50 Cent Bans Trey Songz and His Shenanigans From Tycoon Weekend

Black Immigrant Daily News

The content originally appeared on: Urban Islandz

50 Cent called out Trey Songz on Tuesday, whom he said is banned from future events due to his bad behavior, which included breaking up things at the event and brawling over women.

50 Cent’s Tycoon Houston Comedy Music Fest took place last weekend. The event drew in a large crowd who were there to support the rapper and producer’s G-Unity Foundation, which hosted the event to raise funds for charity.

The event was held at the Toyota Center on August 25 and featured comedians B-Simone, Karlous Miller, Michael Blackson, Bill Bellamy, DC Young Fly, Jess Hilarious, Gary Owen, Lil Duval, and D’Lai. 50 Cent also gave a closing performance along with surprise “guest friends.”

The event funds all go to G-Unity Foundation and the G-Unity Business Lab with the Houston Independent School District to support students’ educational ventures, especially in business.

However, it seems that Trey Songz’s attendance for the second year in a row left a sour taste in 50 Cent’s mouth as he blasted the R&B singer for creating mayhem. 50 Cent shared on his Instagram account a poster with a stamp that said ‘Banned From Tycoon,’ which was plastered in red over a photo of Songz.

The ‘Power’ producer is usually jovial and hilarious with his posts about others, especially his trolling, but he appeared very serious as he shared that Songz not only misbehaved at a past event but he was also fighting this time around.

“Last TYCOON he crashed a Wraith,” 50 began. “This TYCOON he was acting crazy, wanting to fight and sh8t over the girls. He broke some sh*** up in his room. Nah tell @treysongz he can’t come. SMH,” the rapper said.

Trey Songz has not responded to 50 Cent as yet, but he has been very quiet since the year started as several women have accused him of sexual assault. He had a mini week last month after a witness confessed that an attorney promised to pay her if she lied about witnessing Songz assaulting a woman. A determination of that case has not been made as yet.

He is still facing allegations and a pending civil suit from former UNLV basketball player Dylan Gonzalez who accused him of raping her at a Las Vegas hotel.

Drake Gets History Lessons After Saying 2020 ‘hardest year in human history’

Black Immigrant Daily News

The content originally appeared on: Urban Islandz

Drake made a bold statement that 2020 was the hardest year in human history and fans quickly gave him some history lessons.

A video of Drake in an interview has gone viral with a quote from the Canadian rapper irking some people. The rapper is seen with short hair, and his signature heart design faded into the front of his hairline, which suggests the video is from sometime last year as he donned the special cut to celebrate his ‘Certified Lover Boy’ album.

It’s the statement that Drake makes that has people up in arms as the rapper appears to be speaking about the year 2020 and says it is the worst year in human history.

Now, the Covid-19 pandemic had a devastating effect on countries across the world, with 6.4 million people dying and more than 603 million being infected from the virus. Many countries shut down and banned gatherings to stop the virus. As a result, countries are now dealing with an economic downturn as inflation rises, and the cost of living goes up. Some countries were also hard hit, and many people also lost their lives to Covid.

“The hardest year maybe in human history that we’ve ever been through,” he begins while the video cuts to ominous music with an empty street, and the camera zooms in on a sign that says, “If you want live music back, wear a mask.”

“Forget music, as a people like, the hardest time to ever connect with people, relate to people,” the rapper says in an ominous tone.

It’s unclear where the video is from or what interview it was, but many people took to social media to school the Toronto rapper.

“This is why ppl have to study history because wtf,” one person wrote on Instagram. “Wait till he hear about slavery and segregation,” another said. “Don’t say human history, say in your lifetime. Far worst have gone on. SMH Aubrey,” another told him.

Some of the rapper’s fans did speak up in his defense.

“He meant for this generation,” one person said. “He said that we’ve ever lived through. He must’ve meant our generation,” another said.

Jay-Z Recorded His 4-Minute “God Did” Verse In One Take, Says Young Guru

Black Immigrant Daily News

Jay-Z only needed one take to record 4 minutes of spitting bars.

What many consider to be one of Jay-Z’s greatest verses ever was recorded in one take. Hip Hop fans have been raving about Hov’s verse on DJ Khaled’s “GOD DID,” and now his longtime engineer Young Guru recently revealed that not only is it a banger, but the rapper dropped it all in one take.

The verse even impressed Young Guru, who has been working with Jay-Z for about two decades now. According to the engineer, in all of his years working with Jay-Z, he had never seen anything like that verse. The track is off of DJ Khaled’s new album, which dropped last Friday, August 26.

“People think I’m still not amazed when he walk in and do these verses. And this one was different because normally, we’ll sit down, we’ll do a song, three verses, two verses or whatever, and he’ll have a verse and then we’ll figure out what’s next,” he said while speaking with Genius’ Rob Markman and GQ’s Frazier Tharpe.

He went on to say that the “Empire State of Mind” rapper walked into the studio, spitting the verse already. While he was rapping, he asked Guru to put the beat on so he could record. Guru shared that he did not have the beat at the time, and after Hov shared it with him, he began to loop it but was stopped by the New York native.

Jay-Z then told him to contact Khaled because he wanted the entire instrumental in putting the words to the beat.

He revealed that he also didn’t know Jay-Z had almost four minutes prepared and enough bars for his verse already.

“I’m just in amazement of watching him do this again at 52 years old. It’s like, I never stop being amazed. That’s why I tweeted ’cause it’s just like, ‘Yo, I don’t really wanna have a conversation after this,’” he added.

He was so impressed that he even Tweeted about it before the song dropped.

“HOV is the greatest of all time. This can’t be debated anymore!!!” he posted at that time.

Sean Paul’s Old Water Polo Photos With Teammate In Jamaica Going Viral

Black Immigrant Daily News

Photos of a very young Sean Paul during his days as a member of Jamaica’s national water polo team have surfaced thanks to one of the Grammy-winning artist’s old teammates.

The photos show a relatively young Paul along with a young man named Jake Muller together. Muller shared the photos on Twitter in response to a random tweet that asked followers to “tweet a true story from your life that sounds made up.”

In response, Muller said, “when I was 16, I played water polo against Grammy Award-winning reggae artist Sean Paul.”

The tweet accompanied three photos showing Muller shaking hands with Sean Paul. The Jamaican is seen wearing a white t-shirt and a grey cap on his head with what looks like braids peeking out.

There is also a troll-worthy photo of Paul and Muller, who are both bare-chested and wearing black speedos with nothing else to cover their abs and torsos. Paul has not reacted to the photos, but he was last spotted performing in Nottingham, United Kingdom.

Sean Paul previously spoke about his time on the water polo team, which started when he was 13 – 21 years old.

In an interview this year, Paul said he gave up a possible career in water polo sport to follow his music career. In a Guardian interview, the “Baby Girl” artist says that his family was going through immense hardship after his father was imprisoned. As he fluttered to understand all that was happening while also coping with his new economic circumstances, he turned to Bob Marley’s music for inspiration.

The singer said that after releasing his first song and being told that he would be a “one-hit-wonder,” he was determined to prove everyone wrong, and that’s when he quit water polo in 1996 to chase after his dreams of becoming an artiste. He is credited among the very few who exposed dancehall as a genre to the world.

To date Sean Paul is a 9 time Grammy nominated dancehall artist with one Grammy win under his belt.

M.I.A. Threatens To Leak Nicki Minaj & Doja Cat Songs Off ‘MATA’ Album

Black Immigrant Daily News

The content originally appeared on: Urban Islandz

M.I.A. has upcoming music with Nicki Minaj and Doja Cat on her upcoming album MATA, but it seems that there are hitches with the album being released, and now she is threatening to leak the songs.

M.I.A says she might leak the songs if her album is not released on the date it was originally scheduled to drop.

The latest project is long in coming as M.I.A’s last album Aim was released in 2016, and she has been quiet on the music scene. On Tuesday, the artist shared that she has had collaborations with Minaj and Doja for years now and wants them to drop by the end of September.

“Coming soon I promise,” she began. “I had to wait two years for a Doja Cat verse… Then a Nicki one… Then a… Nevermind. If MATA isn’t out [in] September I will leak it myself.”

The Sri Lankan artist is releasing her forthcoming album as the first with her deal with Island Records. She was previously signed to Interscope Records/XL Recordings, but their relationship deteriorated quickly.

In the meantime, MATA does not have an official release date, although two songs from the album -“One” and “Popular,” have been released.

This is not the first time that M.I.A is threatening to leak an album. Back in 2013, at the height of her drama with Interscope, she had threatened to leak her album Matangi after the label allegedly held back her album due to it being “too positive.”

The album took eight months to release. M.I.A shot to fame with her track “Paper Planes.”

In the meantime, news of more releases from Nicki Minaj was met with excitement from the Barbs, Minaj’s fan base, even though more details were not released. Minaj recently received the MTV Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award and also just dropped her new remix “Likkle Miss (Remix)” featuring Skeng Don from Jamaica and also her Billboard No. 1 hit “Super Freaky Girl,” which samples Rick James’ “Freak.”

As for Doja Cat, she is busy creating headlines with the absence of her eyebrows and her music from her last album Planet Her, which remains one of the longest-running albums on the Billboard 200.

She recently released the video for her track “Vegas,” which is also the Elvis Original Motion Picture Soundtrack.

Tekashi 6ix9ine Says “I Find Myself In A Pretty Dark Place All The Time”

Black Immigrant Daily News

The content originally appeared on: Urban Islandz

It looks like rap’s most infamous informant, Tekashi 6ix9ine, is having a tough go at it these days after admitting he is in a dark place.

That’s if we’re to go by his seemingly drunken Instagram Live update, which he posted over the weekend. There’s no doubt that the rapper has struggled to make ends meet ever since his release from prison. However, he may be struggling much more mentally than we know.

6ix9ine’s mental health has been such a struggle in recent times that he admitted he’s not quite sure when he will get back to rapping.

“Guys, I want to start this thing off with saying I love my fans. I know you guys have been expecting a lot of music. Just right now, genuinely I’m not mentally … I don’t want to give you guys any false hope. I’m there. I’m just trying to get mentally right, just with everything,” he added.

The “GOOBA” singer then went on to admit that he was wasted and that he was in a pretty dark place at the moment. He added that he’s been trying to shake off the dark feelings, but that was proving difficult. According to the New York native, he barely uses Instagram and the internet anymore. The situation has also prevented him from going to the studio.

It seems the Live was done in Miami, and when he filmed it, he was indeed going through a rough patch. According to TMZ, his girlfriend Rachel Wattley, who is also known as Jade, was arrested on domestic violence charges after she is believed to have punched him inside a nightclub.

The story broke today, August 29, and it was also reported that they were celebrating Jade’s sister’s birthday at the time. 6ix9ine is still supporting her and trying to get her out of jail as he said the incident was caused because of alcohol and not out of malice.

“I’m gonna get her out jail. She attacked me in front of the police I told them, ‘You have to evaluate her she’s obviously under the influence I don’t plan to press charges … I’m the one trying to bail her out,” he added.

According to police reports, the incident began after a verbal argument in the club which forced them to leave. When officers probed the couple, 6ix9ine said that his girlfriend had assaulted him.

Officers also stated that they saw marks on his face and asked witnesses what happened. Following the investigation, they discovered that Wattley apparently hit 6ix9ine and attempted to grab his chain, but he refused to press charges.

Popcaan Link With J. Cole & Kevin Durant On Vacation With Drake

Black Immigrant Daily News

The content originally appeared on: Urban Islandz

Could a Popcaan and J. Cole collab be in the works?

The Unruly Boss is rubbing shoulders with some of hip hop’s finest as he continues his vacation in Turks and Caicos with Drake and others. The Jamaican dancehall artist has been on the Caribbean Island since August 23, when he first shared photos of himself on Air Drake. Popcaan was spotted there with OVO label boss Drake at the beach, at parties, and out and about the villa they were staying at, where he appeared to spend time chilling and living it up.

On Tuesday, Popcaan shared that he was getting his self-care on as he shared a photo dump of himself at the spa where he was getting a facial. He also later posed for a photo with platinum-selling, Grammy-award-winning artist J. Cole and basketball player Kevin Durant.

In other videos, the artist shared several videos where they were picking out lunch- a bunch of giant-sized lobsters as well as videos of Drake being a daredevil as he rode around on his jet ski.

Other photos also showed Popcaan getting his hair shampooed by an unknown woman and him being kind to a thirsty baby crane. “Pull up to the bar on a jet to the ski,” he captioned the photo dump.

Popcaan has been working on his upcoming album Great is He, although he has not revealed a release date for the track. He previewed the album’s name in February, but he has not given any updates since. It’s unclear if being with J. Cole is an indication of music to come, and Popcaan has not said anything beyond the photos he posted.

The upcoming album is dropping under Drake’s OVO label, which previously released his mixtape ‘Vanquish’, and ‘Fixtape,’ the latter of which debuted at No. 2 on Billboard’s Reggae chart and Billboard’s 200 charts at No. 94.

With songs like “Bank and God,” “All I need,” “Friends Like These,” and “My Way,” Drake had also argued that Popcaan should have been nominated for a Grammy for the 2020 project.

Busy signal Shares His Jamaica Pride When Traveling In Calls For Peace

Black Immigrant Daily News

The content originally appeared on: Urban Islandz

Veteran dancehall artist, Busy Signal, has one wish for Jamaica, and that is that there will be peace on the island. As Jamaicans get ready to celebrate the nation’s diamond jubilee, this dream has come even more into focus.

The “One More Night” deejay made the comments during a recent interview with the Star.

He added that even though that wish may seem impossible right now, especially with violent crime on the rise, he prays for a peaceful Jamaica. While it may seem somewhat unattainable at the moment, he added that it’s a matter of putting positive vibes out into the universe.

His dream extends to seeing a Jamaica without the numerous amount of crimes, senseless violence, and altercations.

The latest data shows that there have been 968 murders between January 1 and August 22 in Jamaica.

The “Come Over” artists also shared that it was not just about the violent crimes but that there are other socioeconomic changes that have to take place before Jamaica can realize its fullest potential. He added that one of the issues that must be addressed is true equality.

“I just want equality as well not just upper class. I want equality for all classes of Jamaicans. We should just be comfortable and enjoy the paradise that we have pon di rock, our little island Jamaica, that’s very great,” he said.

It may be because his illustrious career has taken him around the world that he has a different perspective on the issues that Jamaica is currently facing.

Busy Signal admitted that having the opportunity to travel the globe has helped him to better understand how Jamaicans are perceived. The dancehall veteran said that sometimes people may say negative things, but in the end, he’s noticed that no matter what being Jamaican is a thing filled with pride.

The distinction makes every Jamaican unique because they are different from any other place in the world, he continued.

“You come from [the] USA, you come from Canada, you come from England, it’s not that feeling you get when a person asks, ‘You’re a Jamaican?’ When you go to Madagascar, or different parts of Africa, or just different parts of the world, and people find out that you’re Jamaican, it’s just that type of distinctive difference,” he added.

Busy Signal, whose real name is Reanno Devon Gordon, is a born and bred Jamaican who was born in St Ann and grew up in several areas around the island, including Tivoli Gardens and Spanish Town. He’s been in the competitive dancehall genre since 2005 and has been able to maintain a very successful career.

The “Dreams of Brighter Days” singer revealed that he is working on new music but did not let on too much about what he had in store for his fans.

One of his latest projects was a single called “Big Up Jamaica” in collaboration with Red Stripe for its Jamaica 60 campaign. Busy recently released two new singles, “Old School New School” and “Feeling,” with Oryane and Blaiz Fayah.

His wish for a peaceful and prosperous Jamaica is probably echoed by all living on the island who are hoping that the recent spate of violence will soon dissipate.
