The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS) reported that, shortly after 10:00pm on November 18, the 9-1-1 Communications Centre dispatched officers to a report of a robbery at a restaurant on North Church Street.
According to the RCIPS, it was reported that two masked men, one brandishing an axe, entered the establishment and attempted to gain entry to the cash registers.
Police confirmed that the men were unable to access the registers but robbed two persons at the location of cash and personal items. No one was injured during the incident.
Police said that the men then fled the location on foot in the direction of Seafarers Way.
Both men were dressed in black with their faces fully covered.
The matter is currently under investigation and anyone with information is asked to contact George Town CID at 949-4222.
Anonymous tips can be provided directly to the RCIPS via the RCIPS Confidential Tip Line at 949-7777, or via the RCIPS website.

The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS) previously reported that a female cyclist was knocked off her bicycle by a vehicle on Esterley Tibbetts Highway in the vicinity of Tanager Way. The suspected driver of the vehicle, who reportedly did not stop, was arrested on Wednesday, November 16.
According to police, the woman had been travelling northbound when she was struck by the mirror of a passing vehicle.
As a result of the impact, the woman fell from the bicycle and was transported to the hospital where she was treated for injuries (she has since been discharged from hospital).
A 58-year-old man of George Town, who has now been arrested in connection with the incident, now faces charges of suspicion of leaving the scene of an accident.
He has been granted bail while investigations continue.

Dear Editor,
Dear Honorable Gaston Brown, it’s my esteemed pleasure to write this letter.
I’m really grateful for seeing how you care for our fellow Caribbean brothers and sisters by extending amnesty so that illegal immigrants could become regularized.
Over the years, we realized that our nation began to be diverse in culture, whereas to date, you can see us integrating with other Caribbean countries’ traditions. which plays a major role in letting our children know about our ancestors and see that we are all one.
Now it’s boiling down to election time, and I know the Antigua and Barbuda Labor Party (ABLP) will take home all seats because there is no government that can lead us to greener pastures.
The United Progressive Party has shown much hatred toward non-nationals, and it’s evident because one of their own is married to a Jamaican, and they made a complete mockery of him on a radio program.
As I can recall, the UPP government mistreated our Caricom brothers and sisters as they mention, “Three years you live in a country and you are allowed to vote.”
In that year, the UPP government spiked a mass deportation and used the 2004 Act to block legal residents from obtaining citizenship.
We were born in Antigua and Barbuda, or some set of hypocrites, because some of us are citizens or green card holders of the United States, Canada, and England, or we fly there to have our children.
So that’s why we have a problem when someone else resides in our country? If you don’t know, foreigners play a major role in our economy;
without the taxes from work permits and, by extension, any other tax they have to pay, our country would not be able to stay afloat.
To be honest, most of the jobs that we, the people of Antigua and Barbuda, refuse non-nationals, do so with pride and dignity.
If you take a look at our Caribbean Community countries like Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Dominica, and Montserrat, just to name a few, all these countries are democratic nations and part of the Commonwealth.
It’s time we, the people of Antigua and Barbuda, and legal residents stood together to put a complete stop to the opposition party. and believe that once you are in the process of becoming a permanent resident, you should have a voice in our political affairs.
If the constitution isn’t amended, I’m planning on submitting a private member’s bill so it could be debated in parliament.
I pray long life over you, Uncle Gassy, as you continue to push forward for the people of Antigua and Barbuda and its residents.

In the past few years, Slutty Vegan, an Atlanta-based eatery, has attracted a cult-like following with its raunchy approach to veganism.
Celebrities often pop in for a visit. And customers routinely wait through long lines to order from the chain’s cheekily-named menu, which includes the One Night Stand burger and the slutty fries.
Owner Pinky Cole opened up the first brick-and-mortar location in 2018 in Atlanta, where the acclaimed burger joint attracted a largely Black customer base.
Since then, Cole has added new locations in other parts of Georgia as well as Birmingham, Alabama, and Brooklyn, New York.
This month, she will begin a five-city tour to promote her new cookbook, Eat Plants, B(asterisk)tch: 91 Vegan Recipes That Will Blow Your Meat-Loving Mind.
The Associated Press recently spoke with Cole about her business, her new cookbook, and how she’s preparing for a potential economic downturn. The conversation has been edited for clarity and length.

Q:How did you start your business? And why did you decide to go with a raunchy name?
A: So I started my concept in my two-bedroom apartment while working full-time as a casting director. The idea hit me out of nowhere. I didn’t know a side hustle would turn into a $100 million brand. I thought I was doing something personally for myself. But I was really doing something for people who want to reimagine food in a different way. The name was a catchy way to get people to pay attention. I knew ‘slutty’ and ‘vegan’ didn’t go together. They’re so oddly different that if you put them together, it would make people ask questions.
Q: Speaking of your prior career, how did you transition your broadcast skills to the restaurant business?
A: I know what people pay attention to. I know what gets them bored. I know what gets them to tune in. I learned that working in TV as a producer for the Maury show. I also worked on more therapeutic shows, so I know what pulls on people’s emotions. Our marketing is racy, raunchy, and in-your-face. I’m just producing TV every day.
Q: The chain limits customers to two burgers per order. Have you dealt with any complaints regarding that?
A: No. It’s funny. People don’t even complain about standing in line. We do the limit because there’s something in the art of scarcity that people have fallen in love with. If you make it available to them sometimes, but not all the time, it’ll make them come back. Another reason we implemented the limit was that we want to make sure the experience was efficient for customers. We’re still a small business. So the policy might change in the future as we grow.
Q: Many are worried that we might have a recession soon. Are you preparing your business for one?
A: Yes, we are actually in the process of doing that now. You know, it’s a very scary thing. Even for somebody who just raised $25 million, you’d be surprised how fast you can lose it if you’re not conscious about how you spend the money. We are strategically coming up with a game plan. Once upon a time, we were just focused on brick-and-mortar locations. But it takes almost $1 million to build one brick-and-mortar site. Now we are focusing our energy on buying food trucks.
Q: Do you have plans to go global?
A: We’ve already gotten some trademarks internationally. So we are preparing. But I can’t say just yet what we’re preparing for.
Q: Who’s the audience for the new cookbook?
A: This is for the meat eater. The vegans already got it figured out. No limitations – really good food. It just happens to be plant-based.

Fabian “Fyahmatic” Morris –
JAMAICAN DJ collective Chromatic Live’s two newest recruits, Isaac “Kryptic Live” Picking and Fabian “Fyahmatic” Morris, say they are elated by and proud of the new venture.
Chromatic Live was founded by Jamaican DJ Warren “Creep” Lee in 2005 and considers itself “not only an eclectic collective of Jamaica’s finest DJs but also as producers and purveyors of the culture.”
In a press release, the collective said Creep kept “hearing Kryptic’s name buzzing in the streets,” and they eventually met in July through a mutual friend.
“Not long after that, Brush1 told me to check out an MC called Fyahman, only to find out that Kryptic and Fyah were working closely together.
“After hearing them play a couple times, I ended up booking them for my own event Pan Di Plaza where they exceeded expectations. I approached them about signing and the rest is history.”
Kryptic, 20, told Newsday he “feels good” to now be managed by one of the hottest sounds in Jamaica.
“I’ve been working hard for the past few years, so to now have such a great team guide me makes me even more confident in what the future may hold.”
He said his sound is “definitely a blend” as he tries his best to appeal to each audience he plays for.
But he noted that most of his inspiration comes from the Caribbean and the UK.
Isaac “Kryptic Live” Picking –
He added, “Locally I looked up to people such as Chrome, Nicco and Chromatic to name a few…I was also inspired by international acts such as Major Lazer and Martin Garrix.”Fyahmatic told Newsday he was elated when he got the news.
The 21-year-old third-year law student at UWI, Mona is not only looking forward to being called to the bar but also “raising the bar in terms of performances, as well as continuing my pursuit for growth.”
Asked how he manages to balance law school and being an MC, he said while he doesn’t consider himself Superman, he “gets it done every time.
“I am still learning to adjust and make it work. It is an ongoing learning process.”
But balancing academics and music is not new for him.“From my days as a student at Jamaica College, I was heavily involved in extra-curricular activities as well as leadership responsibilities. I had to be very disciplined and determined to balance all of that while not dropping the ball in academics. Sheer discipline and determination. These principles I rely on as I traverse the tertiary level of education.”
The Chromatic Live team performed in TT in 2017 at Liv Nightclub.

November 19, 2022 is recognised as International Men’s Day and as you may know, the entire month of November is Men’s Health Awareness Month. The Ministry of Health, Wellness and Elderly Affairs takes this opportunity to acknowledge all men and boys in our beautiful island home.
The theme for this year’s International Men’s Day is: “Helping Men and Boys.”
With this in mind, The Ministry of Health, Wellness and Elderly Affairs champions our men of all ages and walks-of-life who have dedicated efforts to improving their families, communities and the society at large.
The Ministry applauds those who have been an inspiration to others and all who ensure positive values and practices are passed on to our future generations of both men and women. We thank all men who have supported our women and daughters, whether they be leaders, professionals, students or the glue that keeps our homes together.
This International Men’s Day the Ministry urges you to shy away from negativity and encourage your grandfathers, fathers, uncles, brothers, sons and friends to seek help when needed. Health does not only pertain to the body, but also the mind and spirit. We ask you to be the one who uplifts them when they are down.
Be the hands to catch them when they fall. Be the crutch that helps them make their way. And be the voice of support and reason when illness is upon them.
Chronic non-communicable diseases such as prostate cancers, heart disease, stroke, hypertension, and diabetes remain the most common preventable causes of death among men in Saint Lucia.
The Ministry encourages you to make use of the available free health screening services available at the Wellness Centers for early detection and treatment of these conditions. Also, you can work with your personal health care provider either in the public or private sector to maintain and optimize your health.
Please do not ignore something which is troubling you, no matter how trivial or embarrassing it may seem.
Even if you feel fine, we plead with you to schedule health checkup visits and make them part of your journey toward wellness, productivity and an excellent quality of life.
Assault is among the top leading causes of death among men in Saint Lucia and accounted for the sixth position in 2020. This is an opportunity for us to pause and think of the precious value of life and do all we can to protect and preserve our “brother’s” life and their health. Let us take the time to nurture our boys so that they grow into well rounded, respectable and productive men.
