Warmington tells Hylton he is ‘only fit for Riverton City dump’ Loop Jamaica

Member of Parliament (MP) for St Catherine South West, the Jamaica Labour Party’s (JLP) Everald Warmington, has for the second time in a year, referred to his Opposition counterpart, Anthony Hylton, as a “quashie lawyer”.

Warmington did so during Wednesday’s sitting of the House of Representatives, but this time he also told Hylton, the MP for St Andrew Western, that “the only place you fit for is Riverton City, the dump”.

The main national landfill or dump is located at Riverton City in Hylton’s constituency.

The latest verbal onslaught was in response to an off-mic comment Hylton made as Warmington, who arrived late to the sitting, defended his record of punctuality as he explained his reason for being late on that occasion.

Earlier, House Speaker Marisa Dalrymple-Philibert lashed out at MPs over what she perceived to be their indifferent attitudes towards Parliament, as with the clock approaching 2:20 pm, the House lacked the required quorum of 16 members to be properly convened.

Dalrymple-Philibert said the situation was an “embarrassment” for the highest court of the land, with the MP for Central Kingston, Donovan Williams, arriving just seconds before the sitting would have been called off.

Among other things, ‘quashie’ is described as “an unsophisticated or gullible male black peasant”.

As he responded to Hylton, Warmington shouted, “Don’t you ever dare do that again!

“”Anybody can say that except a quashie lawyer, so don’t you do that again,” he added while ignoring the speaker’s attempts to calm him.

Warmington, who is infamous for his crude remarks and uncouth behaviour, appeared more incensed when Hyltyon, with a wry smile, followed by a frown, waved off the ‘quashie’ comments , which he has apparently gotten accustomed to.

“The only place you fit for is Riverton City, the dump, so don’t you ever do that…. disrespectful and rude!” said Warmington as he continued the verbal assault.

Of note is the fact that Wednesday’s attack on Hylton by Warmington came almost one year to the date when he referred to him as a quashie lawyer in the constituency debates which are once more under way.

On that occasion, Warmington told Deputy House Speaker, Juliet Holness, that he would not withdraw the remark unless Hylton provided proof of a single case that he had won in the courts.

Hylton obliged and did so the following week when he referenced the landmark case of Shanique Myrie vs the Government of Barbados, which was heard before the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ).

In upbraiding Warmington on that occasion, Holness agreed with Hylton that it was not the first time she had heard Warmington make the statement, but said it was the first time he had done so while she sat in the speaker’s chair and, as such, she felt she had to address the matter.

Juliet Holness

“Whether or not you feel it is offensive or insulting language does not necessarily prevent such a statement from being at the very least, inappropriate,” Holness said then as she charged members to show respect for each other.

On Wednesday there was no such dressing down by Dalyrymple-Philibert, and Warmington, who is Minister without Portfolio in the Ministry of Economic Growth and Job Creation, has often been cheered on by his Government colleagues, with some seeming to find his behaviour funny.

5 ways to create a millionaire mindset Loop Jamaica

Black Immigrant Daily News

You want to be a millionaire, but do you have the mindset it takes to create wealth?

To be a millionaire, you have to think like a millionaire. People often hope for success and wish that money will come without putting in the work.

But as the saying goes: “hope floats…action flies”, meaning stop hoping and wishing for abundant wealth. Start planning on it and take action.

In the end, it all begins with your mindset about money. If you believe it, you can achieve it.

Here are some tips on how you can create a millionaire mindset:

1) Get the mind aligned. How you think, especially about money and wealth, limits your achievement in those areas. In other words, if you have a negative perception of money, for example thinking that money is the root of all evil, you have already eliminated yourself from wealth. The relationship you have with money in your head becomes the one you have in reality.

2) Surround yourself with like-minded people. Surround yourself with people who share similar thought patterns about money and wealth as you do. Doing so helps to reinforce your beliefs and support your goals. Get out there and find a mentor or teacher. Do not be afraid to talk with others who are more successful than you are and interact with them and learn from them.

3) Be clear and SMART when setting your goals. That is Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Time-bound. The “SMART”er your goals, the more they will motivate and sustain you. Be very specific in the cost of the goals you want. What will it cost to build that dream house? How much is it to take that luxury vacation you always wanted? Put pen to paper and know your numbers!

4) Tell everyone. This does not mean bragging. However, being comfortable about sharing your goals with others creates accountability. If you are confident enough in what you can accomplish, then you will not be afraid to “put it out there.”

5) Live the life. If you want to be a millionaire, you need to live like a millionaire. This does not mean you have to live a lavish lifestyle you cannot afford, but rather you need to monitor your way of thinking. Is there something you can do now that will give you a taste of your future? By finding one thing you can do now that will make you feel like a millionaire, by any means go do it.

When you think about it, as an entrepreneur, the way you think about money and wealth is critical to your success. It is the most important factor in your success. Go out there and create the future you want to have. After all, money is possible, and we only have one shot to make this our best life!

It was a late-night telephone call that no mother wants to receive.

But on Wednesday night after 11:00 pm, Dorine Gustave got one – a voice on the other end relaying the tragic news that her son Lindel Gustave had been shot.

Dorine recalled running out of her home screaming, and when she arrived at the scene, she found her 35-year-old son lying on the ground.

“I told him just to hold on for his three-year-old. I said, ‘My boy, just hold on. The ambulance is on its way’, but it took so long to get there,” the mother told St Lucia Times.

She said her son was a hard worker who often left his workshop at about midnight.

“He was just finishing two caskets to deliver this morning, and when he was done, he went to get something to eat,” the mother recounted.

According to the police, at about 11:15 pm, they received a report regarding a shooting at Forestiere, Castries.

On arrival, investigators discovered that one of three unknown assailants had fatally wounded Lindel Gustave during a robbery at a nearby establishment in which they escaped with valuables they stole from the proprietor.

Lindel’s mother told St Lucia Times it was sad that young people are being killed by others who do not want to work but take what others have.

She told St Lucia Times that the bandits took her son’s bag containing documents.

” He was handling the sale of a vehicle. I don’t know if he had any money,” the tearful mother said.

“I should not be burying my son who was working so hard,” she declared.

The mother said her deceased son was one of the sweetest young men anyone could meet – the family’s comedian whom everyone loved.

She recalled that he had many acquaintances but not many friends.

Dorine was waiting for her son to come home when she received the news about the fatal shooting.
