Black Immigrant Daily News

The content originally appeared on: Guadeloupe FranceAntilles

Meltdown: Man United feel heat after 4-0 loss at Brentford Loop Jamaica

Black Immigrant Daily News

The content originally appeared on: Jamaica News Loop News

Temperatures soared in England on Saturday and no one was feeling the heat more than Manchester United’s latest manager, Erik ten Hag.

On another humiliating day for a massive club in freefall, United conceded four goals in the first 35 minutes and were swept aside in a 4-0 loss at Brentford in the Premier League.

It’s two matches, two losses so far for Ten Hag, the Dutchman who arrived from Ajax in a bold offseason appointment as United’s fifth manager in nine years and looked shell-shocked in the dug-out as the goals poured in at Brentford Community Stadium.

It was understandable, too. United had never gone into halftime of a Premier League match trailing 4-0. Never before in the Premier League had United conceded so many goals so quickly.

There were so many individual mistakes — goalkeeper David de Gea let a weak shot dribble underneath him for the first goal, Christian Eriksen was tackled inside his own box prior to the second, and Brentford had two free headers at a corner for the third — that Ten Hag probably wanted to change most of his team at halftime.

He made three halftime substitutions, with Cristiano Ronaldo — back in United’s team after an offseason when he pushed to leave the club — staying on and playing the full match. He wore a frustrated look throughout.

“What I asked them to do was play with belief and take responsibility for their performance,” Ten Hag said. “That is what they didn’t do.”

Josh Dasilva, Mathias Jensen, Ben Mee and Bryan Mbeumo were the scorers for Brentford, which pressed relentlessly and blew United away.

“It felt like we were on top of everything,” Jensen said. “They couldn’t cope with our pressure, our second balls, our intensity. You could see they were struggling.”

It might get even worse for Ten Hag and his new team, which opened with a 2-1 home loss to Brighton last weekend. Up next? It’s only fierce rival Liverpool, which will be eager to hand United a fifth straight loss stretching back to last season.

“We are, as a team, in a difficult process,” Ten Hag said. “Of course, you expect a different start. It is not what we expected … It seems like what happened in the past, last season, we bring into the new season. We have to change that really quickly.”

United’s meltdown came in the last of Saturday’s seven games that were played in sweltering conditions that reached as high as 35 degrees Celsius (95 Fahrenheit).

Manchester City and Arsenal both scored four goals in home wins and continue to set a hot early-season pace.

CITY CRUISE

Man City didn’t even need Erling Haaland to score in their 4-0 thrashing of Bournemouth.

Ilkay Gundogan, Kevin De Bruyne and Phil Foden were City’s scorers along with an own-goal, with Haaland barely getting a sight on goal in his first match at Etihad Stadium.

The Norway striker scored both of City’s goals in their opening-weekend 2-0 win at West Ham but was mostly crowded out a week later, making just eight touches before coming off in the 74th.

JESUS’ DOUBLE

A player who left City is thriving at Arsenal.

Gabriel Jesus played a starring role in the 4-2 win over Leicester, scoring the first two before halftime and providing the assists for second-half strikes by Granit Xhaka and Gabriel Martinelli.

Jesus, the Brazil striker who left City in the summer for a reported ?45 million ($54 million), was in hot form for Arsenal in preseason and appears to be relishing being the starting striker once again after being in and out of City’s team.

An own-goal by William Saliba and James Maddison’s strike brought Leicester twice to within one goal of Arsenal at Emirates Stadium.

GERRARD TOPS LAMPARD

Teammates for England, Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard were rivals in the dugouts as they went head-to-head for the first time as managers on Saturday.

Gerrard came out on top.

Despite a late wobble, Aston Villa beat Everton 2-1 for their first win of the season and left their opponent without a point. Danny Ings and Emi Buendia scored for Villa before an 87th-minute own-goal by Lucas Digne gave Everton hope.

Like Man United, Everton are on zero points after two games.

PENALTY SAVED

Back-to-back draws was probably as much as Fulham could have expected on their return to England’s big time.

It could have been much more, though, with Aleksandar Mitrovic having a late penalty saved in a 0-0 draw at Wolverhampton.

Jose Sa dived to his right to claw away the spot kick from the Serbia international, who scored twice in the 2-2 with Liverpool last weekend and was looking to score his 45th league goal in as many appearances for Fulham.

There were two other draws, with Brighton and Newcastle toiling to a 0-0 stalemate and Southampton coming from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with Leeds.

Four Jamaican nationals, three of whom entered the Cayman Islands illegally, were deported to Jamaica Friday morning.

They include Neville Peter Butler, who is wanted by the Jamaican authorities on suspicion of murder.

A statement from the Cayman Islands Customs and Border Control (CBC), also lists Ravan L. George among the deportees. The CBC said he is wanted in Jamaica for serious offences.

The two other men, one of whom entered the Cayman Islands legally on a work permit which was later revoked by Workforce Opportunities and Residency Cayman, were also deported. Both are said to be wanted by the Jamaica Constabulary Force for questioning in connection to serious offences committed in Jamaica.

The CBC said Butler had been hiding in Cayman since he evaded police last month when they arrested Rudolph Shaw, another Jamaican suspected killer, who had arrived in Cayman by boat illegally.

The four men were escorted to Jamaica by the CBC, the Royal Cayman Islands police, and prison officers and were handed over to the local authorities upon their arrival.

LETTER: This bar must be closed

Black Immigrant Daily News

The content originally appeared on: Antigua News Room

PLEASE ALLOW THE CONCERNS HERE TO BE PUBLISHED IN YOUR PAPER.

The people of Brown’s Avenue are still crying out to the magistrate and court who issued licence to the “13 bar and restaurant” to operate in the village: The court needs to act now and revoke the permission that was granted.

The correct procedures for licensing were not adhered to since the community residents were NEVER involved in the decision to grant license for the bar/restaurant to be opened.

It has been over two years and yet still the authorities have failed to perform their duties as they should.

Over 20 residents of the community have signed a petition for this establishment to be closed and yet still the courts continue to show no concern whatsoever.

Let me reiterate that the residents of the community were NEVER  called upon to give their opinion on having a bar operate less than 25 feet from the closest neighbors.

To date, the lawlessness continues to damage a once quiet and clean environment. The patrons of this establishment continue to dispose of their garbage ( bottles, paper plates, cups, ) on the street and on vacant lands. The Central Board of Health also needs to get involve and investigate the litter situation that this establishment has presented to the community.

We have suffered enough.  The people DEMAND justice.  When will the ordinary people get justice.

This bar must be closed.

The magistrate who issued license for this bar to operate should immediately request the revocation of the license.

This lawlessness must not be allowed to continue.

Once again:   THE PEOPLE AFRE CRYING OUT FOR JUSTICE.

LET THE WORD GO FORTH LOUD AND CLEAR:  WE NEED THIS BAR CLOSED IMMEDIATELY.

WE CANNOT CONTINUE TO ALLOW SOME GREEDY PEOPLE AND RUM THRISTY  VAGABONDS TO DAMAGE OUR COMMUNITY WITH THEIR  LITTER, NOISE POLLUTION AND INDECENT BEHAVIOR.

50 Cent Uncomfortable Being Called Fat, Details Running With Beyonce Over Jay-Z Beef

Black Immigrant Daily News

The content originally appeared on: Urban Islandz

50 Cent says he was bothered by fat-shamers after his Super Bowl performance and shared some details about a running he had with Beyonce who confronted him about his beef with Jay-Z.

Beyoncé is often thought to be calm and private with her personal life, but Queen Bey’s Virgo side jumped out to defend her husband during his intense beef with 50 Cent. On Friday, the G-Unit rapper shared that Beyoncé was ready to put hands on him while they were out in public, and he approached her now husband to talk.

According to the “Get Rich or Die Tryin’” rapper, he was in Vegas for an event when Beyoncé hopped over a window ledge to get him and was “ready” to fight him over the beef with Jay-Z.

“She was on, like, a window sill. We was in Vegas,” he said, laughing. “She jumped out, she was like [pulls confrontational face]. And I’m like, Wait, what is you doing? That’s me and JAY-Z’s stuff, this ain’t got nothing to do with you, girl,” 50 says.

“She jumped off the ledge. I was like, ‘Oh, shit!’ I didn’t really know what to do. It was one of those situations where you were like, ‘Woah!’ If you say this to Jay, he’ll look at you and go, ‘Nah, that happened.’”

50 Cent has the hosts of the Breakfast Show cracking up as Charlamagne references the famous incident where Solange beats up Jay-Z for allegedly cheating on Beyoncé while they were all in an elevator as he tells 50 Cent to be grateful Solange was not there.

Beyonce, Jay-Z / IG

“She came like she was ready! Like something was gonna happen! And I’m like, ‘Woah, woah, woah.’ She throwing me off now ’cause I don’t know exactly how to respond to this. You are still Beyoncé. She brought all of the sexy over with that energy jumping off,” 50 Cent added.

“I look at Jay and he go [laughs]. Nah, he’ll tell you … I said, ‘Yo, alright. Whatever.’ ‘Cause really I’m just saying what’s up. But she’s feeling my energy come over because we do say things about each other — it’s a competitive nature, that’s it!” he added.

50 Cent also jokes about the elevator incident with Solange.

“If Solange was there, I would’ve had to reboot! Solange was popping in that elevator like it was nothing. With some gangsta shit going on. Jay couldn’t do nothing, huh?”

50 Cent and Jay-Z’s intense beef lasted in the early 2000s after he threatened the New York rapper in his 1999 song “How to Rob”. Hov also responded on “It’s Hot (Some Like It Hot),” rapping: “Go against Jigga? Your ass is dense/I’m about a dollar; what the fuck is 50 cents?”

Despite him taking shots at Jay-Z over the years, 50 Cent says that the two men are now on good terms, but he did not say whether he is on Beyoncé’s good side as well.

On the other hand, 50 Cent has gotten a taste of his own medicine, and he says that the fat-shaming comments made about him during his Super Bowl Half-Time performance bothered him.

“That sh*t bothers me, man…Yeah ‘I’m like what you talking bout I’m not fat’…. I’ve fluctuated a lot throughout my run you know what I’m saying and it’s just my body type,” he explained as he shared that he is back in the gym and getting his workout in every morning since being trolled.

13 killed in 22

National Security Minister Rayburn Blackmore is “troubled” by an increase in gun-related violence

The status of Dominica as a peaceful and loving Nature Island some argue is under challenge.

This is as the country is reeling from more gun-related deaths and 12 homicides for the year.

At the start of the year, Police Chief Daniel Carbon boasted of a 40% reduction in Dominica’s homicide rate in 2021 as compared to 2020.

Carbon reported nine murders in 2021 compared to 15 in 2020, eight of which he said were solved by the police.

However, seven months into the year 2022, Dominica’s homicide rate has nearly doubled that of the previous year, an occurrence which many, including Minister of National Security, Rayburn Blackmore says is troubling.

According to Blackmore, the citizenship report of 2022 named the Commonwealth of Dominica, as the third safest country in Latin America and the Caribbean and the 31st safest place in the world. However, he stated, the recent upsurge of firearm offenses, if not immediately stemmed, will not only negatively impact Dominica’s Global Peace Index, but seriously undermine the social and economic fabric of the country.

“We are in the month of July, and so far have recorded 10 shooting incidents, eight of which have been fatalities, seven of which have been deemed as murder,” Blackmore said. “Brothers and sisters, this is a serious threat to national security. This threat has to be confronted.”

For the year thus far, 35 illegal firearms have been recovered by the police compared to 25 seized in 2021.

According to Blackmore, his ministry shall continue to provide the police force with the support needed to swiftly respond and adopt a zero tolerance level for the use of firearms to commit offenses.

Criminologist and sociologist Dr. Peter K. B. St. Jean has also warned of the impact of the rising crime rate in Dominica.

From his assessment of crime in Dominica, Dr. St Jean explained that most homicides as of late are linked to killings from five to 10 years ago.

“So what happens is that, for every murder that happens, there is a .5 to 2.5 probability that other murders may be related in the future to just one murder, and depending on how sensational that murder is, there is a higher probability that someone could die within a very short time,” he stated. “What that means is that for every two murders that happen, you are going to have between one and five new murderers within seven to 10 years.”

He further posited that the economic state of a country also contributes to its crime rate and as such encouraged the government to restore citizens’ independence and reduce the need to rely on government officials as much as possible, and earn independent legal income through effective networking.

The Dominican born further appealed to the government to adopt his 2011 Peaceful Dominica Initiative which was submitted to the government to curb violence on the island.
Meanwhile, social activist and environmentalist, Atherton ‘Athie’ Mart?n averred that a community approach is needed to curtailing crime as a collaboration between the police and the community can identify and solve community problems.

“The problem started when we stopped paying attention to each other when we stopped cherishing love and we replaced that with cherishing wealth, cherishing the money, the big house, cherishing the big job, even when we knew we were not deserving, we still cherished and we stopped caring,” Mart?n said. “When you stop caring, it becomes easier to wield a cutlass, a stone or a gun, instead of using words and thoughts, in a conversation, in a narrative that gets to a more permanent solution.”
