Spirit Airlines today launched direct flights from Connecticut’s Bradley International Airport (BDL) in Hartford to Sangster International Airport (MBJ) in Montego Bay. It is the first ever nonstop flight from Connecticut to Jamaica.

JetBlue Airways will reportedly be adding once-daily flights between New York-LaGuardia and Nassau, The Bahamas in spring 2023.

This week, JetBlue also announced the addition of nonstop, once-daily seasonal flights from LaGuardia Airport (LGA) to Bermuda (BDA). All new JetBlue routes will go on sale in January 2023.

The Antigua Cruise Port has welcomed the return of the regional ferry service, L’Express des Iles from Guadeloupe.

American Airlines is expanding its nonstop service from Miami to Anguilla this winter. From November 3 through December 17, American Airlines will operate 8 flights a week to Anguilla, and for the festive season, between December 18 and January 8, 2023, the island will see 11 flights a week operating between Miami International (MIA) and Anguilla (AXA).

The par-72 golf course by architect Ron Kirby is now open at the Apes Hill Barbados with stunning views over the Caribbean Sea to the west and Atlantic Ocean to the east.

The Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday flight service departs MBIA at 11:20 am and arrives in Port of Spain at noon, offering convenient connections to the Toronto flight service.

The US is warning darker skinned U.S. citizens and U.S. citizens of African descent to be wary of travel to the Dominican Republic. The US says U.S. citizens travelling there in recent months have reported being delayed, detained, or subject to heightened questioning at ports of entry and in other encounters with immigration officials based on their skin color.

Canadians are warned to avoid all travel to Haiti due to the threat posed by kidnappings, gang violence and the potential for civil unrest throughout the country.

Canada is warning travelers to exercise a high degree of caution if travelling to The Bahamas, Guyana, the Dominican Republic and Trinidad and Tobago, due to high crime rates.

Bermuda is making it easier for travelers to return, removing both the entry fee and travel authorization for Americans and other foreigners. From now on, completing a Bermuda Arrival Card is the only requirement applying to tourists arriving via air.

Jamaica’s air connectivity out of Europe has received a major boost with the return of Neos Air direct flights out of Malpensa Airport in Italy to the Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay. From December 23, Neos Air will operate a second flight from Verona, Italy.

Bahamian carrier Aztec Airways has added another new nonstop route between Fort Lauderdale and the island of Great Harbour Cay in the Berry Islands. The Airways, which has long operated service to a host of destinations across The Bahamas, is now operating service to both the private-island destination of Chub Cay and to Great Harbour Cay.
The routes are operating twice each week.

The US is warning Americans to reconsider travel to the twin island Republic of Trinidad and Tobago due to rising crime, terrorism and kidnapping in the country.

As of November 14, travellers will be able to access direct non-stop air service between Jamaica and the Dominican Republic. The region’s newest airline, Arajet, took to the skies with direct flights between Santo Domingo and Kingston for US$252 round-trip and travel time of under two hours.

Frontier Airlines has selected the Jamaican doctor bird to adorn one of the tails of its plane for 2023. The carrier has also named the bird ‘Stewart,’ after the late Gordon “Butch” Stewart, founder of Sandals Resorts International and advocate for Jamaica’s tourism.

This comes as Frontier launched new air service from Atlanta’s Hartsfield Jackson International Airport (ATL) to Norman Manley International Airport (KIN) in Kingston two times weekly on Mondays and Fridays.

American Airlines has launched a new nonstop route to the island of Grand Bahama in The Bahamas. The world’s largest airline has kicked off new service between Charlotte, North Carolina and Freeport, Grand Bahama.

Canadians are being warned to avoid all travel to Haiti.

The Canadian government is warning nationals to exercise a high degree of caution if travelling to Jamaica, the Dominican Republic and the Bahamas due to crime in those countries.

Trinidad and Tobago is the only Caribbean country that has made the National Geographic Top 25 ‘Best of the World’ Destinations for 2023.

St. Maarten now no longer requires visitors to show proof of vaccination or a negative test result to enter the country as it lifts all COVID-19 restrictions.

As of November 2, 2022, all travelers on U.S. sailings on Royal Caribbean cruises, regardless of vaccination status — will no longer require pre-departure testing except if travelling to Haiti, Colombia, Honduras or Australia.

However, The Dominican Republic’s General Immigration Directorate recently confirmed that most visitors arriving from Brazil, Colombia, or Venezuela must present a yellow fever vaccination certificate to enter the country.

JetBlue has relaunched its service between New York City and Guadeloupe’s Pointe a Pitre International Airport in Grand-Terre. The restarted service is operating three times each week, with flights on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Canadian travel giant Sunwing is relaunching more service to Jamaica, Cuba, Grenada and the Dominican Republic from Ottawa this month.

Cayman Airways’ new Grand Cayman-Los Angeles service will operate year-round on a weekly basis, starting on Saturday, November 5th, returning from Los Angeles on Sundays, on Boeing 737-8 aircraft.

British Airways will add a fifth weekly flight from London Heathrow to Grand Cayman in March with service on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays via Nassau.

A Lobster Festival Returns to This Caribbean Island

News Americas, ROAD TOWN, TORTOLA, BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS, Fri. Nov. 4, 2022: It will be lobster time this November 25th in the Caribbean Island of the BVI as the Anegada Lobster Festival, (ALF), returns.

From November 25 to 27th, the festival will welcome foodies from around the world to Anegada to celebrate the shared love of food, music, and fun. It will kick off with a “lobster crawl,” a bar crawl covering many of the island’s favorite watering holes.
 

Ten restaurants on Anegada are anxiously looking forward to preparing their specialties for all to sample.  Festivalgoers will have the opportunity to indulge in lobster prepared in over ten different ways – lobster wraps, lobster ice-cream, and grilled lobster, to name a few.  This scavenger hunt-styled event encourages everyone to take advantage of the many available ways to get around the island while exploring all the participating restaurants and attractions on Anegada.

In addition to delectable dishes from ten restaurants, there are amazing prizes and giveaways in store for everyone”, said Director of Tourism of the BVI Tourist Board & Film Commission (BVITB&FC),  Clive McCoy. “In addition to promoting gastronomical tourism, the event is expected to promote the major attractions to explore and the activities to experience on Anegada.”
 
The Anegada Lobster Festival is a welcoming event that caters to all food palates.  Each restaurant will feature food for all dietary preferences, in addition to entertainment by live bands or popular deejays.
