A$AP Rocky Calls Former Friend Relli’s Lawsuit Over Shooting ‘Extortion’

Black Immigrant Daily News

The content originally appeared on: Urban Islandz

A$AP Rocky has responded to his former friend’s lawsuit where he accuses him of being jealous and trying to extort him over his shooting claims.

According to legal docs, Rocky’s lawyer Joe Tacopina says that the artist is a “failed shakedown” attempt by A$AP Relli, whom they accuse of fabricating the shooting allegation because he is jealous of his former friend. A$AP Rocky, born Rakim Mayers, is separately facing criminal charges for the alleged shooting that took place in November 2021 in Hollywood. Relli is separately suing the rapper for damages for assault, battery, and intentional infliction of emotional distress using boilerplate language.

“Rocky didn’t shoot him by any stretch,” Tacopina was quoted by Rolling Stone as he referred to the criminal case as “just a plain and blatant classic attempt at extortion.”

According to Tacopina, Relli, whose real name is Terell Ephron, allegedly physically attacked Rocky at a face-to-face meeting. The lawyer claims that the two men were at odds with Relli “badgering” Rocky for money before the incident. The lawyer says that Relli’s lawsuit is based on a fabricated shooting claim even though police say that they have CCTV footage showing Rocky during the incident and running away after.

A$AP Rocky’s legal team filed their defense on Thursday as they responded to the civil suit where he denied all of Relli’s claims.

“Answering defendant generally denies each and every allegation of the complaint, and specifically denies that plaintiff has been damaged in any amount or in any way as a result of any act or omission of answering defendant,” the reply filed in the Los Angeles County Superior Court read.

A$AP Rocky’s reply outlines several defenses in tort that he relies on, including contributory negligence, where he says that Relli’s injuries “were caused solely, directly and proximately by the negligent and/or intentional acts or omissions” of others and that Relli himself “failed to exercise reasonable care to avoid the consequences of harm.”

ASAP Rocky’s response contradicts what Relli’s lawsuit claims which is that Rocky had asked him to meet up at the Hollywood location on November 6, 2021, and he started the verbal altercation before Rocky allegedly pulled out a semiautomatic handgun and fired several shots in Relli’s direction. Relli is represented by attorneys Jamal Tooson and Brian Hurwitz.

In the meantime, Rocky pleaded not guilty plea to two counts of using a semiautomatic firearm to assault Relli. He is currently out on a $550,000 bond. If convicted of the criminal offense, he may face up to nine years in prison.

At the time of the “Fashion Filla” rapper’s arrest back in May this year, he was awaiting the birth of his baby boy, whom he shares with billionaire businesswoman Rihanna.

Black Immigrant Daily News

The content originally appeared on: Urban Islandz

Bobby Shmurda is reacting to allegations made by a man who claimed he was in a video with the New York rapper.

The MC fans are demanding a response from him after he posted a video lying in bed with two persons covered under the sheets with him. Bobby Shmurda had initially posted the video on his Instagram account as he promoted his “Hoochie Daddy” track. In the track, Bobby has his hands around the two persons. One of them is completely covered, while another has his hair and part of his forehead showing. While smoking a blunt, Bobby says, “I know I said I was going to rehab but come on you kno I was just bull****ingggg man,” as he laughs.

On Wednesday, a man who identified himself as a LGBTQ member claimed that he was in the video with Bobby. Sharing the video on his Facebook page under the same name, he wrote, “I’m mad shy but Bobby loves meee.” The video has been liked 220,000 times and has been shared many times. In the comments, the man, Raza, says that the person whose forehead is showing is him after a follower question his hairline to that of the person in the video.

“That really looks like a mans hairline,” a follower wrote to which Raza responded, “duh it’s mine.”

It’s unclear if Raza is telling the truth. Bobby Shmurda addressed the post on Friday, although he did not confirm or deny whether he was in bed with men.

“That’s why y’all still broke after all these years you spend your time on bull**** and cap to make y’all feel better…tap into reality. go get you some Shmoney #viralpost,” he captioned a photo with graphics that read, “when the hate don’t work they start telling lies.”

@itsbobbyshmurda

Shmurda also hinted that his former label could be behind the “viral post” to sabotage him.

“I’m really that scary… ay they trying to f*** up my tour… cuz I’m not with them anymore and I’m taking they artist on tour like they try sabotage my EP lower my sound all kinda crazy nerd sh** they don’t want it played nowhere They pay for they artist to get played at #reallife #trillers #bandit #bigmad #independentartist #slaveship #nogood,” he wrote in a caption.

The Yutes Recruits Dancehall Star Govana For “Riches & Power”

Black Immigrant Daily News

The content originally appeared on: Urban Islandz

The Yutes and Govana have a special connection. This was clearly shown in the release of their second single, “Riches & Power,” from their forthcoming album Ghetto Yutes.

The track, which was produced by Cin-Trax, is a musical journey through a few different genres of music, including dancehall, ska, and Hip Hop. Govana is also featured on the track. The Yutes seem to be all about the music, no matter what the genre is. This is evidenced by their catalog, which incorporates Hip Hop, dancehall, reggae, and even some trap. Dancehall fans are well acquainted with Govana’s work, and he’s one of the top artists coming out of the island.

This track will expose him to a new market and may open doors for him in the US. Govana, whose real name is Romeo Nelson, is considered a prodigy of dancehall heavy hitter, Aidonia. He has not disappointed and has continued to keep putting out hits.

The video for the track was directed by Shane Creative and focused on Govana’s home ground in Spanish Town, St. Catherine. In it, the “Mannaz” artist is at a beachfront pool party location flowing with both women and luxury. Govana’s distinct voice permeates the vibe of the video and sets the tone for a banger.

The video is full of color and suggests those involved are having the time of their lives. They are very comfortable around each other, and this is probably because the Yutes have always shared their vision to create unique audio and visual experience that combines Jamaican and American music and culture.

That’s according to CEO Chuck Wilson of Babygrande, who added: “In collaboration with Govana, Shane Creative many others, I believe they have truly brought their vision to fruition with ‘Riches & Power.’”

They’ve stayed true to that mission of global superstardom and, in the last few years, collaborated with stars from both the U.S. and Jamaica. One of their latest singles, “Get Money,” features another heavyweight in dancehall, Masicka.

In that track, they went for the combination of dancehall and trap music which saw them get the video into rotation both in the US and the wider Caribbean. The track is already nearing 700,000 views on YouTube as well.

Popcaan continues his supremacy in dancehall with an upcoming collab with Post Malone.

There’s no doubt that the Unruly Boss is the hottest deejay in the game right now, and an upcoming collaboration with one of the best-selling rappers of this generation, Post Malone, will only help cement his position as one of the greatest Jamaicans to ever take up the mic. The collab was revealed by Post Malone’s Manager Dre London while speaking with the Observer. London also has a connection to Jamaica and may have been influential in getting the two artists to work together.

Dre London revealed that he and the “Firm and Strong” artist had already discussed the song and that Post Malone loves Popcaan’s work. He added that the pair had already met each other at one of the “Sunflower” rapper’s shows in the UK.

Popcaan has a long list of collaborations with high-profile artists, including Young Thug, Burna Boy, Davido, Maroon 5, and Drake, to name a few. His career is now just over a decade, and he has shown the rest of the industry that he has what it takes to maintain being one of the most sought-after artists in the genre.

Post Malone has enjoyed a similar trajectory and is beloved in the US for his unique blend of music. He also has just about a decade in the game and has a diamond-certified single called “Congratulations” featuring Quavo and has also set the record for most weeks at 77 on the US Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums Chart.

The rapper, whose real name is Austin Richard Post, has sold more than 13 million albums and 95 million digital singles and is also ranked the eighth best-selling digital artiste. He has also won 10 Billboard Music Awards, three American Music Awards, and one MTV Video Music Award.

Last year, Post Malone became the youngest artist in history to earn three RIAA diamond-certified singles. His songs “Rockstar” featuring 21 Savage, “Sunflower” featuring Swae Lee, and the 21 Savage assisted “Congratulations,” have all sold over 10 million copies in the United States. On top of that, he has many platinum and gold records under his belt.

Popcaan getting on a song with Post Malone will certainly further his success commercially as an artist on the international scene.

There’s no doubt that when these two greats get together, the track will be fire.

T.I. found a way to deal with his son recent arrest using comedy.

It looks like veteran T.I. has had a change of heart about his son King’s recent arrest. Either that or he’s following the old adage, ‘If you don’t laugh, you’ll cry.’ That’s what fans seem to think after a clip began circulating on social media of him making light of the situation while on stage at what looks like a comedy show. In the clip, he makes fun of a conversation he had with Boosie Badazz, whose son’s name was not released. They were arrested in Atlanta at the Waffle House on September 1.

The pair were released the next morning, and so far, both dads have remained tight-lipped on what they were arrested for. The day after the arrest, T.I. took to Instagram Live, where he told his fans that he thanked them for their concern but informed them that he had spoken to his son several times.

“Think I ain’t told my son, his mama and his grandmamas? His ass goin’ to prison! If he gotdamn keep this shit up, his ass goin’ to prison. Can’t nobody stop it but him. I’ve already made my peace with it because I know that energy. I was that energy. I know exactly how it’s gonna turn out,” he said at the time.

Meanwhile, King also uploaded to his Instagram Stories and seemed proud while sitting next to a female friend going over their respective violations. As the woman in the video discloses that she received a violation for not wearing a seatbelt, King announced he received four.

Fans seemed to be all for T.I’s new approach to the situation as one said, “I laughed! The impersonation is hilarious…the “mane” is spot on,” while another added, “Tip Chappelle.” That title became the popular opinion in the comment thread.

Watch the video and let us know if you agree we should start calling him Tip Chapelle.

Tyrese Shares Trolling Video and Accuses Ex-Wife Of Lying In Divorce

Black Immigrant Daily News

The content originally appeared on: Urban Islandz

Tyrese Gibson shares a video seemingly trolling his ex-wife and accusing her of lying during their divorce.

The Fast and Furious star is evidently not pleased with his ex-wife Samantha Lee as he shared a video calling her out for allegedly lying about him. On Thursday night, Tyrese posted a video of a woman slipping and falling on some rocks by the ocean side. The woman whose back is against the camera slides on the rocks and shoots into the ocean. It’s unclear if the video is of his ex-wife, but Tyrese posted a caption as he got some things off his chest.

“Samantha really thought she pulled it off,” he wrote. “God don’t like ugly. 15 blatant lies under penalty of perjury drug [sic] my name and reputation in the mud and drug an unexpected divorce into two years,” he wrote.

Tyrese is miffed at Samantha Lee-Gibson, who was recently granted $10,690 per month in child support. The two share a 3-year-old daughter, Soraya Lee and Samantha Lee had initially asked the court for $20,000, which Tyrese fought in court, calling it “unreasonably high.”

The judge had shut down Tyrese, who said he was not aware of how much money he made. The court ordered that the parents split childcare expenses 50/50 while Tyrese has to maintain a life insurance plan of $1.9 million for Soraya as the beneficiary and her mother as the trustee.

The judge had also chided Tyrese, who has had various social media meltdowns over the divorce, while Lee remained private.

“I want you both to love your kid, and I want you both to tell your kid to love the other parent because that’s how we get successful human beings,” the presiding judge said before alluding to winners in their divorce.

Gibson and Lee jointly announced their divorce in December 2020. They were married for almost four years. In court documents, Samantha Lee had accused Tyrese of locking her and their daughter out of the Georgia home that was their matrimonial home. Gibson has only said that the marriage has irretrievably broken down in her divorce petition, not giving much detail.

Shenseea Spits Busta Rhymes Iconic “Look At Me” Verse With Ding Dong – Watch

Black Immigrant Daily News

The content originally appeared on: Urban Islandz

Shenseea nailed Busta Rhymes verse on Chris Brown’s “Look At Me” like its her own.

The Jamaican artist has been rising up the ranks in music, and her Funk Flex freestyle has shown that she is a cut above the rest with her lyrics, but it seems that the dancehall deejay’s good listening skills are also top-tier. In a video shared on Instagram, Shenseea spits perhaps what is Busta Rhymes most iconic verse. The verse is from Chris Brown’s “Look At Me Now,” with Busta and Lil Wayne, where both rappers bodied the track.

“Tell me why did I let my friends put me up to do this,” she said, laughing as she tagged fellow Romeich Entertainment artist Ding Dong and Busta Rhymes. “Istg imma go catch this verse,” she added.

Busta Rhymes reacted to the video with a series of laughing emojis. While the verse was rapped so speedily, it’s impressive that Shenseea could follow along with the rapper as the lyrics on paper and the lyrics in sound do not resemble. Busta Rhymes’ style of rap is also unique to him in the hip-hop space, as not many rappers can spit a verse the way he does. The 2011 song has been certified platinum by the RIAA, and “Look At Me” music video currently has over 550 million views on YouTube.

Meanwhile, Shenseea has been booked and busy as she recently performed at Rolling Loud Canada and was recently spotted performing in France. The artist’s stage performance in France was electric, and that was reciprocated by fans who sang her songs along.

Sharing her fire orange fit from France with stones mimicking water drops, Shenseea wrote, “Paris, Pop in, Pop out!”

The Jamaican singer has been having one of the best years in her career following the release of her debut album, Alpha, earlier this year. The project received critical acclaim from fans and critics alike and further cemented Shenseea as one of the greatest female Jamaican artists of all time. Since dropping off the project, she has been touring almost nonstop, including a packed summer schedule with shows in Europe, the Caribbean, Canada, and the US. In between her tour dates, she also finds time to record new music for her sophomore album, due sometime next year.

Latto Salutes Mariah Carey Ignore Nicki Minaj Beef: ‘Mariah Really Changed My Life’

Black Immigrant Daily News

The content originally appeared on: Urban Islandz

Latto ignores her rumored beef with Nicki Minaj and instead showered Mariah Carey with praise.

Latto is one of the few lucky artists to land a collaboration with Mariah Carey. On Thursday, the artist shared her gratitude to Mariah for being able to collaborate with her and for the many welcomed changes it has made in her life. The artist shared her reflection in a tweet.

“Just sitting here thinking how @MariahCarey really changed my life. Everything has been up since you embraced me Queen,” she began. “I’m so thankful to have worked with you!!! Hope you’re having a good day,” she wrote.

It’s been a good year for the 24-year-old Atlanta artist who won Best New Artist at the BET awards back in June. This is her first career award despite a few nominations in the past. Back in March this year, things began looking up for Latto, who already had a top 10 hit with “Big Energy,” but a remix of the song featuring Mariah Carey and DJ Khaled gave Latto her first No. 1 single.

The song hit No. 1 on the United States iTunes chart within 24 hours after it was released on March 28. The song, which sampled Tom Tom Club’s 1981 single, “Genius Of Love,” was previously sampled by Mariah Carey in her song “Fantasy.”

Before her remix, “Big Energy” had peaked at No. 14 on the Billboard Hot 100 in September 2021, which was the highest-charting song of her career.

She previously spoke about the song’s content and why a lot of her fans related to it, where she attributed the idea to the trendy “big d*** energy” quote that started on Twitter. Latto wanted to remove the idea that the quote can only be used in a masculine context, which is why as a female rapper, she opted to create an uplifting banger purely on just that idea.

Latto recently released her album 777 and has a new song, “It’s Giving,” out on streaming services.

The Atlanta rapper’s name was recently mentioned in a rumored beef with Nicki Minaj. Latto opted to ignore those chatters and instead used her platform to homage Mariah Carey, who perhaps gave her her biggest hit to date.

Talks of a feud between Latto and Nicki Minaj arose following the Trini rapper’s recent Queen Radio, where she spoke about new female rappers trying to categorize themselves among rappers like herself who have been in the game for two decades. While she didn’t mention Latto’s name during her statement, her fans pounced on it and singled out the “Big Energy” rapper among the shortlist.

Kanye West End Yeezy Deal With Gap To Focus On His Own Retail Store

Black Immigrant Daily News

The content originally appeared on: Urban Islandz

Kanye West’s billion-dollar brand Yeezy is terminating its deal with Gap inc just a year after they first signed in 2020 for the brand to carry his Yeezy merch that includes premium-priced hoodies, shoes, and other clothing items.

The move comes less than a week after Kanye West threatened legal action against Gap and Adidas over alleged contractual violations. The rapper had said on Instagram that both companies failed to meet their contractual obligations, which were to help expand his Yeezy brand.

In a letter to Gap, which has been shared with the press, Kanye West told the company that he was ending their Yeezy collaboration because Gap failed to meet certain obligations set out in the agreement. The letter says that the deal was for the company to distribute products to store locations and create dedicated YZY Gap stores before the end of the second half of 2021, which it has failed to do by the second.

Kanye’s lawyer, Nicholas Gravante, says the rapper had brought his concerns to Gap, but nothing has been done since. “Yeezy notified Gap of its concerns in August and gave the company a contractually-designated 30 days to cure its breaches,” Gravante said.

The attorney added that the breach by Gap has impacted the Yeezy brand negatively as forecasted income is impacted. “Ye will now promptly move forward to make up for lost time by opening Yeezy retail stores,” the lawyer said to CNBC.

The Yeezy-Gap contract would have run until 2026, and based on the agreement, Kanye would receive royalties and equity based on the sales. Under the agreement, he was to receive 8.5 million shares once defined sales targets were achieved.

In the meantime, it seems that Gap might be affected by low sales due to the state of the economy. The Yeezy-Gap collab was estimated to bring in $1 billion in sales in the first year of the agreement but the store has seen reduced sales as inflation rises in the U.S in past months. Gap has not formally addressed any of Kanye’s rants on Instagram or in his letter.

Last week, Kanye shared that he was ready to build his brick-and-mortar stores to expand his brand.

“I made the companies money. The companies made me money. We created ideas that will change apparel forever. Like the round jacket, the foam runner, the slides that have changed the shoe industry. Now it’s time for Ye to make the new industry. No more companies standing in between me and the audience,” he had said in an interview with Bloomberg Business.

In the meantime, it’s unclear what action Kanye is taking from Adidas, whom he accused of stealing his designs and mass-producing gears in China.

In the meantime, Kanye West was spotted at New York Fashion Week, where his Yeezy runway was exhibited to his fans and followers. He appeared happy as he smiled in press photos and in the company of supermodel Winnie Harlow.

Stefflon Don Says Burna Boy Lied In “Last Last” About Their Relationship

Black Immigrant Daily News

The content originally appeared on: Urban Islandz

Stefflon Don is finally reacting publicly to Burna Boy’s hit song “Last Last” where he referenced their past relationship.

Stefflon Don has no hard feelings towards her ex-boyfriend Burna Boy as she speaks about moving on and not wanting to date any more artists. Speaking with Hot 97’s TT Torez, the British-born Jamaican artist was asked about the breakup, which she disclosed had occurred more than a year before it became known in the media.

According to Steff, they were together for two and a half years before the breakup. When asked about Burna Boy’s latest chart-topper “Last Last” and whether the song was about her, the singer exudes confidence in her response, saying, “It is what it is.”

Reports are that she ended the relationship because the Nigerian rapper had cheated on her. Burna Boy’s “Last Last” also seems to hint that the singer is having a hard time getting over Stefflon. “When I heard it, how did I feel? He said something in it and I was like ‘Boy that’s a lie’ whatever, it’s whatever,” she said.

Although Stefflon Don is a lot of people’s dream girl, the “Senseless” singer says that she’s getting a lot of DMs from possible suitors, but she’s not interested in dating another artist. She also said that she was only interested in dating if it was for a serious relationship.

“You know what it is, I’m just a lover of love,” she says as she says her horoscope is Sagittarius. “and I don’t know how to like go out with a guy without thinking ‘oh, I’m going to marry you’, do you understand what I’m saying? I don’t how to- I just feel like I’m wasting my time,” she said.

“It has to be worth it like I have to be seeing a future with you,” she added.

Stefflon Don says she is a workaholic and enjoys her work as she distracts herself. However, if she is to consider a future prospect, it’s a hard no for industry players. “Not in music, I’m alright with that, no, anything else but not with music,” Stefflon says.

Meanwhile, Stefflon is gearing up for a new album release which is called ‘Island 54’ and is set to drop sometime later this month. The “Hurtin Me” singer revealed that this album is her first as an independent artist since leaving Capital and QCM prior to the pandemic.
