The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS) confirmed that, on Friday, November 11, just after midnight, the Cayman Islands Coast Guard (CICG) and the RCIPS Air Operations Unit were on patrol when they came upon a commercial fishing vessel in Cayman Islands territorial waters near George Town. The Coast Guard team had reason to stop and search the vessel, and during the search, five kilos suspected of being cocaine were discovered.

According to the RCIPS, the vessel was occupied by three Honduran males, ages 59, 42 and 39. All three men were subsequently arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the importation of cocaine.

Following a joint CICG and RCIPS investigation, all three men have now been formally charged for this offense of Being Concerned with the Importation of Cocaine. They appeared before the court on Wednesday, November 15, where they were remanded in custody, to return on November 22, 2022.

Commenting upon the vessel interception, Commander Robert Scotland, head of the CICG said:

This interception is only one example of the CICG and RCIPS dedication to keeping illegal drugs from reaching our streets. It makes me extremely proud to see the level of commitment and professionalism being displayed by our officers during these types of incidents. The results that are being produced can reassure the public that the investment of providing the requisite training, and the proper equipment, creates positive returns for the Cayman Islands.

Isaac says ‘African’ concert is meant as a political distraction, while Watts notes PM’s nod to reference of another five years

Black Immigrant Daily News

Isaac

Chairman of the United Progressive Party (UPP) D.Gisele Isaac says she is tired of the Antigua Labour Party’s use of entertainment as a distraction, especially for the young people.

While the Browne Administration is endorsing a December 17 concert featuring a Nigerian recording artiste, Isaac notes that the country’s roads are in a deplorable condition and Social Security pensioners are still waiting to be paid for October.

On Wednesday, November 16, the Cabinet reportedly held preliminary discussions on this concert, in which it claims it has no financial involvement.

“Despite the presence of government officials at the launch, there is no financial liability on the part of the Ministry of Tourism or the Ministry of Creative Industries,” this week’s Cabinet Notes claim.

Since May 2022, the Notes add, the Ministry of Creative Industries has endorsed 147 such events, without providing financial support to any.

“If that is the case, then why is this concert a matter for Cabinet discussion?” Isaac asks REAL News. “I certainly don’t remember the Cabinet making any similar statement about the other 147,” she says, “and I think they ‘doth protest too much.’”

Further, Isaac notes that the staging of lavish concerts is not indicative of good governance, especially in this period of economic struggle for so many residents.

In the meantime, Algernon “Serpent” Watts, the UPP Candidate for St. George, says he is appalled that Prime Minister Gaston Browne would endorse a Facebook comment saying he would be given another five-year term for bringing the African artiste here.

Watts also addressed the likely price tag for bringing this entertainer to Antigua and Barbuda.

Meanwhile, many people are voicing curiosity about the promoters of the event – Fete Kingdom – which appears to be unknown to most locals.

Watts says he has heard the organization is about a year old, although it surfaced only a month or so ago; and he implies that some politically connected persons might be behind it.

On a different note, altogether, the Cabinet says it has made arrangements for the Annual National Service of Thanksgiving to be held on the first Sunday of the New Year, January 1, 2023. source: REAL NEWS

Presupuesto ta e herment di Pueblo contra corupcion

E control di propiedad di Pueblo ta deber sagrado di Parlamento

*Benta di terenonan erfpacht a baha balor di propiedad nacional

*Balor di propiedad di Pueblo ta sostene base financiero di pais

ORANJESTAD(AAN)—Pa presenta rubricanan, DIARIO ta scucha Pueblo y ta presenta, hunto cu expertonan den nan materia, e contesta riba loke ta biba den Pueblo.

E contesta ta, manera DIARIO a splica na ocasionnan anterior, cu Parlamento for di 2013 tabata tin e deber di a haci loke awe Ministerio Publico ta haci y controla loke a pasa cu entre otro terenonan di Pueblo.

Terenonan di Pueblo ta propiedad di Pueblo y ta sostene e forsa di Pueblo ora debe mester wordo haci pa cumpli cu e exigencianan financiero di Gobierno.

Cuanto balor tereno propio tin pa ciudadanonan, ta conoci.

Ora bisa cu Hulanda a evita cu Aruba a bay failliet, esaki ta nifica cu Hulanda a pone placa riba mesa pa yuda Aruba financieramente.

Ora papia di bancarota, no ta papia solamente di e placa cu tin den caha, pero tambe di e balor di propiedad di Pueblo y sigur tereno.

Kico esaki ta nifica, cu e balor di propiedad di Aruba a baha na momento cu e maneho financiero cu tabata wordo hiba dor di Gabinete Mike Eman, tabata produci debe.

Ora Gobierno tambe crea debe, e ta pone su propiedadnan cu ta propiedad di Pueblo tambe na peliger.

Parlamento di Aruba tin e derecho di Presupuesto. E tin e control riba e forma cu Aruba ta gasta placa, ta crea entrada pa e pais.

Esaki ta haci cu Parlamento tin e deber pa garantisa cu no solamente placa ta wordo usa na forma abusivo y hasta corupto pero tambe cu e propiedadnan di Aruba no ta wordo entrega na otro persona cu por haci ganashi bruto, cu ta bira perdida financiero pa Aruba.

Na e momento cu a trata presupuesto sin duda mester a bini dilanti, cuanto placa Aruba a perde, sin cu esaki a bini dilanti den reunionnan publico di Parlamento, pa medio di e forma cu a entrega terenonan cu balor grandi na amigonan cu a haci negoshi.
