Rihanna Pushes Back At Critics Over Calling Her Baby Boy “Fine”

Black Immigrant Daily News

The content originally appeared on: Urban Islandz

Rihanna shared images of her son with the world nine months for the first time on February 15. The baby, whose name has not been revealed, was born in May, and his mother had protected him from the world as she and her partner, A$AP Rocky, mulled mentally dealing with introducing him to the world.

However, the images of the chunky baby have brought hatred and disrespect from some people on social media who have commented on his looks. Some of the rude and disrespectful comments have not escaped the eyes of mama bear Rihanna, who showed she was ready to claw anyone messing with her young.

It appeared that Rihanna reacted to the rude comments earlier in the day after her Vogue article was published, and she ensured that the world knew she didn’t give a hoot about anyone’s opinion of her kid. The singer shared a photo of herself and her son in bed on red Satin sheets. The baby is clearly playing and grabs his own feet while a proud Rihanna gently touches his chunky legs.

“My son so fine! Idc Idc Idc, How crazy both of my babies were in these photos and mommy had no clue,” she captioned the photo.

Many fans and well-wishers including some of her celebrity friends have commented on her posts gushing over her baby boy. One commenter also questioned in the comments, “who calls a baby fine?? [crying emoji].”

Rihanna had a sharp rebuke as she replied – “his mother!”

The singer also chided a woman who tried to school her on the ‘appropriate’ adjective to describe her own child.

“Fine!? More like cute, adorable… he’s not a grown man… lol,” the woman wrote.

Instagram

Rihanna also replied, “you just keep your lil cougar paws away from him and we good,” the mother-to-be wrote.

Rihanna is a savage when it comes to clapping back, and it seems that some people forgot that she was a master troll on Twitter years back. Despite the self-hating trolls, Rihanna’s baby received lots of love from many, the likes of Khadeen Ellis, Viola Davis, DJ Khaled, Facebook, Erykah Badu, and a throng of celebrities and fans.

In her interview with British Vogue, Rihanna says she is dropping new music this year for sure and says it would be insane for her not to release an album in 2023 despite her pregnancy. Her performance at Sunday’s 2023 Super Bowl Halftime Show was the catalyst of her comeback to music, as it reminded us of her star power when it comes to making hit songs and performing them live.

Rihanna has since changed her caption to read, “my perfect baby!”

The track marks the first time that the two young deejays are collaborating, and after listening to it, we can’t help but wonder what took them so long to jump on a track together. The 1 Syde Records-produced single saw Masicka deejaying about being alert and always ready to defend himself.

“??’Pieces’ is a song of triumph. It’s a celebration of what you have worked hard for and motivates the listeners to keep going. You will be victorious,” the artist said. “The song touches on overcoming challenges and obstacles you face along the way, as we navigate through this thing called life. The challenges you’re faced with make you stronger. They mold you into a warrior. The warrior which is needed to be successful.”

The Genasyde deejay is riding a high tide in dancehall right now after signing a major deal with Def Jam Recording. The label confirmed the signing yesterday, saying they’re happy to add Masicka to their roster because he adequately represents the new generation of artists out of Jamaica. Whether you agree with them or not, we can all agree that Masicka is among the top artists of this generation.

The deal was months in the making but only recently came to light after the ink dried.

Safaree Let His Inner Jamaican Out To Defend Rihanna From Howard Stern

Black Immigrant Daily News

Safaree Samuels defends Rihanna from attacks over her Super Bowl gig.

Rihanna has been getting a lot of praise for her Super Bowl Halftime performance on Sunday, but there are also some relentless critics like Howard Stern. Some 118 million people tuned in to watch Rihanna’s first major performance in years, and that’s 5 million more than the number of folks who watched the Super Bowl. This means that more fans actually wanted to see RiRi perform. That’s despite some attacks from some folks like Trump and his supporters.

Almost immediately after her blockbuster performance while pregnant, Howard Stern pounced on it and issued some scathing remarks about the Bajan singer lip-syncing her performance.

“You know, I don’t even know why she bothered showing up,” Stern said on his radio show on Sirius XM. “I could be wrong, but I — in my opinion, 85 percent of that performance was lip-sync.”

Other celebrities like Kodak Black also criticized Rihanna for her performance, but he sounded like he merely tried to be in agreement with the former president who granted him a pardon when he was behind bars.

Love and Hip Hop star Safaree has since come out swinging on Twitter issuing a warning that no Rihanna slander will be tolerated.

“No Rihanna slander will be tolerated by these white outlets… F—K YALL,” Safaree tweeted. “Howard stern this isn’t 1995 no 1 gives a f— about ya opinion. Go get a nose job wit ya fake a-s wanna be afro then go s–k yuh mummma.”

Safaree was sure to hurl the famous Jamaican expletives he often uses on social media. On a brighter note, Rihanna has been getting a lot of support from celebrities and fans since putting on a show on Sunday night. She has since gained over 3 million new followers on Instagram, and her music saw a massive increase in streaming after the Super Bowl, which saw several of her songs returning to the iTunes chart.

Rihanna also saw a 833 percent increase in search volume for her Fenty Beauty brand since promoting it during her live performance. Considering its a free gig for her, it did pay off in terms of marketing.

Grammy-winning artists Burna Boy and Tems will bring Afrobeats vibes to the NBA All-Star Game halftime show later this week as Nigerian artist Rema joins them for a global music-themed night.

The NBA seems to be taking a page out of the book of the NFL after its super successful Half Time Show with guest Rihanna last Sunday and is stepping things up on a global level with an impressive roster of talented artists. The league tapped Burna Boy, Tems, and Rema for the Afrobeats-themed performance to be held on Sunday night (Feb. 19) in Salt Lake City, Utah.

The Nigerian artists have been dominating the music scene with hits like “Last Last” by Burna Boy and “Free Mind” by Tems, who won Melodic Rap Performance this year, and Rema is known for songs like “Calm Down” featuring Selena Gomez.

The Afrobeats Superstars have been growing in popularity even given how recent Afrobeats is in terms of introduction to American fans. The Afrobeats segment is not the only entertainment the NBA is curating, as 10-time Grammy Nominee Post Malone is set to perform a medley to kick the show off.

The Half time show will begin with Jewel performing the National Anthem, and Fast X actor Vin Diesel has been tapped to introduce the newly named NBA All-Stars players.

In the meantime, the event will be celebratory as the NBA is set to commemorate LeBron James’ historical Scoring Record achievement last week.

The NBA Halftime show, much like the NFL, has been focusing on curating an entertainment package that generates interest in the sport. Last year, the headliner was DJ Khaled, who had guests Mary J. Blige, Snoop Dogg, Lil Wayne, Migos, Lil Baby, and Gunna all popping out.

The league’s entertainment investment will also span lead-up events to the big night. On February 17th, the Ruffles Celebrity Game will see performances from Janelle Monae, 21 Savage, Cordae, Ozuna, Kane Brown, Nicky Jam, and others.

Rihanna Says She’s Dropping New Music In 2023, Covers Vogue With Son & A$AP Rocky

Black Immigrant Daily News

The content originally appeared on: Urban Islandz

Rihanna has finally shared her son with the world as she and her partner, A$AP Rocky, posed for British Vogue in a new spread where she dishes on her life as a mother, artist, and partner and her future plans.

The artist shared that she never stopped recording and is hoping that her ninth studio album will be released this year.

While talking about music, the artist revealed that she never stopped recording, and she would often re-listen to an unreleased song as she tried to feel the music. She doesn’t always like the music but admitted [it’s] almost like trying to dress like you used to dress. It’s like, ‘Ew, no. I would never wear those again.”

“Your taste changes, your vibe changes,” she added.

When asked the million-dollar question whether fans will get the long-anticipated album dubbed ‘R9’, Rihanna says it could be this year, but she doesn’t make any promises, although. “I want it to be this year,” she says.

“Like, honestly, it’d be ridiculous if it’s not this year. But I just want to have fun. I just want to make music and make videos.”

The Vogue writer points out that at the time Rihanna did the interview, there was no sign of a new pregnancy, and the artist did not seem aware that she would be expecting so soon again.

Rihanna debuted her very visible baby bump during Super Bowl LVII, five weeks after she did the Vogue interview.

The artist later confirmed that she was pregnant with her and Rocky’s second child.

Now that that event has cropped up, it’s unclear if Rihanna’s priorities have changed and if she can finish the album. In her Vogue interview, Rihanna, however, shares that she misses the music scene especially creating visual content.

“I need the right background music with the visuals. I can’t just go shoot a video to me talking,” she said.

In the meantime, Rihanna also dished on her first few days being a mother noting that the event was life-changing for her and her mindset.

“It’s this knowing that you can do anything,” she explains, “even things that seem the craziest, like, ‘I’m going to say yes to the Super Bowl in the middle of postpartum?’” “What the heck am I thinking? But you’re geeked on a challenge like that because you know what your body just did. You feel this sense of ‘Nothing is impossible.’” She said.

While unaware she was pregnant again, Rihanna also shared that she wanted to have more children, although she did gawk at her own statement in 2020 that she wanted three or four children.

“Listen, I’m down for whatever. My wish would be I would like to have more kids but whatever God wants for me, I’m here. I’m open,” she says. “Girl, boy. Whatever,” the artist said.

Basketball legend LeBron James made history after becoming the NBA’s all-time scoring leader when he broke the standing record held by Kareem-Abdul Jabbar over the past three decades.

Lebron James earned the title while his team played against the Oklahoma City Thunder at the Los Angeles Lakers’ home Crypto.com Arena. James was expected to surpass Jabbar’s career total of 38,387 points, and after doing so, the basketball legend ceremonially handed over the basketball to his successor in a mid-court ceremony.

The historical milestone was noticed by many in the sporting and entertainment world as they gave the basketball player his props. LeBron’s epic performance on Tuesday night came after weeks of anticipation, and when he scored his 36th point, the stadium and social media erupted with congratulatory messages from all factions of fans.

Drake appeared to be speaking from LeBron’s former hometown as he said, “To honor that I had to come back to the place that it all started… Every journey has its beginning.” However, his usual gimmick at play, a green screen collapses behind Drake, showing that he was actually in a nightclub in Miami celebrating.

Sixteen-time Grammy winner Kendrick Kamar also shared praise for LeBron’s achievement.

“From the time you went to the league when you had the doubters and the naysayers and people that think you wouldn’t take it this far you proved ’em wrong, dawg,” Lamar said.

Iggy Azalea has reacted to reports that the father of her son, rapper Playboi Carti has been arrested for allegedly attacking his pregnant girlfriend.

News of the rapper’s arrest surfaced early on Tuesday morning, with reports that he was arrested for a domestic violence-related incident that took place two months ago. The publication revealed that the rapper allegedly choked his pregnant girlfriend. He was arrested and booked for felony aggravated assault and obstruction charges after he prevented the woman from calling the police.

Iggy Azalea reacted to the reports and did not hold herself back as she accused the rapper of having a history of being violent towards women. Azalea and Playboi Carti share a son, Onyx Kelly, and she has never shied away from sharing about her problems with the rapper.

The Australian rapper confirmed that the rapper also put his hands on her. “Been there. Done that. Warned you,” she wrote on Twitter.

Iggy Azalea, who previously accused Carti of breaking up with her and abandoning her during her pregnancy and later being a “deadbeat” dad, said the rapper was abusive.

“Imagine having a pregnant girlfriend and pretending they don’t exist until it comes out you like to abuse them too,” she continued,

“[And] rarely visiting your actual son unless is because you’re running from whatever problems ya got going on in Atlanta & the press with your serial abuse of a woman. Anyway. I’m having an actually amazing day! karmas real! Treat the people you love well! Happy Valentine’s Day,” the Australian rapper said.

Details of the arrest have been few, but so far, news reports claim that the assault took place on December 20 and that the incident stemmed from an argument over the paternity of the child. His girlfriend was just 20 weeks pregnant at the time.

Reports are that there was a physical altercation, and Carti choked her until she couldn’t breathe and shoed into some nearby bushes.

A witness helped the woman, who then ran for help.

There is also another report which claims that the irate rapper chased after the woman and attacked her again. He reportedly dragged her out of her car and covered her mouth so she wouldn’t call the police. The woman was able to use her phone’s S.O.S emergency help feature to call the cops.

The woman was found by police with bruises to her chest, back, and neck. An attorney for Playboi Carti said he was innocent of the charges.

Beenie Man Chided Bounty Killer and Mr. Vegas For Warring In Golden Years

Black Immigrant Daily News

The content originally appeared on: Urban Islandz

Beenie Man is adding his two cents to the ongoing dancehall war between Mr. Vegas and Bounty Killer.

The two artists have been at each other’s throats over the past few weeks, and their feud, which involves lyrical diss tracks, also got personal, with each artist making grave accusations at the other.

Mr. Vegas at first called Bounty Killer a derogatory name and claimed that the artist fathered a child with a minor when she was 15 years old and he was much older. Bounty Killer also shared that a woman alleges that she was raped by Mr. Vegas when she was only 13 years old.

The feud has been polarizing, with some like Dexta Daps, taking Bounty Killer’s side and running the risk of being set upon by Mr. Vegas. Beenie Man, however, says he is disappointed in the artists as they are older and ought to set better examples.

“Memba me ah di King of the Dancehall and memba mi fight dancehall artists to be together and that’s why mi nuh like this war with Vegas and Bounty Killer,” Beenie Man said on the Let’s Be Honest podcast.

“It nuh make nuh sense. Vegas ah forty (years old) and Bounty Killer ah 50 (years old). Weh you a go with that,” the artist added.

Beenie Man went on to name some of the greatest dancehall hits coming from both artists as he broke out into Vegas’ “Heads High.’

“Weh yuh do?” Beenie Man asked Mr. Vegas.

Beenie Man said he isn’t blameless because he keeps up “foolishness,” but it’s always for a purpose.

The dancehall veteran also shared that when Vybz Kartel and Mavado were beefing during the infamous Gully/Gaza feud, he had intervened and advised Kartel to meet with the “Caribbean Girls” artist to show unity so that the violence their fans were unleashing would stop.

Beenie Man also revealed that the artists met up in Tivoli, but Kartel later came on TV and took credit for the idea.

Beenie also cautioned Vegas, noting that Bounty Killer was not one to mess with.

“The people dem come out for Bounty cause yuh a spider,” he said as he trailed off singing one of Bounty’s famous clash songs.

He also shared that he had a role to play in urging Kartel to extend the olive branch and quash his feud with Mavado.

“When yuh go down a Tivoli try make sure say you make Mavado call you out. Yuh nave fi fall him out because ah you ah di man at this point. So just make them know say ‘yow eh bwoy’ cause you have 100 man weh bad and yuh bad too, so anuh like him can tell you say him nah call you out,” Beenie Man said.

In the meantime, Beenie Man also shared his opinion on what the artists nowadays call “clash,” noting that it was inferior to the true form of a ‘clash’ is in dancehall culture.

“Juggling mash up because the artist dem nah go pan the same riddim weh the next artist deh pon, that never mek sense. The man dem mash up dancehall…the man dem deh online wid war,” Beenie Man joked. “Yuh can’t go no stage go see dem war, yuh a eediat?”

Beenie Man also couldn’t hold himself back as he opinionated that you can’t keep Sting in the countryside, which is how the clash culture is characterized – being in Kingston, where the fans’ energy is more receptive to lyrical clashes.

“Soft crowd don’t know nothing about war…mi have hope fi Sting but a just the venue, the wrong venue,” Beenie Man said.

In the meantime, Beenie Man offered advice for Sting, noting that the event should be held for $1,000 at the Stadium parking lot to be open to people who have a genuine love for clash culture so they can ‘fawud’ and grow Sting’s profile.

Blueface wasn’t too pleased that Chrisean Rock posed for some lens time with the Biggest Bawse, Rick Ross, at the Super Bowl on Sunday.

Chrisean Rock apparently left Blueface home as she and the Zeus team, along with Rubi Rose, headed to the Super Bowl on Sunday, where Rihanna performed, and a throng of celebrities came out to see the Pop Princess return to the stage. Rock posed for several photos at the event, and it seems that Blueface was not too pleased, especially as he called her out over the Rubi Rose/ DDG drama that went down on Sunday.

Chrisean Rock, who is a celebrity in her own right, was spotted on Rick Ross’ Instagram Stories, but while the photo appeared innocent, Blueface appeared upset and went off on a rant about the qualities he wanted in a woman.

On Twitter, Rock reveled at the attention she received from fans at the Super Bowl.
