ALEXA’S SECRET proved the form right at Caymans Park on Saturday, closing rapidly from seventh position to collar RAMBLING ROSE stealing home in the fillies-only Titania Trophy, while holding off late-closing BABYLIKE by a short head in the five-and-a-half furlong event.

ALEXA’S SECRET, the 7-5 favourite was narrowly beaten by last season’s classic-placed filly, SILENT MISSION, at six furlongs in her previous race.

SILENT MISSION ventured up in class five days later to beat non-winners of four races whereas third-past-the-post A GIFT FROM BEN also won his follow-up race.

ALEXA’S SECRET was held off the pace by Reyan Lewis while RAMBLING ROSE left MARKET PLACE, BERLINO’S CHOICE and RUPUNZEL into the straight.

ALEXA’S SECRET accelerated into second a furlong out to nail a weakening RAMBLING ROSE while holding late-charging BABYLIKE at bay.

ALEXA’S SECRET clocked 1:08.3 in the event for non-winners of two races.

Shane Ellis rode a two-timer on the nine-race card, opening the programme with 9-1 outsider COLORADO RANGER before sealing his double aboard 9-5 chance OLDKINGCOLE for champion trainer Anthony Nunes in the fifth.

Racing continues on Sunday , the second of three consecutive Heroes weekend holiday meets.

Women in their 30’s reportedly caught trafficking three girls under 16 Loop Jamaica

Police seeking to clamp down on players in the deadly child trafficking scheme, which continues to leave families across the island devastated, say they have apprehended two women who they believe are facilitators in the underground ring.

Police say the women are in their 30s and were apprehended in a recent operation.

Details of the clampdown are yet to be provided by law enforcement officers but in a post on their social media pages, police identified the women as Nicola Brissett, a 33-year-old resident of Lucea, Hanover, and Nicola Johnson, a 39-year-old resident of St Thomas.

The women were apprehended by members of the JCF’s Anti Trafficking Vice Squad in early October.

Police said the women were charged with trafficking three girls, all under the age of 16 years old.

The information has triggered shock and anger among social media users.

“Women are the biggest facilitators in child trafficking in terms of getting people to trust them,” said one user.

The police say they will provide more information on the case as their probe into the matter intensifies.

The Ministry of National Security in August of this year said it was collaborating with the Ministry of Education and Youth to inform children about human trafficking.

Director of Children and Family Programmes at the Child Protection and Family Services Agency (CPFSA), Warren Thompson, said the initiative was necessary, as children are vulnerable to human trafficking.

“There is the inclusion of the trafficking in persons content in the Home Family Life Education curriculum in schools, where we want children and teachers to be sensitive and have an awareness to the issue,” Thompson said.

He continued, “they have an internal committee and a plan of action, aimed at basically doing some preventative work in schools across the island, so a number of things are happening in the education sector”.

Manager of the Trafficking in Persons Secretariat in the Ministry of National Security, Audrey Budhi, said following the creation of Anti-Trafficking in Persons (ATIP) clubs in schools in 2019, the National Taskforce Against Trafficking in Persons had further dialogue on engagement.

Lil Baby’s ‘It’s Only Me’ Heading For No. 1 Debut, First Week Sales Projection

Black Immigrant Daily News

The content originally appeared on: Urban Islandz

Lil Baby is poised to earn another No. 1 album next week.

The Atlanta rapper is slated to earn his second solo No. 1 for his third studio album, It’s Only Me. The first week sales projections are indicative of a chart-topper, as Lil Baby is expected to move 185k – 210k units by his Billboard 200 debut, according to HDD. The Quality Control rapper had a lot to live up to with the release of this album following the mega success of his last solo effort.

Back in 2020, Lil Baby’s second studio album, My Turn, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and has since gone 4x platinum. The rapper’s uber-successful sophomore effort broke the record for the longest streak when it spent six weeks at No. 1 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and just last month hit a century in the top 10.

The highly anticipated release of Lil Baby’s third studio was met with great expectation and critique. Clearly, the rapper did not disappoint his fans after coming under pressure to double down on his studio album success. It’s Only Me potentially marks Lil Baby’s third Billboard 200 No. 1 after The Voice of the Heroes. His collaborative effort with Lil Durk debuted at No. 1 in June 2021.

It’s Only Me is reportedly doing extremely well on streaming which is primarily responsible for the number of copies the rapper is expected to move in his opening week. The new album featured the likes of Future, Young Thug, Jeremih, and more and was produced by Murda Beatz, KRAZYMOB, Tay Keith, and others.

Among the popular tracks are “Stand On It” and “Not Finished,” which are most buzzed about since Lil Baby appears to be addressing the supposed beef between himself and labelmate Quavo after he was reportedly spotted hanging out with the Migos rapper’s ex-girlfriend, Saweetie, following their breakup.

For Lil Baby, the celebration started early as he enjoyed his album release party this weekend. Is the No. 1 album party up next?

SudLib : la direction cherche une sortie de crise

Black Immigrant Daily News

The content originally appeared on: Martinique FranceAntilles

SLASPA Conducts Successful Simulation Exercise At HIA – St. Lucia Times News

Black Immigrant Daily News

The Saint Lucia Air and Sea Ports Authority (SLASPA), in collaboration with the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) and other key response agencies, successfully conducted a Full-Scale Simulation exercise at the Hewanorra International Airport on October 14, 2022.

The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) mandates that an Airport must conduct a simulation exercise every two years to test and evaluate the response and recovery capability of the Airport Authority and response agencies.

A simulation seeks to mimic an actual emergency to which a described or simulated response is initiated.

The activity assesses and evaluates the response of the critical agencies involved and is used to direct corrective measures to ensure proper action should such an event occur.

Acting Director of Airports, Ms. Amy Charles, explains, “As an Airport Community, the simulation exercise remains paramount. It examines our Airport Response Procedures and tests SLASPA’s Crisis Communication Plan and our emergency response readiness during an incident.”

Facilitor of the exercise, Mr. Ausbert Regis, reiterated that the simulation emphasized three pertinent areas of response; the time and quality of response and the agencies’ readiness to deploy personnel and resources.”

The safety and efficiency of our airport operations are of utmost importance to employees, clients, and the nation.

The exercise was a timely opportunity as airports and airlines have been forced to reexamine and strengthen existing procedures. While the Authority remains hopeful that such a crisis never occurs, it is imperative that we are always ready to act.

Participating agencies included; Air Traffic Services, the Aerodrome Rescue and Fire Fighting Services (AAFF), the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF), the Ports Police department, the Customs, and Excise Department, the St. Jude’s Hospital, Airline Representatives and Airport employees.

SLASPA commends all agencies who participated in this exercise, as their participation provided an invaluable opportunity to practice coordinating medical and emergency performance.
