 L’indemnité carburant pour les travailleurs à revenus modestes et les gros rouleurs sera mise en place au 1er octobre et remplacera la ristourne de 18 centimes qui disparaîtra progressivement d’ici la fin de l’année, a annoncé jeudi (7 juillet) le ministre de l’Économie Bruno Le Maire.

“On va le faire très progressivement mais à la fin de l’année il n’y aura plus de remise carburant, et dès le 1er octobre, en tout cas c’est la proposition que nous faisons, nous mettons en place cette indemnité carburants pour les travailleurs”, a déclaré le ministre sur Europe 1.

Bercy a précisé que le projet du gouvernement était de ramener dans un premier temps la remise sur le carburant de 18 à 12 centimes, puis à 6 centimes, avant de l’arrêter complètement.

Plus ciblée, la nouvelle indemnité carburant travailleurs pourra être demandée par simple déclaration sur le site de la direction générale des finances publiques, a précisé le ministre, ajoutant que si “votre domicile et votre lieu de travail sont très éloignés ou que vous êtes par exemple itinérant parce que vous êtes aide-soignante, vous déclarez que vous êtes un gros rouleur et vous aurez une indemnité supplémentaire”, a ajouté Bruno Le Maire.
 

« Couvrir les frais de carburant » supplémentaires 

L’objectif selon le ministre est de couvrir “quasiment l’intégralité de vos frais de carburant” supplémentaires engagés en raison de la hausse des prix du pétrole depuis le déclenchement de la guerre en Ukraine.

Il a encore indiqué que l’actuelle ristourne de 18 centimes par litre de carburant coûtait 800 millions d’euros par mois alors que le nouveau dispositif coûterait seulement 2 milliards d’euros par an.

“C’est bien la preuve que nous ne voulons pas du quoi qu’il en coûte. Nos finances publiques ne nous le permettent pas”, a déclaré Bruno Le Maire. Il a chiffré les mesures de pouvoir d’achat qui doivent être présentées jeudi après-midi en conseil des ministres à “une vingtaine de milliards d’euros” contre 25 milliards évoqués précédemment.

Police need your assistance to locate missing man | Loop Cayman Islands

The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS) said that, on Sunday, June 26, police received a report of a missing person, Mr. Noel Paul Manning, age 53 of Bodden Town, who had last been seen on Friday, June 24.

The RCIPS explained that officers conducted inquiries and Mr. Manning was subsequently reported to have been seen by family members on Monday, June 27, but has not been seen by police. Although there have been additional reports of Mr. Manning being seen around the Breakers, Bodden Town, area, police remain unable to make contact with him directly.

As such, police are requesting public assistance to locate Mr. Manning. He is described as being short, of slim build and brown complexion, with a bald head and white facial hair. He is also known to go by the nicknames “Indian,” “Doc” and “Doctor.” He was last seen wearing a black shirt, blue jeans, and a fedora hat.

Police are also encouraging Mr. Manning to contact the nearest police station. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is encouraged to contact 9-1-1, or Bodden Town CID at 947-2220.

Ending a relationship with someone when children are involved is not easy.

It takes a certain amount of maturity and willingness to make the kids the focus to ensure the transition is easy for them.

But what happens when all the children are not the biological offspring of both partners but they either live with their mother or father?

How do the parents of those children navigate that murky water? Do they deal with their children alone or continue to forge a relationship with the other children?

A recent viral Tik Tok video had many on social media discussing these very questions.

A week ago, a mother of four posted a video fuming because the father of one of her children only brings food for his child.

“What about my other kids?” she yelled when the man walked up to her house with McDonald’s for his son.

She said her son won’t be eating the food in front of her other kids unless he brings it for all and stated he knew she had other children when he got with her.

The man protested, stating that the other kids aren’t his and therefore not his responsibility.

The viral clip had many divided.

Some supported the dad’s stance with one YouTube commentator stating: “Definitely not his responsibility. Anything he does for YOUR kids is out the kindness of his heart but definitely NOT his responsibility. Kudos to dad. Mom is BEYOND toxic…smh.”

Another said: “I’m a female and I’m totally 100 percent with the dad. He wants to feed his own kid. He don’t have to feed three other kids every time he wants to feed his own kid. McDonald’s ain’t cheap and we live in an expensive world! She needs to provide for the others and their baby daddy’s need to come and provide for the others. Simple.”

While some agreed with the dad, some felt that since it is children involved he could have made allowances for them.

One Facebook user said: “He is not obligated to feed them but they are just kids depending on how young they are they wouldn’t realise why they missed out. Sometimes you need to look at it differently you can think I’m not feeding another man’s kids or look at it as it’s not the kid’s fault the situation they are In and make them feel loved anyways. If he is doing it tough and can only afford for himself and his kid then that’s understandable even if he had the money it’s still his decision but I personally couldn’t even get my kids something in front of other kids without thinking of them but I would also rip a burger in half for someone too.”

Another agreed stating that maybe he should have taken his son out to eat.

“It would have been a nice gesture, however, he’s not required to do it. Personally, I would feel less than a human being seeing other children watching my child eat. What he could have done was pick up his child and took him or her to McDonald’s. That would have been a nice quiet time for the two of them to bond void of the others. The brother may have not been able to by micky d’s for 3 other kids. These prices are ridiculous,” she said.

We reached out to Human Behavioural Specialist Arnold Best for his professional take on the subject.

He said the father is not obligated to share with the other children but it depends on the situation.

“If you are going into a relationship with someone with a child it is important to understand you are supporting the child the same way you support the mother, depending on the level of relationship you have. If you are just a child father bringing food for the child, if you are with the woman it is kind but you are not obligated to share with her kid. If they broke up it is okay for him just to bring food for his child. But if they are together and are trying to build a relationship it is kind enough to bring for the other children as well,” he said.

Best stressed that it all comes down to communication between the two parties.

The Government of Saint Lucia (GOSL), through the Carnival Planning & Management
Committee (CPMC), continues to show support for Saint Lucian creatives by obtaining a
copyright licence from the Eastern Caribbean Collective Organisation for Music Rights
(ECCO) Inc.

in preparation for hosting the national carnival events. By doing so, the GOSL is demonstrating continued understanding and appreciation of the value of Intellectual Property Rights.

The GOSL understands the rights associated with music -the main driver of entertainment activity in this and every carnival season.

The CPMC, which is responsible for national carnival events such as the Parade of the Bands, Calypso and Soca Monarch competitions, King and Queen of the Bands and the
Carnival Queen Show, recognises that the use of musical works is beneficial to both the
music creator and the music user.

Music usage is essential to sustaining the livelihoods of both parties, and to benefit, the creators of music must be compensated for the use of their Intellectual Property.

Officer in Charge at ECCO, Mr. Keen Cotter, asserts that “carnival is one of the platforms
providing the largest consumption of local content, and through licensing, benefits the

songwriters of the songs we enjoy at these events and we look forward to greater co-
operation from stakeholders.”

ECCO is a non-profit Collective Management Organisation (CMO) whose primary role
is to administer certain Intellectual Property Rights on behalf of its members in the
Eastern Caribbean and throughout the world.

ECCO collects fees by issuing licences to music users, granting them permission and authority to the restrictive acts as defined in the various Copyright Acts of the region, including public performances at events.

These licence fees are then distributed as royalties to members and members of sister
organisations.

ECCO reminds all music users that a public performance licence is required for the
hosting of events, TV/radio and cable broadcasting, and public performances at
businesses irrespective of the method of transmission or quantity used.

The deceased in this matter has been identified by close family members as Andrew Cumberbatch 32 years of Ellis Gap, Bush Hall Yard Gap, St. Michael.

He was the subject of a missing man report after he left the Ward at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) on Sunday, July 3, 2022.

Lawmen are at the scene of an unnatural death along Browne’s Beach.

The lifeless body of an adult male was discovered at the water’s edge near Pirate’s Cove in Lower Bay Street, Bridgetown.

Officers from the Central Police Station received the report around 5:24 am today.

Police are investigating a stabbing incident which occurred at Greenfield, St Michael today.

Around 7:20 am, officers received a report that a 40-year-old man was stabbed by an unidentified man during an altercation at the said address.

The victim fled the scene and ran to the Central Police Station. He collapsed in the car park area opposite the police station and was then transported to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital by ambulance.

Investigations are ongoing.

The Ministry of Health and Wellness has confirmed the presence of the Monkeypox virus locally.

The individual who has tested positive locally is a male who recently travelled from the United Kingdom.

He presented to a public health facility on July 5 and is now isolated and his close contacts quarantined after contract tracing was done, disclosed Health and Wellness Minister, Dr Christopher Tufton at an emergency press conference on Wednesday.

Monkeypox is a viral zoonotic disease that is spread primarily through animals. While person-to-person spread is uncommon, it may occur through direct contact with an infected individual.

Infection typically results in a number of symptoms, including fever, back pain and muscle pain, and the formation of lesions and skin rashes.

More than 3,400 confirmed Monkeypox cases and one death were reported to the World Health Organisation (WHO) as of late June, with a majority of them from Europe, the health agency said in an update on June 27.

WHO said since June 17, some 1,310 new cases were reported to the agency, with eight new countries reporting Monkeypox cases.

The disease is not yet considered a global health emergency, WHO said last month, although its Director-General, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, said he was deeply concerned about the outbreak.
