Takeoff’s Murder Suspect Patrick Xavier Clark Arrested And Charged

Black Immigrant Daily News

Takeoff’s family is one step close to getting justice as Houston Police announced a major breakthrough in the case.

Houston Police Department Chief Troy Finner revealed in a press conference on Friday that they arrested Patrick Xavier Clark, 33, and charged him with murder, CNN reported. As previously reported, Cameron Joshua, 22, was also arrested and charged with a crime unrelated to Takeoff’s murder. Joshua, also known as Lil Cam, is facing charges of unlawful carrying of a weapon. He was rumored to be a suspect in the killing of the Migos rapper, but his lawyer denied the claims saying he was not the one who fired the fatal shot.

Takeoff was killed on November 1 in Houston, Texas, after what was initially reported as a shooting over a dice game. Police have not made an arrest as yet or named a suspect, but a week ago, several blogs online claimed that Lil Cam was Takeoff’s alleged killer as they referenced his recent charges for illegal possession of weapons.

Lil Cam, whose real name is Cameron Joshua, was slapped with a charge of felony unlawful carry of a weapon on November 22. According to prosecutors at his recent court hearing, the 16-year-old rapper was spotted on surveillance footage outside of the bowling alley brandishing a gun when the shooting occurred.

Lil Cam is said to be among the group of people that were hanging with J. Prince Jr.’s Mob Ties Records crew that was at the crime scene the night Takeoff was killed.

Despite the prosecution’s claim, the D.A.’s office has not said whether they had plans to charge Lil Cam for the shooting.

Patrick Xavier Clark mugshot

“We believe Cameron Joshua has been appropriately charged in this case,” lead prosecutor Matt Gilliam said after a court hearing this week. “And we’re continuing our investigation into the death of TakeOff.”

In the meantime, Christopher Downey, the lawyer representing Lil Cam, said his client was not responsible for Takeoff’s death as he addressed the reports online.

“I haven’t seen anything to suggest that Cameron Joshua had anything to do with the shooting, that he discharged a firearm that caused [TakeOff’s] death or was he even involved,” Downey said. “My understanding is there was some type of skirmish,” he added.

The lawyer added that his client is alleged to have had a gun when the shooting took place and a witness statement said he had been identified as having a firearm with allegations claiming that he was seen re-racking his weapon.

His lawyer confirmed that he was at the event where Takeoff was shot, but the lawyer highlighted that legally there is a difference between carrying a gun and shooting as he stressed his client’s innocence.

In the meantime, Lil Cam was on bond for a previous matter of possessing a fake ID. His bond was revoked, and he remains in custody until a decision is made about his freedom at a bond hearing next week.

The lawyer also hinted that his client may “decide to” later give information about the actual shooter, but he did not go further to explain his statement.

“I’ve talked to him. He wants bond. He wants to get out. He wants to clear his name. We will discuss [who the shooter is] with the DA.s office if he decides to,” the lawyer told reporters when asked if he knew who shot Takeoff.

In the meantime, Houston Police Chief Troy Finner last month promised that said he had promised Takeoff’s family to ensure that the family gets justice for the senseless killing.

He also responded to critics who lamented the slow progress of the investigation, saying he does not want to send family members for a roller coaster ride and then potentially have to clear up inaccurate information.

Shenseea Says ‘Bob Marley Bigger Than Michael Jackson’ Igniting Debate

Black Immigrant Daily News

Shenseea ignited a heated debate after tweeting “Bob Marley is bigger than Michael Jackson.”

The dancehall singjay knows how to stir the pot and get her fans going, and she’s done it again with the controversial comparison of who is the bigger artist in the form of Bob Marley or Michael Jackson. Shenseea made the statement on Twitter on Thursday, which has now gone viral. The statement saw many Americans opposing the view, while some Jamaicans agreed with her.

Bob Marley is a legendary reggae artist who is well-known for his music of peace and love and who continues to influence generations of people when it comes to Rastafarianism and reggae music. The artist’s music was made in an era where he challenged the status quo, including the Apartheid conditions in South Africa, and his music continues to be regarded in the same light as the Marley legacy continued by his children ensures that the artist’s music lives on.

On the contrary, Michael Jackson often referred to as the ‘King of Pop,’ is also a very popular artist known around the world for his infectious music and dance. The artist continues to influence the younger generation who push his music and style in the likes of Chris Brown and others, and this year, his third and biggest studio album, Thriller, turns 40 years old, something fans have been raving about in memory of the certified hitmaker.

Shenseea’s statement elicited great debate as many of her fans made points to either disagree or agree with her.

Shenseea / Twitter

“Bob Marley’s status is ‘Legendary.’ Michael Jackson is the ‘King of Pop.’ 100 years from now people will still be listening to Bob’s music because their lyrics will always be relevant. Can’t say the same about MJ. It’s 40 years since Bob’s passing and he’s still current all over,” one fan wrote.

“Michael jackson’s music will definitely be alive 100 years from now as well because there are people who still listen to him. his music is timeless,” another fan offered to counteract another fan.

It seems that some fans also had jokes’ with one fan leveling the argument by posting a screenshot that revealed that both of the artists were 5 feet 7 inches tall each, so none was “bigger” than the other.

“Influence is Measured in Different Ways. There’s a Hair Style Called ‘Bob Marley,’ There’s No Such Hair Style as ‘Michael Jackson’ There’s a Day Called ‘Marley Night,’ No Such Day as ‘Jackson Night’ I Can Also Tell You That Marley’s Best Track is More Popular Than MJ Best Track,” another fan said.

Bob Marley / 56 Hope Rd

“She said bigger. Not more famous. Bob had two public attempts on his life simply because his influence. MJ never had to weather that storm. Nobody was starting riots with the police because of MJ. Nobody was throwing teargas at MJ concerts bcuz his music was affecting the govt,” another fan wrote.

It seems that many of Shenseea’s fans agreed with her. The dancehall star has not commented on the topic since sending out the tweet late Thursday evening, but some supporters of Michael Jackson think she might be a bit biased towards Bob Marley since they are both Jamaicans.

Both MJ and Bob are two of the most impactful musicians in history, and despite their early deaths, both are still having a lasting impact on the world through their music. But one may argue that Bob Marley’s universal message of peace, love, and unity resonates with people on every continent of the world. The reggae legend’s music of uplifting was also a refuge for a lot of people during the global pandemic, as evident in the massive increase in streaming of songs like “One Love” and “Redemption Song.”

Michael Jackson might’ve sold more records than Bob Marley, but the Jamaican legend vastly outshines the King of Pop in impact and influence.

Perhaps a Bob Marley and Michael Jackson Verzuz can settle the debate.

‘Gold Digger’ Trends After Kanye West $200K Kim Kardashian Divorce

Black Immigrant Daily News

Kanye West and Kim Kardashian have official divorce and Ye’s classic single “Gold Digger” is trending after court docs reveal his massive child support payment.

KimYe’s divorce has been settled by a Los Angeles court. On Tuesday, it was reported that Kanye West and Kim Kardashian would share joint custody of their four children, North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm, while Kanye has been ordered to pay Kim $200,000 a month in child support.

The divorce petition was filed by Kim Kardashian early last year and has been in court for almost all of 2021 and 11 months in 2022. The proceedings were wrought with drama by Kanye, who changed almost a dozen lawyers and insisted that he didn’t agree with the divorce and wanted his family back while also publicly bashing his ex-wife over their children.

According to TMZ, the divorce was settled with both parents having “equal access” to the children, but Kim is expected to have primary care and custody of the children. Their expenses will also be jointly borne by Kim, a billionaire, and Kanye, a former billionaire with a sizable wealth. However, as for a dollar figure of what Kanye’s 50% share looks like- it’s $200,000 a month for the four kids and is due on the first day of each month and has to be sent directly to Kim’s account.

According to TMZ, the rapper is additionally responsible for 50% of the educational expenses, including tuition and security expenses.

Kanye West & Kim Kardashian

The court also ruled that any future dispute between the parents must first go to mediation. The mandatory mediation order notes that if a party fails to join the mediation, the other party will, by default, win over the other.

The court also notably upheld a prenuptial agreement that existed between the two. This means that the prenup agreement is valid and enforceable despite past claims by Kanye that it was not.

As for their property, this is divided according to the prenup agreement. As part of the settlement, Kanye agreed to part with the $4.5 million home he bought across from Kim’s estate in exchange for keeping the couple’s $60 million Malibu beach property as well as the two ranches in Wyoming, another property- 300-acre parcel of land in Calabasas, a home in Belgium as well as his childhood home in Chicago.

As for Kim, she will get to keep the home they have in Idaho and the $60 million Hidden Hills home she currently resides in with the kids.

Back in October, Kim Kardashian had repaid Kanye West $23 million for his share of the purchase price of the Hidden Hills home they bought in 2014. The ex-couple also waived spousal support.

In the meantime, the settlement comes after much contention between Kanye and Kim, which was almost headed to a trial next month. It’s unclear if the terms of the agreement are amicable, as Kanye previously claimed that his ex-wife had “kidnapped” their daughter Chicago and has blocked him from seeing his children most of the time.

Kanye West has also had many public meltdowns in relation to the children whom he wanted to attend his Donda Academy sports and religious school.

Juice WRLD’s Girlfriend Ally Renews Claims He Didn’t Die From Overdose

Black Immigrant Daily News

Juice WRLD’s girlfriend Ally Lotti is renewing her claims that the deceased rapper did not die from a drug overdose.

In a new video released on Monday, Ally Lotti repeated the controversial claims that the Chicago rapper had not died from an accidental drug overdose and that fans were not fully aware of everything in relation to the Juice Wrld’s death.

“Y’all mad ’cause literally I’m like, ‘Oh, blah blah blah you guys think he died from an overdose.’ You’re wrong! you’re wrong!” she said, shouting in the video while sitting in a vehicle. “Literally, you’re wrong so suck a d*ck. Okay? S**k a d**k.”

Lotti continued, “There’s a lot of sh*t y’all don’t know that I f**king grieved through myself while I let y’all grieve and talk mad sh*t on me. I don’t care.”

Back in 2020, the Cook County Medical Examiners’ office said that Juice Wrld’s cause of death was an accidental overdose of Oxycodone and codeine. The report referenced high doses of Promethazine and Naloxone in the artist’s blood as well.

While his autopsy cleared his death, police did not treat the matter as a homicide. It’s unclear what Lotti is now alleging.

Juice Wrld

However, Juice Wrld’s last moments appeared to be him being treated for an overdose. The substance, Promethazine in the autopsy report is found in cough syrups and used to treat nausea, while Naloxone is the active ingredient in Narcan, which is used to counteract opioid overdoses.

There is no report that the rapper had a previous overdose, and reports about the day he died by an unnamed team member that the rapper had received doses of Narcan on the morning he died. It’s unclear who administered the Narcan.

There are reports that crew members informed paramedics on the scene that the rapper had received Narcan, administered once, nasally. Paramedics later administered more Narcan after the rapper became unconscious.

In the meantime, Lotti’s claims are not new. She previously made the same allegations back in June 2022, where she hints that there is more to the rapper’s death that contradicts what the official reports are.

“I’ve been quiet for the last year-and-a-half-plus, to myself,” she said in a video back in June.

“Took myself away from everyone because I knew what was going to happen. If people knew what happened the day before Jarad passed, and the day that Jarad passed and everything like that, which I cannot speak upon at this moment. But I will. I will. I just have to make sure that I am safe.

The woman also appeared displeased with the handling of his legacy, including the release of two post-humous albums since his death.

“Know you guys have my full support. I cannot let Jarad’s legacy be what it is. Jarad would never treat any of his fans like this… It’s always been about money and Jarad made enough money to not have this issue. I’m going to take it to court,” she said.

Juice WRLD, whose real name is Jarad Higgins, died on December 8, 2019.

Megan Thee Stallion creates history by being on the cover of Forbes.

The “Savage” rapper has another achievement under her belt as she becomes the first black woman to be featured on the cover of Forbes 30 under 30. On Monday, the cover of the magazine was revealed, showing Megan with fiery red hair and a bright orange dress. Megan Thee Stallion reacted to being told that making the cover was an accomplishment. An off camera person was heard telling Megan, “I want to start off by telling you something, you are the first black female to make the Forbes 30 under 30.”

Megan is clearly excited as she reacts, “[Laughs], it’s really hard to be the first something in 2022 so [screams].”

Megan Thee Stallion added, “I want to be bigger than just my music. I want people to know Megan as everything she ever wanted to be- Megan, the artist. I feel like I always liked to dibble and dabble in a lot of different things and I feel like I got that from my mom and my dad.”

A write-up on Megan was shared by Forbes noting that the rapper’s many accomplishments include her successful hosting of Saturday Night Live as host and performer. According to the magazine, which seemed to have followed her to the October SNL hosting, Thee Stallion scooped up about $13 million in 2022, earned mainly from royalties, ticket sales, endorsements, and merchandize.

The rapper is quoted as saying that there’s no slowing down now. “I’ll take a break when I’m dead. I’m trying to really build something,” she says.

“When I start sitting, I feel like I’m not doing enough or I’m giving somebody else the opportunity to pass me,” she added.

Megan’s earnings now might pale in comparison to other rappers, but the rapper reflected on earning $500 at performances just a few years ago to now working with the likes of Beyoncé, Nicki Minaj, BTS, Cardi B, and others.

This year would mark the third time that Megan has made the Forbes 30 under 30 list.

“In such a short time, and all the curses in between, she’s still able to smile, hold her head up and continue,” says Roc Nation CEO Desiree Perez was quoted saying in reference to Megan’s tenacity and -perspicacity in the face of challenges and loss including the death of her mother and ongoing felony assault trial against Tory Lanez who allegedly shot her in 2020.

Still, the artist remains upbeat and promises fans a 2023 world music tour.

Drake Dedicates Nike Air Force 1 “CLB” To His Mom and Their Favorite Book

Black Immigrant Daily News

The content originally appeared on: Urban Islandz

Drake is all about love, and it seems that his creativity and designs all have a unique connection to the rapper, who revealed on Saturday that his mother inspired the design for his upcoming Certified Lover Boy Air Force 1s.

In a post on Instagram, the rapper shared that his mother, Sandi Graham, and her favorite book inspired the Certified Lover Boy Nike Air Force 1s, which he revealed to fans. The Canadian rapper shared with fans close-up photos of the Air Force 1s showing the phrase “Love you forever” on the side of the shoe as well as three heart-shaped studs on the top.

The “Love you forever” phrase was thought to be an ode to the rapper’s eighth studio album, ‘Certified Lover Boy’ released last September, but Drake is now sharing that the term actually means more to him as he revealed that it is the name of a book that his mother loves.

The rapper shared a photo of the book re-imagined with the Nike swoosh on the front cover with the name, ‘Love You Forever,’ by Robert Munsch and illustrated by Sheila McGraw in a slideshow.

The beloved children’s book was published in 1986, and the storyline is about a mother who has a different lullaby for her son at each new stage in his life.

Drake also shared a sweet note dedicated to his mother.

“For my mother, Your perennial care and nurturing is never lost on me. This book is the time capsule of our love. I long for the days when it was this simple. — Aubrey,” the note read.

While it appears that the Nike X Nocta shoes are a special creation for his mother, fans are still waiting in excitement for the release of the Air Force 1s, which is a deal between Nike and Drake’s sports brand, NOCTA first announced last July.

The shoes suffered a delay, but according to new reports, fans can cop a pair on December 2. The shoes are being retailed for $160.

Drake Confirms ‘Her Loss’, ‘CLB’ and ‘Honestly Nevermind’ Are Trilogy Projects

Black Immigrant Daily News

The content originally appeared on: Urban Islandz

Drake is taking storytelling to a new level as he confirms what some fans have suspected that his last three albums are a trilogy.

While speaking on 21 Savage’s newly launched show “Table For One” about their joint project, the artists discussed their recent joint album ‘Her Loss’ and the recent albums,

According to Drake, the albums are actually a three-part story that starts with everything full of love before moving into despair and hopelessness when the relationship doesn’t work out and then with healing and moving on with no regrets.

“The album is called ‘Her Loss’. We got Certified Lover Boy – that is like, ‘I’m trying my best to make love… I’m chasing you and then ‘Honestly Never Mind’ is the realization that maybe this lifestyle is not for me and ‘Her Loss’ is that, this is like no pigeons, you remember when they dropped no pigeons with no scrubs on?” Drake explained.

In the meantime, the conversation between Drake and 21 Savage also encompassed Savage sharing his gratitude for Drake as he explained that many artists wouldn’t work with someone like him so early in his career, but Drake has consistently given other artists features, which led to their careers blowing up.

“You one of the only artists that make it to a certain level that no matter what you, f**k with the culture f**k with. Even if a nigga got one song and it’s popping like you would still jump on it and embrace a n****a,” 21 Savage tells Drake.

“If you look at our greats, 90% of them niggas don’t do that, just keeping it real. A n***a not doing no project with 21 Savage,” he continued as he recalled the first time he and Drake collaborated when he only had one big song and music video.

In the meantime, Drake ranked ‘Her Loss’ as among the top 5 of his catalog, if not the top 3 of his albums over the course of his career.

The artists’ conversation also included them speaking about ‘Her Loss’ creation, with the artists sharing that they helped each other write their verses. ‘Her Loss’ is Drake’s third joint album over the course of his career. The album debuted with 404K units sold in its first week and has remained on the Billboard Top 10 chart since its release in early November.

Hovain’s family announced his passing on his Instagram page on Saturday morning.

“It is with deep regret that we message to all family, friends, and colleagues that Jonathan’ Hovain’ Hylton passed away while at his home on Friday (Nov. 25). He was a beloved and devoted father, husband, son, brother, and a proud Brooklyn representative,” the post read.

Hovain’s death comes just about a week after he was recognized as a leading music executive. The Cinematic Music Group president shared his pleasure at the honor on his Instagram account.

“I’ve always prided myself on just being a good person and a hard worker. Never was big on awards. The way I came in this game was the independent route so I always knew caring too much about the politics wasn’t going to help me. Popcaan and Toni-Ann Singh Teases Collab “Next To Me” Dropping Soon

Black Immigrant Daily News

The content originally appeared on: Urban Islandz

Dancehall superstar Popcaan and the rumored love of his life, Former Jamaica Miss World Toni-Ann Singh, are set to release their first collaboration and her debut song.

On Friday, Popcaan shared a cover photo announcing the single, which featured him on a Harley Davidson with Toni-Ann sitting pretty behind him on the bike.

Both are seen wearing sunglasses while Popcaan accessorizes his look with a face mask while Toni-Ann sports sexy blue strappy heels. On his Instagram account, Popcaan reveals that the song “Next To Me” is featuring Singh and will also be a single on his upcoming album ‘Great is He’. The artist also drops a date- November 30, which is either for the single or perhaps the long-awaited album.

Popcaan and Singh, who are both from the parish of St Thomas, were first linked back in June of this year after she was spotted jetting to Grenada with the OVO artist for one of his performances. It seems that the artist was hinting at their music from back then.

“Stay right next to me! #GIHE,” he captioned photos that showed him and Singh walking together, sharing a hug, and in the same space.

The photos caused the rumor to begin that the two were romantically involved, but neither has confirmed whether they are involved or not. Popcaan spurred further rumors with his Burna Boy collaboration named “Toni-Ann Singh,” on which the “Relevant” artist confesses his love for the beauty queen and also hints at wanting to marry her.

The song, which is on Burna Boy’s ‘Love, Damini’ album, has also been immensely successful. In the meantime, fans reacted to the announcement. “Energggyy Connect!” Jesse Royal said.

Toni-Ann also shared the heart and fire emoji along with the hand signal similar to the Unruly sign.
