PM Mottley admits Barbados should be concerned about pound devaluation Loop Barbados

With the value of the British pound falling to historic lows against the US dollar these days, Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley says that this downward trend should spur Barbados to pivot and tweak the tourism product to attract new interests.

Speaking at today’s wrap-up of the International Monetary Fund visit press conference at Ilaro Court, she said that one of “our largest trading partners [Great Britain] is facing devaluation on a fairly rapid basis, so much so that you [the media] have asked me what I believe are the consequences for the Barbados economy given that the British account for 40 per cent of our tourism sector, and it is a matter for which we should have concern.”

She said we have to keep an eye on the ball and play strategic shots right now “including boosting our presence in other markets if necessary if we see a diminution in spending”.

However, PM Mottley hinted that the current impact may not be the most worrisome yet because, according to her, “We do have perhaps… a slightly different demographic coming here” as it relates to the type of visitors we get from that source market.

But she still asserted, “there is no doubt that everybody will be hurting and therefore we have to be prepared to open up and boost other markets to potentially offset what could happen there.”

PM Mottley said that at the groundbreaking for Hotel Indigo yesterday she told the attendees, “…That is an analogy for really and truly where we are, that we’ve taken a site that had two of Barbados’ certainly one of Barbados’ oldest hotels in Barbados south coast – Ocean View, and one of the other more mature hotels – Caribbee, and that that site is now being repurposed to serve a modern Barbados tourism sector.”

And she stressed that Bajans still must play their part in keeping our economy alive because COVID should have taught us that we cannot rely on foreigners coming to our shores and spending to drive our economic growth solely.

“We must not have amnesia in this environment and we must not believe the extent to which we have been able to insulate people means that all is well in the rest of the world. It is not. And I ask us to recall that what has brought us thus safely thus far is us operating as a single nation, with a social partnership anchored as the basis upon which many of the decisions we have taken.”

Vigilance jaune forte pluies – DR

Black Immigrant Daily News

The content originally appeared on: Guadeloupe FranceAntilles

Macka Diamond considers deleting videos from OnlyFans Loop Jamaica

Entertainer Macka Diamond is contemplating deleting the videos from her OnlyFans account, as yet another of her clips has surfaced outside of the subscription-based platform.

The dancehall artiste, who is seen partially exposed in the video, is convinced the videos are being “leaked” to “slow down” her career.

“This video is almost two years old. I think someone is trying to leak these videos strategically to slow down my career,” the ‘Dye Dye’ artiste said on Wednesday.

“I am going to go on my OnlyFans account and delete off all the videos. I don’t know who is leaking these videos,” a seemingly upset Macka Diamond said.

In June, racy videos from the 51-year-old, which were allegedly leaked from her OnlyFans page, began making the rounds on WhatsApp, but she largely remained mum on the issue.

Macka Diamond, whose real name is Charmaine Munroe, reportedly joined OnlyFans in 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic to earn, since very little was happening in the etertainment industry at the time.

Now with another video surfacing, the veteran artiste wants to know why someone would do this to her.

“Why you’re doing this? Oonu don’t want me get a husband or a man for mi self?” Macka Diamond lamented.

Entertainer Trophy Sniper, who is a selector, had this to say on the video: “All mi know is that Macka look good fi her age, so mi just fling up mi song with her video on mi IG page. The people dem ah work with it.”

Nigerian Star Yemi Alade Eyes More Collabs After Linking With Spice

Black Immigrant Daily News

Who wouldn’t be excited at having a chance to collaborate with the Queen of Dancehall, Spice? One star in the afrobeats genre, Nigerian recording artist Yemi Alade, is all steamed up with the recent release of her latest single, “Bubble It,” which features Spice.

This is not her first set of work with Jamaican artists, but of course, this one is special to her since it represents two strong females coming together to strengthen the bridge that is being formed between Afrobeats and dancehall artists.

Alade has always loved dancehall and told The STAR that she realized that she and Spice were becoming good friends online, and they both began publicly showing appreciation for each other’s work.

She added that when they met face-to-face for the first time, it was in Atlanta as they were both just going about their business. That was in November 2021, and she said since then, she felt that they needed to do something together musically.

The “Oh My Gosh” singer added that in her heart, she knew they needed to take that friendship and admiration and put it into a song. With that thought at the back of her mind, when the opportunity came up, she grabbed it.

She explained that the chance presented itself when she was recording music with her producer in Ghana, and she heard a track and immediately thought of Spice. After recording her verse and chorus, she sent it to her.

The video for the track was recorded in Atlanta. It has been doing well on YouTube and has already crossed 3.7 million views. It has also received positive feedback from fans who commented on the video.

“1 million views in one day! This a certified hit! A collab we didn’t know we needed but we got it and we’re happy! ???? Spice & Yemi Alade killed this!” this fan said while another chimed in, “Big ups to mother Africa and Jamaica …. Mi appreciate dis … Always a party when Africa and Jamaica come together.”

Alade explained that the collab had great chemistry between the two artists because they both recognized that they are queens. She added that being a queen doesn’t require a crown, but it starts from the inside.

“Speaking for myself, from the beginning of my career, if anyone remembers the title of my first album was King of Queens. I had already given myself the title before the public did,” she continued.

The “True Love” artist added that for an artiste to be called a queen or a king in her or his career, it’s up to the individual and then their fans. To this end, she believes that a queen is someone who is loved and respected and can be seen as a role model.

“I love and respect my fellow female artistes whether dancehall, R&B, Afrobeats and soca…I do like Shenseea but we haven’t met as yet, and Patrice Roberts [soca star]. I want to connect with more of our global music queens and for people to continue supporting the music,” she added.

PnB Rock Case: Man Implicated In Murder Breaks His Silence

Black Immigrant Daily News

The content originally appeared on: Urban Islandz

Following the news that a suspect has been named and one arrested in PnB Rock’s murder by the Los Angeles Police Department, another man is seeking to clear his name and make sure everyone knows that he had nothing to do with the rapper’s death.

A man named Freddie Lee Trone has been named as a person of interest in the murder of the Philadelphia native. Sadly, PnB Rock was gunned down at Roscoe’s House of Chicken and Waffles in South Los Angeles on September 12. Police have since arrested a 17-year-old man believed to be the triggerman and also the son of Freddie Lee Trone.

The man who has come forward to clear his name is a videographer by the name Emmanuel Danquah who works in Minneapolis. He also does photography and goes by the pseudonym South Side Chief. Apparently, he has been linked to the crime by various unqualified online and social media investigators who believe that he may have had the rapper killed because of an argument they had on Instagram Live in 2021 over a stolen t-shirt design.

Many of the unqualified PIs have also edited clips and have claimed erroneously that the two had beef shortly before the “Middle Child” rapper was killed.

Danquah sought to clear the air during a recent interview with the Drea O Show. He stated that he had nothing to do with the murder of PnB Rock. He also reiterated that he was nowhere near the area and that he did not make some type of OG phone call hit.

Added to that, he said he and the late rapper were on pretty good terms before the shooting and were even planning a charity boxing match together in an effort to raise funds to help rebuild Minneapolis following the destruction caused during the 2020 George Floyd protests.

He said the last time they spoke, the two were good with each other and described PnB as a real one. Danquah went on to say that the “Selfish” rapper was even going to give him a chance that would change both of their lives through the fight that they were promoting. He remains grateful to him for that, he added.

When the accusations began to fly, he said that he felt a plethora of different emotions, especially since the internet put the label of a murderer on him. He added it was difficult to watch the accusers use video out of context and just run with it.

“I just want people to know that they can’t always believe what they see on the internet. If you see the video, I’m like 200 pounds heavier and they tried to make it seem like that was the same day [as Rock’s murder],” he continued.

According to Danquah, the police have not even contacted him, and if they do, he has nothing to hide. However, he did express some hesitancy with having to speak with the authorities for fear of how he would be handled as a black man.

The argument in question seems very unlikely to result in murder. The two men had a spat after the rapper was accused of stealing his t-shirt design featuring a photo of the uprising in Minneapolis after George Floyd’s death.

Things did get heated but the most the threats escalated to was Danquah threatening to snatch PnB Rock’s chain. In subsequent interviews, Danquah even admitted to embellishing the argument to get some more clout on the internet.
