As part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month observed in October, the Bureau of Health Education within the Ministry of Health, Wellness and Elderly Affairs will host a series of activities aimed at raising awareness on breast health and encouraging the adoption of healthy habits to prevent breast cancer.

Health Educator in the Bureau of Health Education, Nadiege Smith-Lambert, spoke on the need to ensure information on breast health is widely available, and to encourage healthy behaviors such as screening and physical activity.

“For the 2022 observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Ministry of Health has decided to focus on ensuring that women are knowledgeable of breast screening services within their communities and that they are taking advantage of those services,” she said. “The Bureau of Health Education has also decided to continue placing special focus on young ladies from their adolescent years into their productive years, aged 12-40, engaging them at schools, workplaces and wellness centres.”

Smith-Lambert said it is necessary that the focus of raising awareness on breast cancer prevention be tied in with physical activity.

“The theme for this year’s observance is “Saint Lucia MOVES – MOVE to fight Breast Cancer” with the acronym for MOVE being:

M- Mobilize schools, families, workplaces and communities

O- Offer and access screening services within our communities

V- Varied age appropriate physical activity

E- Educate on breast health and healthy eating habits

“The theme was chosen in light of the recently launched Saint Lucia Moves Campaign which encourages physical activity within schools, workplaces and communities.”

The Health Educator also spoke on upcoming breast cancer awareness activities and encouraged Saint Lucians to participate. Activities for this year includes:

Pink Fridays – Work places and communities are invited to dress in pink or decorate work stations or the main entrance in pink with a message to generate visibility and demonstrate their championing of the cause of breast cancer prevention. Community members are invited to access screening services at the various Wellness Centres around the island.
Host a number of Breast health education seminars and screening activities throughout the month of October at workplaces.
Engage secondary school-aged ladies on Breast Health

Saint Lucians can access free breast screenings at various wellness centres during the month of October. The Bureau of Health Education also calls for the celebration of breast cancer survivors and warriors.

Three men in court for armed robbery on Dorcy Drive Loop Cayman Islands

On March 29, the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS) reported that an armed robbery occurred at a service station on Dorcy Drive, George Town. During that incident, one man allegedly entered the service station carrying a firearm, fired a single shot upward, and demanded cash. He, allegedly, then took a quantity of cash from a customer and fled the location on the motorcycle along with the other man. The RCIPS is now reporting that they have arrested and charged three men in relation to the armed robbery.

The first man, age 31 of Cayman Brac, was arrested on September 23. He was charged with Possession of an Unlicensed Firearm, Robbery and Conspiracy to Commit Robbery. He appeared in court on September 26, and was remanded pending a further appearance.

The second man, age 41 of George Town, was arrested on September 27. He was charged with Robbery and Conspiracy to Commit Robbery. He appeared in court on September 28 and was remanded pending a further appearance.

The third man, age 25 of West Bay, was arrested on September 29 and charged with Conspiracy to Commit Robbery. He was scheduled to appear in court yesterday (September 30).

Le Nicaraga se retouve samedi encore plus isolé sur la scène internationale après que le président Daniel Ortega a refusé l’arrivée de l’ambassadeur désigné par les Etats-Unis puis rompu les relations diplomatiques avec les Pays-Bas.

Sept mois après l’expulsion du nonce apostolique, et au lendemain de la notification de celle de l’ambassadrice de l’Union européenne, le pays d’Amérique centrale a ajouté un pays à sa liste noire.

Le Nicaragua a coupé les ponts vendredi soir avec le gouvernement des Pays-Bas qualifié d’”interventionniste” et de “néocolonial”, après que son ambassadrice eut informé que La Haye renonçait à financer la construction d’un hôpital dans le cadre de la coopération.

L’ambassadrice des Pays-Bas Christine Pirenne, accréditée auprès du gouvernement de Managua mais basée au Costa Rica, avait rencontré jeudi le ministre nicaraguayen des Affaires étrangères Denis Moncada pour l’en informer.

Mme Pirenne, qui a regagné vendredi le Costa Rica, a tenu “un discours piétinant la dignité” du peuple nicaraguayen, a accusé M. Ortega. “Dehors ! “, a-t-il tonné.

Quelques heures plus tôt vendredi, la la vice-présidente nicaraguayenne Rosario Murillo, également épouse du président Daniel Ortega, avait prévenu que le nouvel ambassadeur américain Hugo Rodriguez n’entrerait pas” au Nicaragua, invoquant l’attitude “d’ingérence” du diplomate américain.

– “Messieurs les impérialistes” –

“M. Hugo Rodriguez, nous le répétons, ne sera admis en aucun cas au Nicaragua (…) Que ces messieurs les impérialistes se le tiennent pour dit: ici, Hugo Rodriguez n’entrera pas”, a déclaré Mme Murillo, qui a lu une note du ministère des Affaires étrangères dans une communication aux médias officiels.

Le ministère nicaraguayen des Affaires étrangères souligne avoir averti Washington dès le 28 juillet que la nomination de M. Rodriguez comme ambassadeur à Managua ne serait pas acceptée, en raison de son attitude “d’ingérence insigne, de son irrespect, dont l’accréditation représentait une offense”, après avoir qualifié le régime de Managua de “dictature” lors de son audition par le Sénat américain durant le processus de nomination.

Commentant la décision des autorités de Managua, Mme Murillo a qualifié d’”insolite” la décision de Washington de confirmer la nomination de M. Rodriguez.

Cette décision intervient au lendemain de la notification à l’ambassadrice de l’Union européenne Bettina Muscheidt de son expulsion par le ministre des Affaires étrangères Denis Moncada. Celle-ci devrait quitter le pays samedi, selon des sources diplomatiques.

L’ambassadeur du Vatican, le nonce apostolique Waldemar Sommertag, a été expulsé en mars, une décision inédite dans le monde. Le Vatican avait fait part de son “incompréhension et de son regret”.

Le Saint-Siège avait rappelé “sa participation en tant que témoin et accompagnateur à la table du dialogue national entre le gouvernement et l’opposition politique, en vue de la réconciliation du pays et de la libération des prisonniers politiques”, pour tenter de trouver une issue à la crise ouverte par des manifestations en 2018 pour réclamer la démission de M. Ortega et de Mme Murillo.

La répression avait fait au moins 355 morts, selon les organisations de défense des droits humains.

Mgr Sommertag n’a, à ce jour, pas été remplacé à Managua.

Le président Ortega a refusé mercredi soir la main tendue du pape, qui insiste sur la nécessité de “dialogue”, en qualifiant l’Eglise catholique de “dictature parfaite, de tyrannie parfaite”.

En mars également, le chef de la mission du Comité international de la Croix-Rouge (CICR) Thomas Ess avait été expulsé, sans explication.

Le mois suivant, le bureau de l’Organisation des Etats américains (OEA) avait été fermé et son représentant prié de quitter le pays. Déjà en décembre 2018, la délégation de la Commission interaméricaine des droits de l’homme de l’OEA (CIDH) avait été expulsée.

Daniel Ortega a été réélu pour un quatrième mandat consécutif lors d’un scrutin d’où étaient absents tous ses adversaires potentiels de poids, arrêtés ou contraints à l’exil.

La communauté internationale n’a de cesse de condamner la dérive du régime. L’UE et les Etats-Unis ont imposé de nombreuses sanctions contre le Nicaragua et des personnalités du régime depuis quatre ans, invoquant notamment des violations des droits humains.

Nick Cannon is once again a father as Brittany Bell gave birth to their third child and his tenth child on Friday. The actor joins the ranks of of a much younger NBA YoungBoy who also welcomed his 10th child this week.

The Wild’N Out host shared the ecstatic news on his social media account just about two weeks after he and Lanisha Cole welcomed their baby boy, Onyx Ice Cole Cannon. The baby’s name is Rise Messiah Cannon, following the tradition of unique names by Bell and Cannon, who also share older siblings Golden and Powerful Queen.

This is the third child born this year for Cannon. Along with Onyx Ice, born in early September, he also had another baby boy named Legendary with model Bre Tiesi. Legendary was born in July.

On Instagram, Cannon shared the customary post on Instagram where he welcomed his son but also shared appreciation for the child’s mother.

“Another Blessing!!! As my journey on this planet becomes more and more remarkable and unfathomable, all I can do is thank God and continue to ask the Most High to order my steps,” Cannon captioned a video of the baby’s shower.

“He has given me stewardship and dominion over a family dynamic that to some is unimaginable. But more importantly he has blessed me with loving individuals to guide me with care through this purposeful life,” Cannon. In the video, a woman is loudly praying over the Cannon children as Bell’s friends lay hands on her and Nick in support.

He also said he was indebted and grateful to Bell for being “The rock and foundation of my Fatherhood journey. She has taught me so much about parenting, psychology, spirituality, love and just life in general.”

He added that Bell also shared that she didn’t want anything fancy and was just content with prayers and being with her family. He also shared that Bell also had a difficult pregnancy and delivery as the baby weighed 10 pounds.

“For our third child she told me she didn’t want a baby shower and needed NOTHING!” Cannon wrote. “All she desired was PRAYER from her authentic Loved Ones! I am learning that is the best GIFT!”

Cannon added, “Probably the most difficult labor and delivery I have ever witnessed! 48 hours of excruciating pain and life risking danger to welcome 10 pounds of Love and joy named RISE MESSIAH CANNON.”

Rise Messiah joins half-siblings Monroe and Moroccan, whom he shares with ex-wife Mariah Carey, and twins Zion and Zillion with disc jockey Abby De La Rosa, who is also expecting another baby. He also had a son, Zen, with Alyssa Scott, who passed away last year.

Earlier this year, the artist addressed critics who said he was creating broken homes where he couldn’t successfully parent that many children at once.

“People talk about what’s responsible and what’s not very responsible, I’m only responsible to be myself, I never ever want to be a role model because a role is something you play,” he said in a video shared online.

“I’m a real model, I’m a real person, I got real issues, I got real things that we all working through, and we only gon show up and try to approach it from an optimistic standpoint,” he added.

In a post over the last week, he also asked that people direct their vitriol at him and not the mother of his children. The women have been criticized by many on social media.
