Kelis Says Beyonce Has No Soul Over Song Sample, Gets Backlash

Kelis gets backlash from Beyhive after calling out Beyonce over alleged song sample.

Beyoncé is being accused of having no integrity and having “no soul” after Kelis claims that one of her songs was sampled for the singer’s Renaissance album to be released on Friday, July 29.

On Thursday, Kelis reacted to news that she was sampled for the album noting that she was not informed before the album tracklist was released.

“My mind is blown too because the level of disrespect and utter ignorance of all 3 parties involved is astounding. I heard about this the same way everyone else did,” Kelis wrote from her Bountyandfull Instagram account.

She was responding to a Kelis fan page sharing that her song “Energy” was sampled for Beyoncé’s album. The singer blasted Beyoncé for not informing her about the song.

“Nothing is ever as it seems, some of the people in this business have no soul or integrity and they have everyone fooled,” her status said.

In other comments, Kelis also claimed that Beyoncé stole her music.

“It’s not a collab it’s theft,” she said in response to a fan saying that “that’s a collab the world really needs.”

This is the second time an artist has called out Beyoncé for sampling their track without the respect to at least call and speak with the artist.

Last month, Beyoncé released her title track, “Break My Soul,” which sampled Robin S.’s “Show Me Love (Stonebridge Mix).” The song release, however, caused controversy as Robin claimed she was unaware that the singer was sampling her song. In a Good Morning Britain interview, Robin claimed that her son called her and told her her song was sampled after it was released.

Beyoncé later sent Robin flowers as she thanked her for her art.

In the meantime, in her note on Thursday, Beyoncé shared a little more about the upcoming album after confirming that it is a three-part series that she called “an act.” She also expressed gratitude to her children, husband, family, team, and friends, including the artists she says inspired her to create the music she did.

“Thank you to all of the pioneers who originate culture, to all of the fallen angels whose contributions have gone unrecognized for far too long. This is a celebration for you,” She said in the lengthy post.

“I just heard the record everyone is saying has my sample,” Kelis wrote. “But it’s beyond this song at this point. This was a TRIGGER for me. Milkshake alone is one of the most licensed records of our generation. I am a creator, I’m an innovator, I have done more then left my mark on an era of music and style that will go down in history. But there are bully’s and secrets and gangsters in this industry that smile and get away with it until someone says enough is enough. So I’m saying it today. I’m coming for what’s mine and I want reparations. Peace.”

So far, this is the messiest album release for the artist as her album was leaked days ago in Europe, and CDs of the project were being sold in stores. On the other hand, Beyoncé has not responded to Kelis’ claim.

Meanwhile, Beyonce’s BeyHive is responding to Kelis on Twitter.

Quando Rondo says rumors of him being hospitalized fighting for life are true.

The one thing hip-hop fans don’t need to hear again is that another young rapper has lost their life. Thankfully, Quando Rondo has dispelled rumors that he is fighting for his own in hospital.

It all started yesterday, July 27, when rumors began circulating that the “Scarred From Life” rapper was knocking on heaven’s door at a hospital. One of the rumors included that the Georgia rapper allegedly took to his Instagram Stories to ask fans to pray for him while he was being treated in a hospital for unknown reasons.

“Pray for me, in da hospital fightin for my life,” he allegedly posted.

It didn’t take long for him to get wind of what was happening and instantly debunk the news. “That’s sh*t fake a*s hell I don’t even type like that,” he posted while also sharing a pic of him seated on a plane.

Quando Rondo seems to be trending these days and just earlier this month announced that he had broken up with his girlfriend, but he wasn’t stressed about it because NBA YoungBoy had gifted him $1 million.

Not even a week after that announcement, Quando Rondo allegedly had $10,000 stolen from him. He went on Instagram Live to share his disgust and anger over the incident with his fans.

“You snatched that shit out my girl hand and ran when I been bout to hit with your brother b*tch…b*tch only reason I was calling you was to try and slime your ass and make you think we was cool. Scary as$ ho,” he said at that time.

Fans will be happy to know that he’s alive and well.

Kelis Calls Out Pharrell Williams and Beyonce Calls Sample ‘Disrespectful’

Black Immigrant Daily News

Kelis took to social media on Thursday night as she explained why she felt disrespected by the Beyoncé sample, which was never brought to her attention.

On her Instagram account, she released a video where she claimed that Beyoncé knows or ought to know her actions are offensive, and she also called out Pharrell Williams, who she also blamed for being involved.

Kelis was bashed by fans of the “Brown Skin Girl” artist on Thursday morning after she commented on the news of the sample where she accused Beyoncé of not having “integrity” and “no soul.”

She had shared in a comment section of a fan page that she became aware of the sample just like that everyone else, and in another comment, she claimed that the sample of her creativity without her permission was “theft.”

Beyoncé’s fans did not take too lightly to the comments, and many of them told Kelis she should be grateful an artist of such caliber was putting her in a song.

Kelis, however, pushed back against the comments in a video she shared on her Instagram account.

“It’s not about me being jealous. Jealous of someone using my song? That’s the dumbest, most ignorant thing I’ve ever heard,” Kelis said.

“It has to do with the fact that, from one artist to another, you should have the decency and common sense and the courtesy to call,” she added.

She continued, “The issue is, not only are we female artists, Black female artists in an industry — there’s not that many of us. We’ve met each other, we know each other, we have mutual friends. It’s not hard. She can contact, right?”

She also lashed out at Pharrell Williams, who reportedly owns her masters and with whom she has had issues, and claimed that both artists were disrespectful to her.

“The reality is that it’s frustrating. I have the right to be frustrated,” she said in the first video she released. “Why did no one have the human decency to call and be like ‘Yo, hey, [I’d] would like to use your record’… Pharrell knows better. This is a direct hit at me. He does this all the time, it’s very petty,” she said.

“The reason why I’m annoyed is because I know it was on purpose. This was an on-purpose, direct hit,” she added.

Kelis also corrected fans that her song “Energy,” released in 1999, which the Roc Nation artist sampled for her new track named “Get Along With You,” is not a collaboration even though she apparently received credits on the track.

“It’s called thievery because… the definition of collaboration means that we are working together,” she said before adding, “there’s no working together if you are not even checking to see if everything’s cool.”

Kelis also called out Beyoncé for being a hypocrite as she projects herself as a beacon of empowerment.

“The reality is, all of this female empowerment, it only counts if you really do it,” she said. “If you’re really living it and walking the walk. Don’t just talk the talk.”

“I think that really something needs to change. And this just might be the fuel that I needed to actually do it,” Kelis said as she highlighted that using other artists songs without permission has become commonplace and has to stop.

Beyoncé nor her label has commented on the controversy regarding the track. Her album also appears on track to be released on July 29.
