard the crash and rushed to the scene praised Dick who, they said, “went beyond the call of duty” to try to free the injured man.

They gave Dick a round of applause after Birbal was freed.

Birbal was taken to the San Fernando General Hospital.

The car driver, who lives in Siparia, did not suffer serious injury.

Investigations are ongoing.

4 additional covid19 deaths, 155 new cases

Three elderly men and one elderly woman are the latest people to die from complications associated with the covid19 virus.

The Ministry of Health, in its daily update on Sunday, said all four patients had multiple comorbidities including diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, kidney disease, cerebrovascular disease and neurological disease. The total number of deaths since the start of the pandemic is 4,132.

The ministry also reported 115 new cases from samples taken between Friday and Saturday. There are now 6,327 active cases with 239 of them in hospital.

At the Couva Hospital and Multi-Training facility, there are 90 patients – six in the intensive care unit and four in the high dependency unit. At Caura Hospital there are 48 patients, 41 at Augustus Long in Point-a-Pierre, 22 at the Arima General Hospital, 14 at the Scarborough Regional Hospital (Fort) and one and the Scarborough General Hospital (Signal Hill).

Some 17 people have been discharged from public health facilities, and there have been 257 recovered community cases. These refer to people who were previously covid19 positive and in self isolation at home, and subsequently met the discharge criteria.
