The police are reporting that Rushawn ‘Chizzie’ Patterson — the man identified as a person of interest in the ongoing investigation into the killing of social media influencer Aneka ‘Slickianna’ Townsend — intends to report to them on Thursday.

The announcement was made by Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the crime and security portfolio, Fitz Bailey, at Tuesday’s police media briefing.

Bailey described the investigations as being at a “delicate” stage but confirmed that a lawyer has reached out to him.

“… What I will say to the public is that we are actively pursuing the matter.

“In fact, I can say this publicly that an attorney reached out to me and indicated that he will take him (Patterson) in on Thursday of this week,” the deputy commissioner advised.

Earlier at the press briefing, Police Commissioner, Major General Antony Anderson said there was no information to suggest that Patterson has left the country.

The police reported that the body of 35-year-old Townsend was fished from the sea in Reading, St James on October 21.

Investigators said her body was found in a semi-nude state with what appeared to be a wound to the head.

The woman was positively identified as the social media influencer by a relative a day after the body was found.

At the same time, the police named Patterson, a Hanover resident, as a person of interest in their probe into the death of the woman.

Despite several appeals from the cops for him to report to them, Patterson, who is from the Prosper section of the parish, has failed to show.

Several checks made by Loop News revealed that Patterson had previously been charged with offences, including murder, in 2013.

The case was reportedly dismissed after the Crown could not locate the witness.

Jah Cure Remains Behind Bars In Europe, Gets January 2023 Court Date

Black Immigrant Daily News

Reggae crooner Jah Cure was ordered to remain in custody as he awaits his appeal hearing. The artist was sentenced to six years in prison for the attempted manslaughter of a Dutch promoter last year.

He appeared before a judge for a pre-court appeal hearing but was ordered remanded to jail until January 24, 2023. Jah Cure’s pro forma hearing is a part of Dutch court procedure ahead of court appeal hearings, the Jamaica Observer reported on Tuesday.

The Netherlands Public Prosecution Office said that the hearing was routine and nothing new or different as it is often conducted to extend the court’s right to hold a suspect while he awaits his hearing. The “pro forma” hearing is conducted while Cure awaits a date for his court appeal hearing.

The artist is appealing his sentence on several grounds, including that the sentence is excessive and that the judge failed to take into consideration the fact that his claim of self-defense was not allegedly properly considered.

Jah Cure was sentenced in March 2022 for attempted manslaughter of the promoter, whom he claimed did not pay him and even threatened him with violence over the unpaid money. The reggae crooner was brought to the country to perform at a Reggae concert at the end of summer last year while he was on his European tour.

Jah Cure was initially charged with attempted murder and attempted manslaughter. He was acquitted of the first charge during his trial. However, Dutch prosecutors have also appealed the case and want Cure found guilty of attempted murder.

A date for the court appeal hearing has not been decided as yet. In the meantime, Cure, who turned 44 years old in prison, is well known for hit songs like “True Reflection (Prison Walls),” which he recorded after he returned from jail. The artist was serving a 15-year prison sentence for which he was convicted in 1999, but he was later released on a shortened sentence in 2007 due to good behavior.

Jah Cure has one daughter.

Video Shows Quavo Arguing With Another Man Before Takeoff Shooting

Black Immigrant Daily News

New video that captures the moments before Takeoff was killed on Monday night in Houston, Texas, has surfaced online giving fans a glimpse of what led to the shooting death of the artist.

The Atlanta rapper was shot and killed around 2:35 a.m. while out with his uncle Quavo while they joined a group of persons playing a dice game in what looked like a parking lot of the Billiards Bowling Alley.

The new video shared by TMZ gives a clue as to what led to Takeoff being shot. The video appeared to be taken by someone who was at the venue where the incident took place.

In the footage, Quavo, who is wearing an orange shirt, is seen arguing with another man. In the video, a man is heard telling Quavo he didn’t play like that. Another person says that they were being disrespected. Within seconds, persons are seen running as several gunshots ring out.

Takeoff, Popcaan, and Quavo in Jamaica

In the meantime, Quavo has not spoken since the incident. A video shared online showed the tragic aftermath with Takeoff, just 28 years old, lying as he bled out in a pool of blood on the parking lot floor while Quavo screamed in agony and disbelief.

The two rappers grew up together and have often spoken about being raised together and doing everything together, given their age is almost the same, as well as older cousin Offset. The trio formed the multi-platinum-selling group, Migos.

Offset has also not shared his thoughts or addressed the death of Takeoff, which has rocked the hip-hop community because of how quiet and soft-spoken the rapper is.

The police have not confirmed any arrest, nor has it confirmed what really happened. However, multiple accounts online from people who claimed to be present when the shooting occurred say that Quavo created the dangerous situation because he was arguing and tried to fight a man before things escalated.

Takeoff was reportedly shot by a member of his own entourage who allegedly began shooting wildly before someone else reportedly opened fire, hitting Takeoff in the head.

Takeoff’s family has not reacted to the rapper’s death.

“L’IFATCA a demand?

It would appear that plenty people have ‘trang for Observer’

Black Immigrant Daily News

Ward

Mr Ward I wish you well.

I wish though that the same way you used the airwaves this morning, you also would have used it to stand up and defend the company which you worked for, every time you interviewed the PM and his colleagues- especially after Observer was called a threat to the country in parliament. This did not happen.

The company has to draw the line and stand for something. They too cannot continue to allow someone to use their media house and still disrespect them. What would it say about the company if they did nothing?

When it was said in parliament that Observer is a threat to the nation, what did you as the host of the morning show say to the PM every time you interviewed or entertained him on the radio? Did you use the same airwaves the way you did today, to condemn the PM, for such harmful words and in parliament at that? (Me, personally I would not want to interview anyone who made those statements about an organisation that employs me unless an apology came publicly). Those are strong words n not to be taken lightly.

When the PM, as leader of this nation puts Observer’s financial business which is a private owned company n also your then employer on the radio, n in print media did you speak out about it? The PM didn’t do the same to the MANY companies that may owe landlords, APUA etc. He singled out Observer. Did you use the same airwaves the way you did today to express your disappointment or anger at the PM?

The government went on their witch hunt to tarnish and destroy your managing director, put him in handcuffs, in a cell, told the country he stole from a statutory board, did all manner of evil to destroy him.

When all charges were dismissed, did you use the same airwaves the way you did today, to speak out against the injustice done to your employer and others.

I wish too that you had used the same airwaves to ask the PM to be fair in equitable distribution of government ads. Not just for Observer your then employer, to meet their expenses and payroll for you and your colleagues, but most importantly for ALL the media houses.

It would appear that plenty people have “trang for Observer”, but they are OK with the present administration doing and saying anything they want.

Sometimes I wonder if media practitioners take their role seriously or if it is just about creating a name for themselves, because you seldom see them standing up for injustice or correcting the lies n misinformation. For many of you media personalities it’s all about you.

TT FIRE SERVICE Chief Fire Officer Arnold Bristo, on Tuesday, called for businesses and TT society as a whole to pay more attention to occupational health and safety, while speaking at the opening ceremony at of the American Chamber of Commerce (Amcham)’s two-day HSSE conference held at the HYATT Regency in Port of Spain.

“I believe that it is time that we as a society pay more attention to health and safety because it will reduce the risk of exposure to the losses that we see when companies go up, as well as the loss of employment and how it affects the economy,” Bristo said.

“Even in our homes, we need to pay attention to how we do things and how we store things. Always make sure that you have a proper plan of escape in the event that you have to do it. Sometimes you don’t know how fate would have it that you would need to do so and you must be able at all times to do so safely.”

Bristo, on behalf of the TT Fire Service accepted a donation of two Huawei Ideahub screens, which would be used to support the implementation of its national incident command system. The command system is designed to help fire-fighters through the projection of real-time high-quality video.

Phoenix Park Gas Processors Ltd President Dominic Rampersad who presented the donation said it was not just a donation from the gas processing company, but from the people of TT. He said that PPGPL has provided support to the Ministry of Health in its cancer treatment initiatives and the defence services in its response to natural disasters.

“As we re-imagine our world, we have to re-imagine, not just our companies but the role that our companies play in providing a service to our communities.”
