“Nous vous aimions Ma’am”, “Nos coeurs sont brisés” : les photos de la reine Elizabeth II faisaient la une vendredi de tous les quotidiens britanniques, avec des éditions spéciales retraçant ses 96 ans de vie et 70 ans et 7 mois de règne.

The Times, The Guardian, The Daily Telegraph et The Independant ont choisi en une l’image officielle de la jeune monarque de 27 ans lors de son couronnement en 1953, tandis que The Sun, The Daily Telegraph et The Daily Express ont préféré des photos d’une Elizabeth II plus âgée, en noir et blanc ou en couleur, mais avec la même solennité.

“Le chagrin est le prix à payer pour l’amour”, titre The Telegraph, reprenant les mots forts que la reine avait adressé aux Américains après les attentats jihadistes du 11 septembre 2001 à New York (Etats-Unis).

L’amour est un thème qui revient très souvent dans les colonnes des tabloïds. “Nous vous aimions Ma’am”, proclame The Sun. “Nous sommes fier de vous avoir eu pour Reine”, ajoute-t-il, quand The Daily Express titre “Notre reine bien-aimée est morte”.

“Nos coeurs sont brisés”, affirme aussi The Daily Mail, ajoutant: “Comment trouver les mots? Notre chagrin est rempli d’une centaine d’émotions différentes et toutes sont douloureuses à saisir”.

“Merci” revient également beaucoup dans les articles, comme à la une du Daily Mirror.

Sans surprise, le décès d’Elizabeth II donne lieu à des éditions spéciales de plusieurs dizaines de pages dédiées à cet événement historique, à l’impact considérable pour le Royaume-Uni et au-delà.

“Une lumière s’en est allée de nos vies. Le jour que le Royaume-Uni et beaucoup dans le monde redoutaient est arrivé. Elle est partie”, s’attriste l’éditorial du très populaire tabloïd The Sun.

“La mère de notre nation. La femme la plus célèbre, la plus aimée, la plus respectée au monde. La colonne vertébrale du Royaume-Uni. C’est tout simplement difficile de penser à la vie du pays sans sa présence”, ajoute le quotidien. “Le nouveau monde nous paraîtra étrange”.

Dans sa nécrologie, The Times décrit Elizabeth II comme “la femme qui a sauvé la monarchie”.

“C’est grâce à son dévouement et son sens de sa mission qu’une institution qui a parfois semblé dépassée et incapable de s’adapter aux valeurs de la société contemporaire possède toujours sa pertinence et reste populaire aujourd’hui”, selon le quotidien.

Dans les colonnes du journal de gauche The Guardian, l’éditorial estime que sa disparition signe le début “d’un nouvel avenir”. “Le seul élément dans notre vie collective qui restait constamment et de manière fiable le même (…) a disparu”, écrit-il.

The Daily Telegraph rend aussi hommage à “une vie au service” du Royaume-Uni. “Elle était plus qu’un symbole distant et matriarcal de la nation, elle était une guide et une compagnie constante, toujours paisiblement rassurante, même dans les temps les plus agités (…) Le règne d’Elizabeth II est terminé. Longue vie au Roi Charles III”, conclut-il.

La cantidad total de muertes atribuidas es de 5,028.

Hay 271 adultos y 29 menores hospitalizados. Este monitoreo cubre el periodo del 24 de agosto al 6 de septiembre de 2022.

La tasa de positividad está a 22.37 por ciento.

Regional leaders pay tribute to Queen Elizabeth II Loop Barbados

Queen Elizabeth II has been remembered as a pillar of strength and inspirational stateswoman by leaders of the Caribbean following news of her death.

Her Majesty passed away this afternoon at Balmoral Castle in Scotland where she was being observed by a medical team after her health took a turn for the worse.

She was 96 years old.

The Queen, who has recently celebrated her 70th anniversary as monarch, was the head of state of eight countries and five colonies in the Caribbean.

Premier David Burt of Bermuda was the first leader of the Caribbean colonies to send his condolences to Queen Elizabeth II.

“A life of undimmed duty, a model of strength and devotion to country…On behalf of the Government and people of Bermuda, I express sincere condolences to the Royal Family and the people of the United Kingdom.” Burt said.

Cayman Islands Premier Wayne Panton said: “I, on behalf of the Cayman Islands, join others from around the world in offering our condolences to the Royal Family. It is our prayer that God grants them the grace and peace to get through this difficult time. May God be with and comfort us all.”

Panton also acknowledged Prince Charles’ ascension to the throne as King Charles III.

President of Guyana Dr Mohammed Irfaan Ali sent his condolences to the Royal Family and people of the UK saying Guyanese people will always remember Her Majesty’s visits to the country.

“I join all Guyanese in expressing our profound and deepest sorrow at the death of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. Her passing marks the end of an era in the history of the British Monarchy, the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth of Nations,” he said

“Queen Elizabeth’s place in history is assured and her legacy is intact. Her long and impactful reign has helped to shape the post-World War II world. Her Majesty has been a source of stability for her country. She will be long remembered for her sterling leadership of the Commonwealth of Nations.”

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit said the people of Dominica are saddened at the news of Her Majesty’s death.

“Our prayers are with the Royal Family during this period of grief. Her passing ends an iconic 70-year reign and is a profound loss for the Commonwealth of Nations and the world. May she rest in peace,” he said.

St Lucian Opposition Leader Allen Chastanet said: “For the last 70 years, Queen Elizabeth reigned with honour and distinction. My thoughts and prayers are with the royal family and all those across the globe who mourn her passing. May she Rest in Peace eternally.”

Jamaican PM Andrew Holness sent condolences to the Royal Family saying that he has them in his prayers.

T&T Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley remembered the Queen for her dedication and service to the people of the UK and the wider Commonwealth of Nations.
