Du matériel numérique livré dans des écoles de la ville de Pointe-à-Pitre

Harry Durimel, maire de la Ville, et l’élu en charge de la communication et du développement numérique: Jimmy Louis ont remis des équipements numériques aux écoles élémentaires pointoises.

52 ordinateurs portables, 11 valises de 12 tablettes ou ordinateurs ultra-portables, vidéo projecteurs, diffuseurs de son, disques de sauvegarde ont été livrés aux écoles Léon Feix , Amédée Fengarol, Fernande Bonchamp et l’école élémentaire de Lauricisque.

Prime Minister and Minister of National Security, Dr. Ralph Gonsalves has again called on the young men of this country to desist from getting involved in criminal activity.

The Prime Minister was speaking at the opening of the New Pavilion at the Layou Playing Field yesterday.

El informe preliminar de COVID-19 del Departamento de Salud (DS) reportó el miércoles 7 muertes y 258 personas hospitalizadas.

La cantidad total de muertes atribuidas es de 5,053.

Hay 233 adultos y 25 menores hospitalizados. Este monitoreo cubre el periodo del 28 de agosto al 11 de septiembre de 2022.

La tasa de positividad está a 20 por ciento.

2 more covid19 deaths, 146 new cases

TWO more people have died of covid19, said the Ministry of Health in its daily update on Tuesday. Meanwhile, 146 new infections were confirmed.

The deceased are two elderly males, one with multiple comorbidities and one with a single. Trinidad and Tobago now has 5,027 active cases.

Since the virus reached TT in March 2020, some 4,176 people have died.

Of these, as of September 7 some 3,463 were not fully vaccinated, 313 were fully vaccinated, and 390 deaths occurred before May 24, 2021 when vaccination began.

Of all covid19 patients between July 22, 2021 and September 7, some 16,487 (79.4 per cent) were not fully vaccinated; 4,266 (20.6 per cent) per cent were fully vaccinated.

During the pandemic, 181,567 patients have tested positive, of whom 172,364 recovered.

At present, 4,823 are in home self-isolation, 191 in hospital and 13 in step-down facilities.

To date, 828,256 people have been tested, of whom 336,427 were tested at private facilities and 491,829 public facilities.

Of TT’s population, 51.2 per cent are now fully vaccinated, namely 716,708 people, compared to 683,292 who have had no doses or just a first dose.

Of those people who are fully vaccinated, some 658,569 had the second dose of a two-dose regime and 58,139 a single-dose regime.

Some 695,264 people have had the first of a two-dose regime. Some 168,483 have had a booster dose.

THE Prime Minister is expected to have a meeting with US vice president Kamala Harris as part of his trip to that country.

Dr Rowley left Trinidad on Tuesday, a release from the Office of the Prime Minister confirmed.

The PM is expected to attend a hearing of the US House of Representatives Committee on Financial Services on the impacts of de-risking on the Caribbean on Wednesday.

That hearing will be held under the auspices of the chairwoman of the House Committee on Financial Services, Congresswoman Maxine Waters.

On Thursday, Rowley is scheduled to meet with Harris. who will meet with the Action Committee Caribbean Leaders.

These committees were established after the high-level meeting between Caricom/Cariforum leaders, US President Joseph Biden and Harris in June, during the ninthSummit of the Americas in Los Angeles, California.

The Prime Minister is the co-chair of the US/Caribbean Energy Security Action Committee.

Minister of Energy Stuart Young is accompanying the Prime Minister.

Finance Minister Colm Imbert will act as prime minister until Rowley’s return.

The Monsignor Patrick Anthony Folk Research Centre (FRC) is pleased to announce the return of traditional celebrations of Mwa Ewitaj Kwéyòl and Jounen Kwéyòl for 2022.

This year’s theme is Kilti sé Djéwizon- Culture Heals.

The theme seeks to underscore and promote the role of culture in the formative development of our society not merely after the crippling health effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, but also in terms of the educational, social, human, political, and economic challenges that impact our independent development.

The host communities for this year’s Jounen Kwéyòl celebrations are Castries and Choiseul.

POINT Fortin MP Kennedy Richards Jr says the new Mahaica Oval in Point Fortin will be be commissioned “in short order.”

In a Facebook post, Richards said he toured the oval this week with Udecott chairman Noel Garcia and other Udecott officials.

He posted photos saying he was giving the public an “exclusive look at the new Mahaica Oval” after he visited to “view the conclusive works of this new sporting facility.

“In short order this long-awaited complex would be commissioned for use by the people of Point Fortin and the southwest peninsula. (It is) a facility that was the training ground of many sport champions and flag-bearers.”
