Takeoff, Quavo, and Drake were among the celebrities who tribute the late Migos rapper at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta.

Takeoff had an emotional send-off, with friends and family turning up as they paid their final respects to him on Friday afternoon. Quavo spoke at the funeral along with his cousin Offset as both rappers were seen together for the first time in months after it was speculated that the Migos had split.

This is also the first public appearance of Quavo since Takeoff’s shooting. He was in the parking lot at 810 Billiards and Bowling in Houston, Texas, on November 1 when the rapper was shot in the head and killed after an alleged dice game argument.

While on stage with Offset, a little girl, and another woman, Quavo became emotional as he spoke about growing up with Takeoff, whose real name is Kirshnik Khari Ball.

“You are always with me and we did everything together. Since we was kids you been by my side looking up at me with them eyes same eyes you got as my sister, waiting on me to make the next move and you followed up right behind me. You always made sure I did it first so you can do it right with me,” Quavo said.

“You never competed with me, we was always on the same team cause you always hated playing against me because I always played too hard or too rough. Now I can hear momma saying ‘not too hard son’… remember our first dream was to be a tag team in WWE,” he added.

Late Migos rapper Takeoff

The rapper’s funeral was held at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta and saw close family and friends, including fans being able to attend the funeral. It appears that the funeral had a no-phones rule, but still, some videos were shared on Twitter of family members, including Offset, who spoke and became emotional.

Takeoff was raised by his mother, Edna Marshall, who died at the age of 82 in 2019. Marshall, who was Quavo’s sister, also raised Quavo and Offset, who is her nephew, and Takeoff, Quavo’s nephew.

“You’ve changed the culture of music forever,” Offset said in his speech. “You did that Take, you did that for us. That came from Take, the originator, originator, you changed the music.”

Offset also breaks down in the middle of his speech as he hangs his head and wipes his tears. “Lord give us the strength, give us the strength, for family, for everybody…I don’t want to question God but I just don’t get it. And I believe in you Father,” Offset said while Quavo stood beside him.

Takeoff’s friend Drake also broke down in tears as he recited a poem he had written for the rapper. Drake and the Migos members have been good friends, and they also went on a joint tour in 2015.

Drake shared one of his fond moments with the late rapper. “Forever balanced. Whenever he would take his shades off, he had this thing about him that I love. No matter what was going on around us, he was always kinda squinting but like his eyes was always open.”

Artist Chloe Bailey also performed Beyonce’s “Heaven” at the rapper’s funeral.

Among those who publicly reacted to the rapper’s death is his little sister, who spoke about her hopes of spending time with and seeing the rapper in the future, but now that is impossible.

Offset, Cardi B, and Quavo shows unity at an emotional funeral for Takeoff on Friday.

It’s a somber day in hip-hop as Migos rapper Takeoff’s life is honored at his funeral, and many of his fans, friends, and family members pay their final respects to him.

Takeoff was shot and killed on November 1 in Houston, Texas. Houston Police are still to arrest anyone for the rapper’s murder.

On Friday, fans and friends of Takeoff remembered the rapper and some of his family members, including his cousin Offset and his wife Cardi B, were seen getting ready to attend his funeral at State Farm Arena in Atlanta.

In photos shared on Friday morning, Cardi B and Offset are seen heading to their vehicles to the funeral venue. Cardi B is seen wearing a fitted black dress with her hair in a conservative ponytail and wearing minimal makeup. Offset is also dressed in full black and appears to be waiting on his wife. He is seen wearing a black coat and wearing dark glasses and also appears to be smoking.

Before Takeoff’s death, there was speculation that Cardi B and Offset were not on good terms with Takeoff, who along with his uncle Quavo, broke away from the Migos to form a duo. The rappers were last seen together in early 2022, and by July, they were suspected of having broken up.

Cardi and Offset had stopped following both Quavo and Takeoff on social media, and it became apparent that the family members were not on good terms as Offset also launched his solo career while Takeoff and Quavo set out as a duo called “Unc & Phew.”

While neither Cardi nor Offset has spoken on the apparent split of Migos or the reason behind it, shortly after Takeoff’s death, both of them appeared to react.

Offset has changed his DP to Takeoff and later to a photo of all of the Migos members. Fans felt that he was not only mourning his cousin but showing support for Quavo who has been blamed for the shooting that took the life of Takeoff.

Cardi B also liked an article where the Migos members spoke about being family and how important that was for them to work together.

Six renowned dancehall artists are in the running for this year’s Music of Black Origin (MOBO) awards for best Caribbean Music Act. They are Spice, Koffee, Skillibeng, Popcaan, Shenseea, and Sean Paul.

The nominations were announced on Friday in London, and this will be the first year that the category will be called the Best Caribbean Music Act. It was previously known as the Best Reggae Act category, which was the original name given to it back in 1997.

Last year’s winner of the Best Reggae Act category was Shenseea.

This year is special for MOBO as the award show will celebrate its 25th anniversary, and the organizers are hoping to go all out at the OVO Arena in London later this month on November 30.

MOBO’s Founder, Kanya King CBE, has already said that the show will be the biggest celebration ever created and that the hope is that the award show continues to be a beacon for the best talent the UK has to offer.

“MOBO continues to rise and create a cultural and social footprint, it will continue to be an agent for positive change in arts, culture, music, and society as a whole. Via our MOBOLISE career development platform we aim to create meaningful change, opportunities, and equality in the workplace,” she also said on the organization’s website.

This year, another new category will also be introduced. The first ever Best Electronic/Dance Act will see nominees Anz, Eliza Rose, FKA twigs, Jax Jones, Nia Archives, and SHERELLE compete for the award.

A Florida Appeals Court has given the green light to an application by prosecutors for them to seek the death penalty should YNW Melly be convicted of murder.

The rapper is on trial for the murder of two of his associates, and the prosecution has secured a short victory ahead of his murder trial set to start soon. The Appeals Court decision overturned a lower court ruling that favored Melly and had prescribed that prosecutors couldn’t seek capital punishment on a possible conviction because they failed to properly notify him and his lawyers according to state law.

On Wednesday, the District Court of Appeal found that prosecutors did give notice that they might seek death if Melly is convicted.

Melly’s team had first filed for the lower court to make a determination that the prosecution failed to adhere to the rule that defendants facing first-degree murder charges must be told of the possibility of facing execution.

Florida laws require that notice is given 45 days after arraignment if the prosecution plans to seek capital punishment. Melly’s lawyer argues that prosecutors did file a notice of indictment in 2019 within the stipulated timeframe. However, a superseding indictment was later filed, but the prosecution did not again file another notice.

However, the Appeals court ruled that there was no material difference in Melly’s case as to whether the notice he received was effective when he was first indicted.

“We find that the state complied with its statutory obligations when it filed its notice of intent to seek the death penalty within 45 days of arraignment,” presiding Judge Spencer D. Levine said.

“The fact that the state filed a superseding indictment, requiring a second arraignment, does not vitiate the already filed and timely notice of intent. Notice is notice.”

It continued, “Clearly, in the present case, the defendant was noticed and apprised of the state seeking the death penalty in 2019. The defendant has had nearly three years to start the preparation of his defence to the state seeking the death penalty [and] the record contains no evidence that the defendant was prejudiced in any way.”

YNW Melly’s attorney Philip R. Horowitz reportedly said that his team and Melly were disappointed with the position of the appeals court.

YNW Melly is on trial for first-degree murder charges along with co-accused YNW Bortlen. They are accused of shooting and killing their friends Christopher “YNW Juvy” Thomas Jr. and Anthony “YNW Sakchaser” Williams in 2018 and setting up the crime scene as a drive-by shooting.

Melly’s trial has been delayed for months now, and the rapper had been implicated in what police said was a daring plan by him and his cellmate to escape from jail in recent weeks.

His trial has been pushed back twice from April to July and again with the application to the court seeking the death penalty.

In the meantime, Horowitz says that YNW Melly will appeal the decision at a higher court.

The upcoming Family Reunion: Love & Hip Hop Edition has been filmed in Jamaica with two of the islands stars, Spice and Safaree.

The show’s special edition, which is renewed for a third time, brings together all the old cast members and new members as they discuss the season, and some even try to hash out their issues. On Tuesday (November 8), Safaree confirmed that the show was wrapped as he shared an aerial view from the sky. “Another TV show filmed in Jamaica. GOD IS GOOD,” he wrote on Instagram Stories.

Love & Hip Hop also confirmed days ago that the show would be aired on November 28. “Yuh ready fi dis?! #LHHFamReunion is heading to Jamaica. Who are you most excited to see?” the show wrote on Twitter with an accompanying trailer.

The trailer of the upcoming show says that all of the members who started the show will feature along with the present cast. Among those who were seen in the teaser are Tokyo Vanity, Scrapp DeLeon, Teairra Mari, Lil Fizz, Nikki Mudaris, Alexis Skyy, Lyrica Anderson, Chrissy Lampkin, Mariahlynn Phresher & Jen, Amara La Negra, Trick Daddy, Jim Jones, and others.

The show is also drama-filled, with several women fighting, and Spice is seen taking a jug of juice and throwing it on a group of people sitting down.

Love & Hip Hop Atlanta has gone viral in the past few days with scenes of the moment Erica Mena gets the call that her Safaree’s divorce was finalized. Still, she was devastated to learn that while she is the children’s primary custodian, all of their financial responsibility is on her, as Safaree successfully proved in court that Erica was making more money than him.

“Like he doesn’t have to pay nothing of it?” Erica asks in the video.

A day before, Erica shared that Safaree wanted the court to award him joint custody so he could get Erica to pay him child support.

Safaree has not responded to the rumors, although there is a separate claim that he will pay $4,000 and change for child support. That claim has not been verified.
