Ity, ‘Titus’, actress Sherando Ferril to host new comedy series on TVJ Loop Jamaica

Black Immigrant Daily News

Imagine comedians Ian ‘Ity’ Ellis, Glen ‘Titus’ Campbell and Hollywood actress Sherando Ferril being in one room with kids who are free to say whatever they want. Now imagine how completely hilarious a time that would be!

Well, imagine no more!

“In what promises to be one of the most exciting and top-rated shows in the history of local television, kids from ages five to 10 years will be saying the most jaw-dropping of things as the new show ‘Kids Talk – Anything and Everything’ kicks off on Tuesday, August 2 on TVJ at 8:30 pm,” said a release announcing the show.

“And as if what will come from the mouths of these little ones were not enough to have you in stitches, the line-up of hosts is sure to have you rolling on the floor,” the release added.

This 13-part series will be hosted by these comedians, while behind-the-scenes feature events will be hosted by Ngozi Wright, the 9-year-old child star who captured the hearts of many people locally and internationally with her positive messages through poetry, and who, in 2019, became the youngest person to speak in the Jamaican Parliament.

During Kids Talk — Anything and Everything, the children will be showcasing their talents and allowed to speak on a variety of subjects while the hosts will be picking their brains on matters related to relationships, politics, religion, families, education, money — you name it.

Each of the three on-stage celebrities will take turns as host for different episodes each week, but will come together on one stage for the one-hour-long grand finale?. Thus creating history as it will be the first time ever that ‘Ity’ and ‘Titus’ be sharing the same stage. All four hosts will gather for this grand event.

“Kids Talk — Anything and Everything will allow adults to better understand how the minds of children work, and that kids — no matter how young, do have opinions on just about everything,” said Alrick McKenzie, creator, executive producer and the CEO of Absolut Ventures Ltd, producer of the show.

“This show will make you realise that children do have a voice — even if their opinions are different from ours. Two things will be guaranteed, we will learn a lot from them and we will laugh our hearts out!”

The weekly show is recorded in front of a live studio audience.

McKenzie is the creator of several television shows including ‘The Love Zone — New Chapter’, now airing on TVJ Sundays at 4:00 pm, and ‘Family Food Battle’, also airing on TVJ Sundays at 5:30 pm.

Both shows, which are into their 6th week, have been a hit with viewers across the island. Kids Talk — Anything and Everything is slated to be no different, and is expected to capture a viewing audience of over 600,000 per week.

“It is really a very fun show. These kids will have you doubling over in tears by the strangest things that they come up with,” McKenzie laughs. “And whatever they come up with are not rehearsed or told to them. They speak innocently from their hearts,” he added. “This is yet another very good show that the entire family can enjoy. And can I tell you — the hosts are even more hilarious than these kids themselves so you will definitely have something to enjoy.”

McKenzie, through Absolut Ventures, has produced a number of highly rated shows like ‘The Alrick McKenzie Show’, ‘Sweet Bake Challenge’, ‘Mix It Bartender Challenge’, ‘Freestyle Football Reality Show’ and the ‘Gillette Honour Roll’ among others. He has also produced more than 200 radio and television commercials aired locally and internationally.

And while Kids Talk — Anything and Everything is the third show to debut within the last two months through Absolut Ventures, McKenzie said others are to come during the course of this year.

Among the first to get his hands on the Wray & Nephew White Overproof Rum “Parish Collection”, Duncan Chisholm is inspired to start his collection.

Chisholm seized the opportunity at the official unveiling of the Jamaica 60-inspired limited-time offer product at the Jamaica Rum Festival held recently at The Aqueduct in St James on June 25.

The guest-house manager made it his mission to secure two bottles: St Elizabeth and St James, from the 14-bottle collection.

Originally from St Elizabeth, the 29-year-old knew he had to have the design ascribed to his birth parish, and since he currently resides in St James, Chisholm also bought the limited time offer (LTO) bottle for the parish he made his second home.

“When I went to make my purchase, I originally wanted the full collection but all but two parishes were available at the time, so I bought the two most important ones to me, but I’m still looking forward to collecting all 14,” Chisholm explained.

With his eyes set on the full suite of parishes, Chisholm shared his plans to keep his LTO purchases as the beginning of his rum collection “I’ll keep it and probably make it proof to 75% or something,” he added.

As a businessman, Chisholm praised the J Wray & Nephew Ltd initiative to mark Jamaica’s Diamond Jubilee with a capsule rum, “It’s a good homage towards it so yes, it was a good idea,” he remarked.

Now available in stores island-wide, the ‘Parish Collection’ is a commemorative, limited edition Wray & Nephew White Overproof Rum.

The collection is part of activities undertaken by the company to mark Jamaica’s 60th year of Independence.

In the bottle, is a 70% alcohol by volume liquid that is flavourful, full of character and has a natural fruity aroma with overtones of molasses.

Another distinguishing feature of the ‘Parish Collection’ is the commemorative packaging featuring labels that pay homage to the fourteen parishes of Jamaica, each showcasing a specific landmark from each parish.

Pictured on the St Elizabeth bottle is the famed Holland Bamboo. The full “Parish Collection” is now available in stores island-wide, while stocks last.

Celebrate Fi Wi Culture this independence by adding a bottle of Wray & Nephew White Overproof Rum “Parish Collection” to your personal collection.

Prominent attorney-at-law Christopher Townsend, who is representing Constable Noel Maitland, is maintaining that his client is innocent, even as the police constable was on Tuesday slapped with a murder charge in relation to the disappearance of social media influencer Donna-lee Donaldson.

“I can confirm that my client has been charged for murder as the press conference earlier on did indicate, of course, the evidence that they’re relying on is circumstantial,” Townsend told Loop News after the police announced Tuesday that the police constable, who has been in custody since last Wednedsday, has been charged with murder.

The police are theorising that Donaldson, who was reported missing on July 13, was killed on July 12, based on forensic evidence. The 23-year-old’s body has not been found.

Maitland’s attorney said his client remains resolute in his position, and wishes to have his day in court.

The accused, who is assigned to the St Andrew North Police Division, was arrested by detectives from the Counter-Terrorism and Organised Crime Investigation Branch on Wednesday in relation to his girlfriend’s disappearance.

Donaldson, whose disappearance has drawn nationwide attention, was first reported missing to the police on July 13, 2022. She had reportedly gone to spend the night with Constable Maitland before her disappearance.

Please see full statement:

Gold and Diamond mining continues to be one of the main economic drivers of development in Guyana and safe, reliable and efficient passenger and cargo services are critical to the success of mining operations.

The GGDMA, therefore wishes to call upon the service providers to make a concerted effort to further improve their overall service. We call upon truck operators and trucking services to stop overloading their trucks. This is critical especially in the rainy season.

An excavator attempting to pull the barge to land

When the roads become deplorable there is more down time and hence increased the operation cost to miners and other hinterland road users, who now have to pay double to have their fuel and other supplies delivered to their camps. Additionally, many of our miners’ trucks and other equipment are being severely damaged due to these deplorable roads. This once again puts additional financial pressure on the miner as unnecessary maintenance cost.

One of the trucks stuck

The Guyana Gold and Diamond Miners Association [GGDMA] is calling on the Government of Guyana to enforce the established Road Users Agreement which stipulates and monitors the weight restrictions for trucks/vehicles transporting fuel and other supplies at key points such as Linden and Bartica. The GGDMA is of the view that some trucking services are damaging the roads, due to the in excessive weights as stipulated in the road users’ agreement, in the interior that has to be used by miners. We also call on the Government to enforce the Road Users Agreement which is fully supported by the GGDMA to encourage a culture of responsible use of interior roads.

Almost three weeks after social media influencer Donna-Lee Donaldson was reported missing on July 13, the police have not given up on finding the body of the woman now presumed dead.

Her boyfriend – police Constable Noel Maitland – was on Tuesday charged with her murder.

Head of the JCF’s Crime and Security Portfolio Deputy Commissioner of Police Fitz Bailey said, based on investigation, the police believe Donaldson was killed between 4pm and 8pm on July 12 on July 13. He said that while investigators have not discovered the body there is forensic evidence that she is dead.

DCP Bailey said that the police have carried out several operations – including a visit to the Riverton City landfill in St Andrew – aimed at recovering Donaldson’s body.

The senior law enforcement officer said that while investigators suspect that Maitland may have acted alone in causing the alleged death of Donaldson, they believe that Maitland received help to dispose of the body.

Donaldson was reported missing on July 13 after she had gone to Maitland’s home.

Family and fans of Donaldson, who was the host of the reality show 876 Roommates, staged several protests days after her disappearance claiming a lack of urgency on the part of the police.

The police, with the help of INDECOM and the Institute of Forensic Science and Legal Health and oversight from the police command, made several breakthroughs in the case, and, by July 26, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions and other stakeholders were brought in for a case review.

By July 27, Maitland was in police custody, taken before the parish court and remanded. On Tuesday, a charge of murder was laid against him.
