According to NBC South Florida news reporter Ryan Nelson, the Miami Gardens Police Department confirmed that multiple people were shot in front of the popular restaurant, The Licking, located in Miami Gardens. The incident reportedly took place during the filming of a French Montana music video shoot, the reporter said.

Miami Gardens Police Detective Diana Gourgue was quoted by NBC Miami as confirming that officers received a ShotSpotter call for help at the restaurant, which is located on Northwest 27th Street. Prince Harry Reveals Shenseea’s Music Helped Him Through Family Strain

Black Immigrant Daily News

Prince Harry is a huge fan of Shenseea music.

Prince Harry has revealed that he is a ShenYeng as he disclosed in his tell-all book that the Jamaican artist’s music helped him through some of his darker days while fighting to extricate himself from the monarchy. The Duke of Sussex has released his book Spare, and he is not sparing any detail as he gets real and raw about his life, including his relationship with American actress and his wife Meghan Markle and the monarchy’s reception of her.

Harry has been making headlines on Thursday as fans, and the media go through the book and come across some of the more scandalous stories he had to share. One of these stories includes how his brother, the elder Prince William assaulted him after an argument.

According to a British tabloid, there is a story in the book which explains the strained relationship between Harry and his brother, as was evident in their interaction at their late grandmother’s funeral last year. The publication said in 2019, Prince William attacked him after they argued over his black wife, Meghan. At the time, William called Meghan “difficult,” “rude,” and “abrasive,” which led to Harry and him arguing.

The Duke and the future British King then grabbed him by his collar, causing his necklace to rip, and threw him to the floor. The fall caused him to break a dog bowl, causing him to suffer scrapes and bruises.

In the meantime, while Harry seems to have gone through some harrowing tales, the 38-year-old father of two also shared how music from artist Shenseea helped him to cope.

According to a Twitter user, the artist said he related to lyrics from Shenseea’s songs to help him deal with exiting the royal family and beginning a new life in California with his wife.

“In the times I felt alone and separated from my family, I always took time to myself to sit back and listen to Shenseea. Her lyrics resonated with me and got me through a lot,” the Duke reportedly said.

In the meantime, Shenseea also seemed pleased that Harry was into her music and even suggested that her song “Rebel,” which asserts that nobody can tell her what to do, suited Harry.

“I know Rebel is his song! That intro is it,” She wrote.

The book will come out on January 10, and William nor Kensington Palace has not responded to the allegations by Prince Harry. The Duke and his wife made bombshell allegations last year in an Oprah interview which insinuated that their departure from the British monarchy may have been because of the racism Meghan felt from within the palace and from British media.

Bounty Killer and Shabba Ranks trade jabs at each other after some recent comments about the lyrical content of young artists in the dancehall space.

Shabba Ranks has gotten on the bad side of Bounty Killer, who unleashed a barrage of insults at him for apparently shading the Warlord, who recently chided younger artists for “dunce” music and lyrics. Both artists, who are legends in dancehall, recently performed at the Jamrock Cruise, but it seems that something Bounty said set Shabba off.

While performing, Bounty Killer reportedly called out artists who were focusing on “dunceness” in music, warning that Jamaica was too influential in promoting unintelligence.

“Ah we a di strongest culture inna di worl’—wah likkke dot pon di map and everybody waan seh ‘bomboclxxt!’…weh a gwaan a bare dunceness, dats why some bwoy ah come sing some dutty, nasty foolishness,” he had said. “People haffi excellent and educated and smart. Boy seh if yuh waan hide tings from black people, put it in a book. Dat mean seh bwoy a celebrate seh they made us illiterate and dunce.”

Shabba Ranks later appeared to address the comments in an On Stage interview, telling Bounty to leave young artists alone.

“Mi hear some big man inna music now, weh every turn dem turn dem beat against di likkle yute dem,” Shabba said while telling elders in the Jamaican music space to allow younger artists to create their own style of music. “Give di yute dem a chance wid dem music. Di yute dem nuh haffi do di music like how we do di music.”

It seems that his statement touched a nerve with Bounty Killer despite not being named by Shabba. On Tuesday, Bounty Killer went on an extensive rant as he called Shabba an “old, lame, run away, back in di days guy.”

On Instagram, he spoke about his 30 years in the entertainment business and his career transforming while Shabba “ran away” from Jamaica.

“Di Gaadzilla, di messiah, di architect. Mi reinvent dis twice time 1992 and 2002 from Scare Dem to Alliance, so no little old lame run away back in di days guy cyaah size up one General. Nuh NPT (no p****y test) else a funeral. Dun chat to a dunce bat. Marshall and General 2002 St Bess 20yrs later and who’s greater,” he shared of himself and Wayne Marshall’s first performance years ago in St. Elizabeth.

Bounty Killer also recognized some dancehall veterans, but not surprisingly, Shabba Ranks was not named on his list.

“Take out unuh note pads Learn and adapt the formula. Ninjaman, Tiger, Professor Nuts, Papa San, to name a few: dem make stage show in Jamaica and mi revolutionize it. Is which show some p***y tek bout ya? Where and when? Post the clips them then mek we see. I never left this for 3 months since mi buss 92 mi carry this pon mi back NPT”, he said in another post.

In another post, he wrote, “Put bloodcl**t respect pon mi 30yrs of consecutive contributions and development to this culture and genre Sir Gaadzilla that’s the term the stalwart the pioneer, the innovator the inventor the general the coach the architech should I continue,” he wrote in reference to him deejaying at Reggae Sunsplash in the 1990s.

Meanwhile, Bounty Killer made it clear who he was speaking to as he responded to a fan that mentioned Jahshii’s infamous Entertainment Report interview, where he said artists like Shabba don’t help upcoming artists.

“Ask Jahshii. For one he will tell u exactly how the youths felt about some elders,” Bounty replied to the comment.

Popcaan Challenges Dancehall Acts: ‘Being At The Top Is Kinda Lonely’

Black Immigrant Daily News

The content originally appeared on: Urban Islandz

Popcaan is teasing his new album, Great Is He, while touting himself as the only artist at the top of dancehall, which seemingly is a challenge to other artists in the genre.

The Unruly Boss has no doubt had an amazing year in 2022, with some big hits and some major performances, including one with Burna Boy in Kingston last December. He is looking to continue that momentum into 2023 with his pending album, Great Is He. While Popcaan has yet to reveal a release date, sources told Urban Islandz that fans can expect the project’s arrival sometime this year, possibly before summer.

While fans await the arrival of the highly anticipated project, Popcaan shared a few stills from some of his biggest moments over the Christmas holiday, including his performance with Beres Hammond in St. Ann to ring in the New Year and some candid photos with his girlfriend, Toni-Ann Singh.

“Defeat the struggles cause we never give up, being at the top is kinda lonely, you know ah mean… you know we have to make it by any means,” Poppy wrote. “We been through the worse times, I see us winning, it is like deja vu. God forgive me wash weh all my sins, grimy life is all we know. #GIHE.”

The hashtag #GIHE stands for his pending album, Great Is He. Toni-Ann Singh, Bounty Killer, Gramps Morgan, and more artists cosign the OVO signee’s statement. “I believe that we can fly high #GIHE,” Singh, who is also a big supporter of the Unruly Boss, wrote.

The deejay has already released two singles off the album, including a collaboration with Toni-Ann Singh, “Next To Me.” He also released a single in December titled “Set It.”

Popcaan is clearly setting the tone for the new year with his message. Even if you don’t agree with his statement about being at the top, we can all agree that he is one of the greatest of this generation’s dancehall acts and will go down in history as one of the greats.

Popcaan has consistently been one of the highest streaming artists in dancehall over the past decade. Last year he racked up approximately 270,000,000 views on YouTube globally, making him one of the top streaming Jamaican artists worldwide. He was also ranked in the top 20 most streamed artists in Jamaica, with 31.9 million views on YouTube.

Burna Boy Apologize After Kicking Fan Climbing Stage At Nigeria Show

Black Immigrant Daily News

The content originally appeared on: Urban Islandz

Burna Boy is facing serious heat after a video surfaced of him giving the boot to a fan who tried to climb onto the stage while he performed in Lagos, Nigeria.

Burna Boy’s Love Damini concert was scheduled for Eko Energy City in Lagos, Nigeria, where the Afrobeats artist was to perform around 9 PM. Irate fans on social media explained that the artist arrived more than six (6) hours late to the event, and he became upset at fans who booed him and chided him.

In one instance, fans say that Burna Boy had them waiting in cold weather and then told them that there were some technical issues with the equipment.

“I still love you and we are still here so if you are not going to love me God will punish una,” Burna Boy told fans in a sort of apology to fans who were loudly booing.

There is also a video showing the artist on stage where he spots a fan attempting to get onto the stage, but instead of calling security, the artist proceeds to kick the fan in his face. The artist has not addressed his actions, but it seems that he might have been aggravated by fans attempting to crash the stage. In another video, a woman is hoisted away by two security guards after she runs onto the stage.

Fans online criticized Burna Boy for the way he treated his fan in contrast to how he treats fans in Europe and in North America, where he has been photographed helping up white fans on stage.

“Burna Boy to White People: “My Africans are suffering. Dance to my music, brand me a reformer, and reward me financially. Burna Boy to the suffering Africans: “God punish una,” one concertgoer wrote.

“Imagine what burna boy had to say. Zero apologies. He really thinks the concert was a favor to Nigerians,” another said.

“He only kicks his Nigerian fans,” another said while sharing a photo of Burna Boy helping up a Caucasian fan on stage and hugging him.

Burna Boy and his stage antics, without fail, make news headlines as the artist has no qualms about disrespecting fans that come for him. In a separate incident months ago, the artist was spotted stopping his performance and digging into the pocket of his orange trousers to give a grumpy fan back his money.

In the video, he says, “go go go,” as he appears to hand money to the upset fan. “Escort this person out of this place please,” he says to security behind him.

In a lengthy message posted on his Instagram Story, Burna Boy blames infrastructure for his performance and pledge to invest in bringing world class infrastructure to his home fans. “I apologise to my fans for how hectic it was, thank you for staying and weathering the storm with me,” he wrote. “I commend my band @fromtheoutsiders for making lemonade with the worst lemons we’ve ever seen!”
