The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS) reported that, on Friday, August 12, officers received a report of a serious assault that had occurred on Thursday, August 11.
According to the RCIPS, it was reported that a man was at an address on Shedden Road, near Eastern Avenue, when he was approached by another man known to him. The man allegedly struck him with a machete, causing injuries to his arm.
The injured man was transported to the Cayman Islands Hospital by private vehicle where he was treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries, and subsequently discharged.
The suspect responsible allegedly fled the scene whilst officers were making follow-up enquiries and is still being sought.
The matter is currently under investigation.

In an effort to strengthen Saint Lucia’s food security and improve nutrition within the country, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food Security and Rural Development is spearheading several food festivals aimed at encouraging local production and the consumption of healthy food.
One of the activities that forms part of the initiative is the 2022 Sea Moss Fiesta, scheduled for Oct. 16 at the Fond d’Or National Park. The activity is open to all interested parties who wish to showcase their creativity and market sea moss products to the public.
Communications Officer, Mr. Philip Sydney of the Ministry of Agriculture provided details on the activity.

“You will be surprised to see the various derivatives from sea moss,” he said. “The school children are going to be there, and there will be a competition among the schools, if all goes well. There will also be a sea moss recipe book because we want to showcase the participants’ signature products, and hopefully that book will be available on the day.”
The Sea Moss Fiesta is the fourth activity of its kind to be recently hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture. It was preceded by the Mango Festival, the Banana Festival and the Breadfruit and Breadnut Festival.

La Policía de Puerto Rico encontró el cuerpo de un hombre muerto en el interior de un carrito de compras cerca de una cancha ubicada en la calle Ramón B. López, en Río Piedras.
Según las autoridades, el mismo fue encontrado mientras agentes realizaban una ronda preventiva.
Al momento, el occiso no ha sido identificado y se desconoce el móvil de estos hechos.
El personal adscrito a la división de Homicidios de San Juan, en unión al fiscal de turno iniciaron la investigación.

El secretario general de la Asociación de Maestros de Puerto Rico (AMPR), Ángel Javier Pérez, aseguró en RADIO ISLA que un “poquito más de 300” escuelas aún no están listas para iniciar el semestre.
“Nosotros entendemos que son un poquito más de 300 (de estas instituciones educativas que no están listas) según lo que estamos observando y visitando presencialmente a cada una de las escuelas”, expuso Pérez.Según Ángel Javier Pérez, “el cuerpo completo de coordinadores y representantes sindicales están visitando escuela por escuela”.
Además, Ángel Javier Pérez informó que, al momento, hay 431 plazas de maestros vacantes. Esto se une a la falta de directores escolares en las escuelas públicas del país.

Vincentians who applied for funding under the Promoting Youth Micro Enterprises or PRYME Program are expected to receive payment this year
Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Camillo Gonsalves says the Government is hoping to make three additional payments from October to December.
He says the program was delayed, as some of the funds had to be re-allocated to other sectors.
