The 2022 Wanda Diamond League season ends on Thursday with the final day of the two-day meet in Zurich, Switzerland.

The world’s best athletes are competing for Diamond trophies, top $30,000 prizes and wildcard entries to the World Athletics Championships Budapest 23.

13 Jamaicans will be in the hunt on the final day of the season.

POLICE PROBE PILLAR ROCK MURDER

The police are continuing investigations into an alleged murder that took place at the Pillar Rock Hotel sometime late Wednesday night.

It was reported that a man was found with what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds to his body.

The police are also searching for another male, who has gone missing just around the same time of the incident.

The circumstances surrounding both incidents are still unclear.

However, the police are still on the scene conducting further inquiries, and as additional information comes to hand the general public will be kept informed.

El palacio de Buckingham informó hoy jueves que la reina de Inglaterra, Isabel II, se encuentra bajo supervisión médica debido a que sus médicos se encuentran preocupados por su salud.

Isabel II, quien tiene 96 años de edad, se encuentra en el castillo de Balmoral en Escocia. 

Según el portal internacional CNN, los miembros inmediatos de la familia real fueron notificados sobre las preocupaciones por la salud de la monarca. Además, ese medio indicó que los rumores de que Su Majestad se había caído, son falsos.

Medios de prensa internacional también confirmaron que el príncipe Carlos y su esposa Camila, se encuentran en Balmoral y el príncipe Guillermo va de camino.

Por su parte, según el portal RT en Español, la primera ministra británica, Liz Truss, expresó que “todo el país estará profundamente preocupado por las noticias desde el palacio de Buckingham”. “Mis pensamientos y los pensamientos de la gente en todo nuestro Reino Unido están con Su Majestad la Reina y su familia en este momento”.

Su esposo, el príncipe Felipe, duque de Edimburgo, falleció el 9 de abril de 2021 a los 99 años.

Enquiry chairman remembers dead divers with compassion, sorrow

A moment of silence was observed for the four divers who died in the Paria tragedy at the formal opening of the commission of enquiry (CoE) on Wednesday.

Commission chairman Jerome Lynch, QC, said it was right that they should be remembered with sorrow and compassion.

“Not just them, but their families and friends who grieve for them. I would ask you to please join with me and observe a minute of silence as a mark of respect for those men who have died and for those whose lives have been changed forever,” the Jamaican jurist asked those in attendance.

On behalf of himself and fellow commissioner subsea specialist Gregory Wilson, he expressed “our heartfelt sadness and suffering and despair caused by this loss of life.

“We are acutely aware these men were fathers and sons, brothers and cousins, friends and colleagues and breadwinners and confidants who provided joy to many.”

While noting that the enquiry cannot bring back Fyzal Kurban, Rishi Nagassar, Kazim Ali Jr and Yusuf Henry, he said it “can and it will provide answers to the inevitable questions of how a tragedy of this kind could occur in today’s society.”

Lynch said he was shocked.

“Such an incident in a modern country, used to dealing with the extraction of oil and gas and the maintenance of machinery necessary to effect such extraction, is both surprising and tragic in the 21st century.”

He noted that “194 days ago, four men died when something happened that caused them to be sucked into a 30-inch pipeline stretching across the seabed from berth six to berth five.

“The facts are undoubtedly tragic,” he said pledging to get to the truth, leaving no stone unturned to get there.

Lynch has set hearings for November 21-25, December 5-8, December 12-15, and as a contingency, January 9-13, 2023, although he said hopefully that January hearing would not be necessary.

He said a draft report should be completed by Easter.

El Servicio Nacional de Meteorología en San Juan (SNM) emitió, nuevamente, una advertencia de calor que estará en efecto desde las 10 AM hasta las 4 PM. El flujo de vientos del Sur resultará en índices de calor cerca de los 105-110 grados Fahrenheit.   

Además, el viento estará del Sur entre 10 a 15 mph con ráfagas más fuertes y variación en brisa marina. Las temperaturas máximas estarán cerca de los medios 80s a los bajos 90s a través de áreas bajas y en los altos 70s a medios 80s a través de áreas más altas.

Por otra parte, para hoy se esperan cielos nublados con aguaceros pasajeros a través de sectores costeros del Sur de Puerto Rico y aguas locales durante horas de la mañana. Luego, en horas de la tarde, la humedad disponible con los efectos locales y diurnos resultará en el desarrollo de aguaceros, primero a través de la Cordillera Central, desplazándose a través de la costa Norte de Puerto Rico.

Dada las condiciones, se esperan inundaciones urbanas y de pequeños riachuelos, al igual que inundaciones repentinas y deslizamientos en áreas donde los suelos ya se encuentren saturados. 

A través de las aguas regionales, el viento estará desde el Sur a alrededor de 15 nudos. El oleaje estará generalmente en 5 pies o menos. Existe un riesgo moderado de corrientes marinas a través de las costas Norte, Este y Suroeste de Puerto Rico, al igual que Culebra.
