Un accident de la circulation survenu en début d’après-midi au quartier Paquemar a fait trois blessés ce lundi 1er août, dont un enfant.
Un accident de la circulation a eu lieu ce lundi au quartier Paquemar, vers 13h25. Il s’agirait d’un véhicule seul en cause qui, pour une raison indéterminée, aurait fait une sortie de route.
Les pompiers du François et du Vauclin, sollicités sur place, ont pris en charge deux femmes légèrement blessées.
En revanche, ils ont également porté assistance à un enfant de 7 ans, qui se trouvait à l’arrière du véhicule avec sa mère et sa grand-mère. Inconscient à leur arrivée, le garçon a dû être évacué vers le CHU de Martinique par Dragon 972, l’hélicoptère de la Sécurité Civile. À ce stade, aucune autre précision n’a été communiquée sur son état de santé.
Une enquête de gendarmerie est ouverte sur les circonstances de l’accident.

Ce lundi 1er août, à la demande du ministre de l’intérieur et des Outre-mer, Gérald Darmanin, Jean-François Carenco, le ministre délégué, a réuni un COPIL extraordinaire, ce lundi 1er août, rue Oudinot, ” afin d’accélérer et d’innover sur la lutte contre les sargasses à l’aune des premiers retours des comités territoriaux “.
Le plan sargasses II a été adopté en 2022. Mais, malgré un plan de plus de 36 millions d’euros sur 4 ans, les collectivités rencontrent toujours des difficultés dans la collecte des sargasses qui s’échouent sur nos côtes.
Depuis plusieurs mois, les échouages sont massifs, notamment aux Antilles.
” Dans l’immédiat, pour résoudre la problématique du ramassage rapide, une augmentation à 80% de la part du cofinancement de l’Etat sera accordée, et ce jusqu’au 15 octobre. Le reste à charge des collectivités locales sera de 20% pendant cette période période “, précise le ministère, qui indique également qu’une partie de la subvention pourra être versée par anticipation.

À court terme, un opérateur unique ” service public anti-sargasses ” sera mis en place au plus tard fin octobre 2022 pour centraliser les besoins, les moyens, les mesures et les responsabilités sur chaque territoire.
Les mesures sanitaires, environnementales, de recherche et d’innovation prévues dans le plan Sargasses II se poursuivent. Les comités de pilotage se réunissent désormais tous les 15 jours.

For the next five days, the NHC does not expect new tropical cyclones to form. However, the agency is monitoring four unnamed tropical waves, including two in the Caribbean and Atlantic, that are expected to be active for the next 24 hours.
The first wave is located north of Africa’s Cape Verde, moving at a speed of 17 mph, and is surrounded by Saharan dust, according to Naples Daily News. The second wave is being monitored in the central Atlantic between the British Virgin Islands and Cape Verde moving west at 19 mph while also embedded in Saharan dust.
The Caribbean has one wave traveling west at 18 mph just south of Puerto Rico and the fourth wave in the central Caribbean moving west at 17 mph just south of the Cuban capital city of Havana.
A tropical wave can help spawn a storm or hurricane in the Main Development Region, the area between the coast of Africa and Central America where most African waves originate and moves 3,500 miles across the Atlantic Ocean. However, some storms may make it to the US coastlines or part of the Caribbean island, but others do curve harmlessly north toward the open ocean.
This summer, tropical storms have not materialized near the same frequency as years prior. The last-named tropical storm was on July 2, and there have only been four occasions between July 3 and August 4 when the Atlantic has had no named storms.
These tropical waves usually develop off the west African coast in August and, if conditions allow for it, turn into tropical developments during the Hurricane season. However, Saharan dust cross moving through the Atlantic is contributing to the low frequency of these storms.
The dust suppresses tropical cyclones and keeps waves from manifesting into tropical developments due to the warmth, dryness, and strong winds. During the late spring and summer, these dust clouds travel thousands of miles from the African Sarah desert.

LEFT-ARM pace bowler Obed McCoy took six wickets for 17 runs and opener Brandon King struck a polished 68 as the West Indies won the second T20 International against India by five wickets, at the Warner Park, Basseterre, St Kitts on Monday.
The start of the game was delayed by three hours due to the late arrival of luggage from Trinidad to St Kitts.
However, when play got underway, India, who were sent in to bat first, struggled against the variations of McCoy, who took career-best figures; the visitors were dismissed for 138 runs off 19.4 overs. Fellow pace bowler Jason Holder took 2/23 while, for India, Hardik Pandya made 31, Ravindra Jadeja 27 and Rishabh Pant 24.
King struck eight fours and two sixes in his 52-ball knock, while Devon Thomas chipped in with an unbeaten 31 (19 balls, two sixes and a four) as the West Indies responded with 141/5, with four deliveries to spare.
India won the first T20 International by 68 runs last Friday, at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy, Tarouba.
The third T20 International will be contested on Tuesday while the other two matches in the series will take place in Lauderhill, Florida, United States on August 6 and 7.

BBC: An American counter-terrorism operation in Afghanistan has killed the al-Qaeda leader, Ayman al-Zawahiri, US media are reporting.
They say he was killed in a drone strike carried out by the CIA in the Afghan capital, Kabul, on Sunday.
There is no independent confirmation of this at present.
However, the White House says that President Joe Biden will give details of the operation in Afghanistan in the next few hours.
CBS News said three sources had confirmed the killing of the al-Qaeda leader. The New York Times, Washington Post and CNN also quoted unidentified sources identifying the victim.
A senior US official has spoken of a “successful” operation against a “significant” al-Qaeda target in Afghanistan.
The operation took place over the weekend and there were no civilian casualties, the official added.
At the same time, a Taliban spokesman reported that a US drone strike had taken place on Sunday in a residential area of Kabul.
He described it as a clear violation of international principles.

The Sanitation Service Authority (SSA) workers were no less efficient this year than in the past after the Grand Kadooment parade.
The route for 2022 may have been new but it’s not the first time that the revelers began their jump in Warrens and the SSA had their game plan well thought out.
Acting Superintendent, SSA, Shernell Beckles stopped assisting her team of 25 to chat with Loop quickly.
“We have fewer bands and so the garbage on the ground is a little less,” reported Beckles. The team on the ground was accompanied by four truck crews. They were out and sweeping from about 1pm after the last masquerade band started its jump.
The parking lots including those at the Massy Superstore, Digicel/Ace H&B, and Dome Mall/FCIB were cleared by approximately 2pm, before the revelers band even got underway.
Expected for a 1:30pm arrival, the revelers band accompanied by members of the Barbados Defence Force and the Barbados Police Service did not depart from Warrens until around at 2:30pm. By then the roadway was practically clear, as persons did not think that there would still have been the revelers truck. But those who remained patiently, were rewarded an hour later, and they orderly gathered behind the truck led by two police jeeps and surrounded by numerous armed defence personnel.
As the revelers partied from Warrens to the Clyde B Walcott roundabout at Hothersal Turning, the SSA workers continued to pick up the trash and clear the route kilometre by kilometre.

Eric Guyader, directeur du centre hospitalier (CH) de Beauvais, est nommé directeur général du CHU de la Guadeloupe à compter du 15 septembre, dans un décret publié dimanche au Journal officiel.
Eric Guyader a auparavant dirigé le Centre hospitalier de Douarnenez en Bretagne.
Il connait l’Outre-mer, car il a été inspecteur des affaires sanitaires et sociales en Martinique, à la DDASS (Direction Départementale des Affaires Sanitaires et Sociales) entre 1985 et 1993.
Les principaux dossiers qui l’attendent sont:
– la réintégration des soignants non vaccinés et le recrutement de nouveaux personnels.
– les finances du centre hospitalier.
– la construction du nouveau CHU.
