Gaza Kim Returns With New Music Still Reps Vybz Kartel Movement

Black Immigrant Daily News

The content originally appeared on: Urban Islandz

There’s no taking away the Gaza title from Gaza Kim. The deejay remains committed to the moniker of the empire that was founded by Vybz Kartel, even if she hasn’t been active on the dancehall scene for the last ten years.

Fans of the Gaza Empire would remember just how fast the songstress was coming up back in the 2000s before she was allegedly beaten by other members of the camp. It was a fight that was made very public and eventually led to her pulling back from the genre, but despite the negative connotation, she still believes in the Gaza way of life.

In the years that followed, her popularity declined, and she eventually split ways with the Worl’Boss. Now the once popular artist, whose real name is Kym Hamilton, has returned with a single called “Bubble Up.” Her story is quite inspirational, considering the fact that many believed that she fell off the scene because she had gone into a deep depression following how suddenly her career seemingly ended.

She spoke with the STAR recently and explained that she was not bitter about the past and had come to realize that everything that happened in the past was for a reason and that those dark times made her into the successful woman that she is today.

She even had well wishes for the former Portmore Empire boss, Vybz Kartel, who she added she hoped things would work out for regarding his current incarceration. The “Moving On” artist shared that she was able to focus on herself in 2016 and so was able to free herself of the negativity of her past.

It seems she began to lean on her Christian faith back then as she added that Jesus forgave people who did all sorts of bad things to him, and that inspired her to forgive the wrongs that were done to her.

In April, she signed with Killa Imij Records, and the same label produced her new single. She had praises for her new team as she said they truly believed in her career.

“The Killa Imij team, I must say that they are really interested in my career and I feel comfortable working with them. I have always been recording, but people would always ask ‘So Kim, how mi nah hear yuh?’ But dem a hear mi now. Bubble Up has 500,000 streams on Spotify and my listeners increase as well. I am happy,” she continued.

She was also very thankful to her family and close friends as she highlighted her mother’s unwavering support. She added that her mother always encouraged her and told her that she has an amazing voice that she should share with the world.

Gaza Kim also said that she was honored to still be a part of youth culture and to be a positive influence on the people that she has met.

“I have met so many young people who say ‘Kim I want to be you.’ They see me as a role model and I owe it to all of them to succeed,” she continued.

She’s slowly rising once again in the very competitive genre but is confident her return would be appreciated, especially since she’s already garnered 10,000 monthly listeners on Spotify. The video has also been doing well on YouTube as, since its release in July, it already has over 400,000 views.

NBA YoungBoy Take Shots At Kodak Black For Dissing Never Broke Again Fans

Black Immigrant Daily News

The content originally appeared on: Urban Islandz

NBA YoungBoy didn’t take too likely Kodak Black saying he doesn’t like his Never Broke Again fans.

It looks like yet another beef is brewing in the hip-hop world. This time two very popular artists look set to go at it as NBA YoungBoy has responded and not kindly to Kodak Black’s criticism of his fans. Earlier this month, Kodak Black took to Twitter to share his opinion of YoungBoy Never Broke Again’s music.

While he admitted that he likes the “I Hate Youngboy” rapper’s music, he also said that he found the artist’s fans irritating. In that tweet, he added that he was stating what everyone else was afraid to say and felt like his opinion was the same consensus in the industry.

Youngboy fired back yesterday, August 11, on Instagram, calling out Kodak by saying that anybody who didn’t like his fans was a “pu*sy” in his books. That was the direct shot he took at Kodak, but the rest of the message was mostly a veiled one.

“To be honest I really don’t care about this being my last album,” he wrote. “I finally can say I completed something. I ain’t finish school. I never finish nothing but my smoke… but nah gangster I then shedded tears from the way y’all been doing me but it’s all for the better. tell li Dave and my grandma I completed something and I’m doing fine.”

Strangely enough, a short while after he made the post, his account was removed from Instagram. It’s not yet known if that move was voluntary.

However, it does appear that NBA YoungBoy puts his fans first and is willing to go to war to defend them. The post also made it clear that he doesn’t rock with anyone who puts down his fans. Kodak’s issues started when YoungBoy’s fans began trolling his posts by replying “YB Better.”

The “Tunnel Vision” rapper presented his evidence on Twitter on August 5. At that time, he took umbrage with how the fans were trolling him as he also added that it seemed he couldn’t do anything with Youngboy’s fans saying that their artist was better than him.

At one point, he posted: “N***a Can’t Even Post A Cheeseburger Without They A#s Under A Post Talm Bout ‘YB Post His Burger Better.’ I Love It That’s Kool But The Sh*t B Irritating Af Homie, Y’all Stay On Dat N***a Page Wit Dat Sh*t.”

It seemed to affect his mental health so much that he threatened to delete his Twitter account, but that never materialized. In that disturbing tweet, he also said that he had reached the point where he felt like hurting YB’s fans, even though he promoted his new album in the same post.

It may have been a combination of things that had him in a weird mental space, though, as he also admitted that he was tired of the fame and the pressure that comes with it.

NBA YoungBoy and Kodak Black have never really been good with each other. In 2020, the Florida rapper went as far as to accuse the Baton Rouge rapper of cooperating with Houston police. That was in regards to the case with Floyd Mayweather’s daughter, Iyanna Mayweather, who was arrested for allegedly stabbing Lapattra Lashai Jacobs, who is the mother of YoungBoy’s child.

During that time, he said that Iyana stayed at his place and that she was his wife and even went as far as to say that NBA snitched on him while he was in jail. A lot of that tweet was also directed at NBA in anger.

Knowing how Kodak Black usually operates, there’s probably a strong response coming.

Spice Dishes On Justin Budd Breakup, Says Rasta Too Controlling

Black Immigrant Daily News

The content originally appeared on: Urban Islandz

Spice is finally breaking her silence as she addresses the months-long speculation that she and her director beau, Justin Budd, are no longer together.

Spice has deleted all of the photos and videos of Budd from her Instagram account, and the two appear not to be following each other on Instagram. Spice has also dropped several hints on her account pointing to a split with Justin Budd, but she has not said anything until now.

In a recent video, Spice seemingly addresses the rumors as she confirms that the relationship has ended and passionately shares her reasons.

According to Spice, who first publicly shared her romance with Budd in 2020, she cannot deal with a controlling man. “Me love, if yuh want man fi control yuh, mek you no go deh with him,” Spice says while eating Watermelon on Instagram Live.

“Every minute oonu a talk bout ‘mi miss rasta’… mi wuk too hard fi deh which part me deh me don’t want no man stress, mi nuh no man hold me down, me nuh want no man tell me wha fi do, mi nuh want no man tell me say me can’t dance, me can’t do this, me can’t skin out, mi can’t bruk out, me can’t wear certain clothes, me can’t this, me can’t that,” Spice says.

“Me not doing it,” Spice screams at the camera. “Me very sorry. Take me as I am or leave me the f**k alone, it’s very simple. Me nah make no man stress me out,” Spice says as she breaks out into a line from her latest song, “Clap Clap.”

It seems that Spice was addressing a fan who was asking about Budd. The singer got savage as she said she would send the fan Budd’s number.

“Every minute oonu a ask me this and oonu a ask me that, mi have a choice and me choose oonu, me choose fi perform the same way me always perform, me choose fi be me same self. Me not changing to please nobody,” Spice says as she raises her voice.

The artist also tells the fan that if she misses Rasta, she can go and be with him.

Spice has two children for her baby father, Nicholas Lall. The artist has been single for many years before declaring her love for Justin Budd, whom she met while living in Atlanta and filming for Love and Hip Hop Atlanta, where she is now a regular cast member.

Spice and Budd have been seen enjoying vacations in Mexico and Jamaica together, and she has shared her gratitude for him being in her children’s life.

Budd has not publicly spoken about the relationship, but he still has photos of their couple on his Instagram account, including with her children.

Spice first signaled that there was trouble in paradise last September while promoting her single “Go Down Deh” with Shaggy and Sean Paul on the Wendy Williams show, where she told the host she was single.

Spice & Justin Budd @spiceofficial IG

Spice and Justin Budd later had a fight on Love and Hip Hop Atlanta over the statement. At the time, Spice had revealed that the couple had a falling out. However, it seems that the couple’s relationship had started to go downhill sometime during the show last year. The couple had another fight on the show, this time over Spice’s dancing and performance.

Spice had explained that the American felt her dancing and backing it up on stage was not respected even though it is part of her culture. Her dancing also forms a big part of her stage experience, earning her the coveted title of “Queen of the Stage” due to her energetic performances involving her dancing, splitting, and performing other explicit moves. The dance moves are not considered sexual in Jamaican culture, especially for entertainers.

It seems that the culture shock was too much for the relationship, or maybe there was none, to begin with, as some fans of the show are speculating that the season just ended and the storylines are wrapped, so Spice’s “fake” relationship with Budd need not continue.

Safaree Suing Over Leaked Video With Girlfriend Kimbella Matos

Black Immigrant Daily News

The content originally appeared on: Urban Islandz

Safaree Samuels is threatening to take legal action against an unnamed person for the leaked private video of him and his girlfriend Kimbella Matos.

The videos were leaked on Thursday night and were being sold pay-per-view by a blogger on Patreon. A ten-minute clip has been circulating on Twitter and other sites showing the couple getting in on various occasions. Their identities are visible in the video, with Matos lying on the bed and Safaree standing behind her. There is also a video showing Matos giving Safaree “brains.”

An irate Safaree took to Twitter to warn that he will be taking legal action for the leak.

“I am Taking full legal and criminal action. The person who did that is going to pay. And I am not letting up either,” the Love & Hip Hop artist said.

Safaree is no stranger to leaks, as photos and videos of his private parts have leaked many times before. However, the rising rapper says that he is not taking this latest incident lightly.

“Not letting this 1 slide. This is a cyber crime and I am pressing full charges!” Safaree added.

Safaree has previously been a victim of alleged cybercrime after his nudes went viral, leaving fans speechless at the size of his package. A confident Safaree has, however, turned the negative into a positive as he has a adult toy collaboration from the first leak of his privates.

There are speculations that Erica Mena might be behind the leak, but she has been very quiet on social media as she is busy promoting her Fox’s Tubi movie, The Stepmother.

Months ago, Erica Mena and Matos went at it as they traded accusations, with Mena calling the Instagram model a “Prostitute” and Matos dishing information on Mena, claiming that she was selling herself to rich ball players.

Kimbella Matos responded to the tweet while accusing Erica of being obsessed with her and calling her uneducated.

Erica Mena and Safaree announced they were officially divorced in March 2022 after being married for less than three years. The pair met on the cast of Love and Hip Hop franchise and got married in October 2019. However, their relationship was characterized by various problems after the birth of their first child. The former couple shares two children Legend, 1, and Majesty Safire, 2.

Mena has often accused Safaree of being a deadbeat father and had shared that Safaree was out partying for his birthday while she gave birth to their son. He also didn’t see the baby, who had to be hospitalized in NICU after birth, until days later. Safaree, on the other hand, has accused Mena of being difficult to deal with and keeping him from his children.

Bounty Killer Met 9-Y-O Actress Jazmin Headley For First Time, Record Collab

Black Immigrant Daily News

The content originally appeared on: Urban Islandz

Bounty Killer is showing us how versatile he is as an artist as he recently revealed that he collaborated with child starlet Jazmin Headley.

The artist revealed that he and Headley recently met for the first time in Kingston as they promoted their new song “Sing Sing.” She also donated to the dancehall legend’s Bounty Killer Foundation.

Jazmin Headley is a Canadian actress and singer who is nine years old. Her track with Bounty Killer is the lead single from her first EP. Headley’s parents are Jamaicans, and she shares the same affinity for Jamaican music.

In an interview with the Jamaica Star, Headley spoke about the upcoming track. “The song is about singing and dancing, and that’s what Rodney does. As a nine-year-old, it’s important to send a message through my music and he feels the same way,” she said.

Headley also paid tribute to Bounty Killer’s late mother, Miss Ivy, as she gave the Jamaican iconic dancehall deejay a floral arrangement in memory of his mother, who passed away 10 years ago but whom he has constantly spoken about the impact she had on his life. The artist became visibly emotional at the tribute.

“From my mother passed not many have done anything like this to remember her. She always touches my heart. ‘Jazz’ brings a lot of joy. This is the only child I would say I wish she was my child. I don’t wish my child was like her but that she was actually my child. She is a gem.”

According to Bounty Killer, Headley donated to his foundation long before they even met.

“It was manager, Bankey, who was the one to bring my attention to this child, who said that on her ninth birthday, she wanted to donate nine barrels to the foundation,” Bounty Killer said. “I was like that a nine-year-old wants to do something this big. He informed me of who she was, that she works and bought the things, and not that somebody gave them to her. It was very interesting,” an impressed Bounty Killer said.

Meanwhile, Bounty says that the pair initially collaborated on charitable ventures before he learned that she had other talents.

“When I met her online, and the more we start to talk, I picked her mind. I come to realise she is smart and clever and just how involved she is in giving back. That was over a year ago. Then I found out she was also a singer. When I found out the talent she have and just see her beautiful soul, I wanted to do all the things I can to support her,” Bounty Killer shared.

“I expect good things for a track like this. With a little child singing on a song, singing that well and she singing a good topic, to ‘sing, sing, sing’ and ‘let’s party’, it should be good. Jazz is on a good path and she is very established, though I only see snippets posted of her on the internet, I know she has a little fan base building,” the artist posted.

In the meantime, Bounty Killer says he is exploring the talent development of Headley, who goes by the name of ‘Jazzy,’ and wants to sign her to his Alliance music group.

“We aren’t letting her go, she is going to be a big part of my organisation, maybe we even sign her. We will be doing more with Jazz because she is going to take the world by storm,” he said.

Quada Says Popcaan Not Paying His Unruly Crew Despite Making Millions

Black Immigrant Daily News

The content originally appeared on: Urban Islandz

Dancehall artiste Quada had much to say after learning that Popcaan made JM$22 million at his recent performance at Kingston Music Fest in Toronto, Canada, last weekend.

Quada was once part of Popcaan’s Unruly crew, and the two have collaborated on many songs like “Unruly Camp,” “Unruly State,” and “We don’t play/ Unruly Camp,” among others.

It seems that all is not well with the two artists as Quada threw shots at Popcaan after it was revealed by a Kingston Music Fest promoter that Popcaan was paid JM$22 million for a performance that lasted less than an hour on stage.

The Kingston Fest promoter Dwayne Hines was angry at Popcaan, who had bashed the event promoters for the shoddy organization of the event that led to persons being injured and the event experience being described as one of the worst in the city.

On Thursday, Quada dropped two Instagram Stories seemingly directed at Popcaan as he called out the artist for earning a high income but being a miser when it was time to pay his artists.

“A 1 artiste dis weh nah run back a nuh boy or gal!!! and nuh man cya tell me wah fi do or how fi do it!!!! Me a my own Don and own boss. Who nuh like that suck yuh muma till she dry,” the artist said.

“unuh cya tek back me glory weh father god set fi me. Nah stop shame unuh wid some good music and success,” the artist wrote on Instagram.

While the first story was ambiguous, the second story, however, went straight to the point.

“How tf a n****a can make 22M for a show and not even woulda share 100k with him crew weh a support him?” Quada wrote in an Instagram Story with laughing emojis.

The recent comments by Quada did not hint at the amicable parting he claimed occurred when he confirmed their split last year.

Last year, Quada confirmed that he is pursuing music independently through his music label Wellbad Entertainment and there is no bad blood with Popcaan. He said in an interview that he has always got love and respect for Popcaan and the rest of the Unruly outfit, but he is now focused on taking his career to the next level on his own.

This is not the first time Popcaan’s treatment of his artists and colleagues has come under scrutiny. In 2020, Urban Islandz reported on the beef between Popcaan, NotNice, and Jah Vinci. NotNice had shared that the men had been booked for a show in 2018 where NotNice was Popcaan’s DJ. However, the iconic producer claimed that he never got paid for the gig and ended up having to fund his own expenses for the entire month-long trip. NotNice also spoke about how the sleeping arrangements were terrible, with him having to share a chair with another individual while Popcaan had a separate room all to himself.

That later led to the breakdown in the relationship between Popcaan and NotNice, who stopped producing records for Popcaan. NotNice had claimed that out of the 5 shows they worked, three were sold out, so money was not an issue when the time came to pay them.

As for Quada being part of that deal, NotNice had accused Popcaan of being shady in the way he treated Quada, including blocking the artist’s song “Celebration,” featuring Jah Vinci voiced on NotNice’s track.

At the time, Quada had defended Popcaan and had refused to speak freely about the Unruly Boss. Now that he is no longer signed to Popcaan’s label, the artiste seems ready to speak his mind.

Black Immigrant Daily News

Carl Crawford, the CEO of 1501 Certified Entertainment, is denying that the label is sabotaging Megan Thee Stallion’s latest album release, Traumazine, set for August 12.

On Thursday, Megan Thee Stallion revealed that she was preparing to release her upcoming album, which features Pooh Shiesty, Latto, Future, Key Glock, Jhené Aiko, and other artists. However, the rapper shared her frustration with her label as she alleged that the label was responsible for the leaks on her album.

“Y’all know I always have problems with dropping my music under this label,” she tweeted to her 7.6 million followers.

She also shared that her songs and cover art were leaked. “From my cover art, pieces of my track list and me even hearing part of a song I haven’t dropped yet leaking (and we ALL know who the only ppl who had access to all these PRIVATE links are…) I might as well… lol,” she wrote on Twitter.

“I can’t catch a break my label hate me and my shit always leak,” she wrote. “At this point invite the hotties to the studio and shoots,” she said in another tweet.

However, on Thursday afternoon, Crawford claimed that Megan was lying and “using this as her marketing strategy to promote the album.”

“Wow. By the way what leaks? Have y’all seen or heard any leaks?” Crawford asked on his Instagram Stories.

Crawford also attacked Megan’s manager, T. Farris, who was working along with Megan.

“But I guess I’ll do my part to help the struggling sells,” he said in another Story.

Megan also responded to Crawford as she taunted him about being upset about the last album.

“Carl be so mf mad. Ahhhh haaaa that’s why you can’t make no more money off me,” Megan Tweeted.

This album would be the last project Megan is required to produce under her contract with 1501. She is presently suing the label for monies owed to her.

“All of a sudden talking bout let me help promote… b***h where you been with the MONEY to promote for the last few YEARS how tf a dumb a$$ IG story gone help me,” Megan said laughing.

“Talking bout using this for marketing HA I need MONEY for marketing… THE MONEY YALL TOLD ME TO PUT UP cause y’all wasn’t gone do it. Not Instagram rants from a fake s** “CEO”, Megan wrote with laughing emojis.

Papa San Delivers ‘Life Lessons’

Black Immigrant Daily News

News Americas, NEW YORK, NY, Fri. Aug. 12, 2022: Veteran performing artist Papa San delivers his new anticipated album ‘Life Lessons’ with hit-filled songs that accentuate messaging that praises God, balanced with sonics that seamlessly blend with Trap-Dancehall, Dancehall, and Reggae.

As a trailblazer in music, Papa San is known to push the boundaries in music. Taking Gospel to new levels, he acquired international success and a hearty signature sound that labeled him as a visionary in Reggae music while being anchored adamantly in Kingdom building. ‘Life Lessons’ furthers his accomplishments for its appeal to Gen Z Gospel music listeners while appealing to the tastes of mature listeners too.

Track 1, “Story” is a rapid freestyle that juxtaposes two stories that revolve around the choice each person has in life: a life with God or the hardships without him. Track 2, “Love About You” is a melodic ode to the new life one lives when they welcome God as their center. Track 5 “None Like You” is a hardcore pulsating Dancehall beat that marches listeners to the alter. Track 6, “Take It All Jesus” is an adult contemporary themed one-drop track that explains what happens when you give all your burdens to Jesus.

With a career spanning over twenty years, Papa San has emerged to the forefront in music and ministry as a leader and an innovator continuing to push the envelope with enthralling rhythmic Dancehall music immersed in the Word. This evolution is reflected in his continual presentation of poignant lyrics and his dedication to the Gospel. “It took me a while to get here, to evolve into the Christian I am now,” he states. “I know who I am and who I represent. I represent the Father; I am His son.” Tracks “Risky” and “Real” help to accentuate this thought.

Papa San’s music is a representation of a life fueled by a musical pallet that was cultivated by growing up in an audible atmosphere of Bob Marley and Dennis Brown, infused with the American pop and soul sounds of Donna Summer and Nat King Cole, interlocked with the innovative contemporary urban sounds of today. His story is one of being raised by his grandmother and taught the doctrines of the Rastafarian religion and witnessing violence that took the life of two of his brothers. His story is about experiencing the conviction of his heart, growing into a relationship with the savior Jesus Christ, and conveying his love and faith through an entertaining yet life-changing medium we call music.

T.I. Says He’s Humbled By Outstanding Citizen Honor In Georgia

Black Immigrant Daily News

The content originally appeared on: Urban Islandz

T.I. has been honored by his native state Georgia for his outstanding community service. Yesterday, August 10, the rapper was presented with an Outstanding Georgia Citizen Award by Rep. Debra Bazemore (D-GA) at the Georgia State Capitol in Atlanta.

T.I.’s wife of over ten years, Tameka ‘Tiny’ Harris, along with his sons Domani and Messiah, were also present at the special ceremony showing their support as the rapper received the accolade for his numerous philanthropic efforts.

“In the grand scheme of things, we are only here on Earth in this life for a short period of time, and once we leave, people won’t remember the clothes we wore or the things we have. We will only be remembered by what we meant to our family, our children and what we were able to do for others,” T.I said during his acceptance speech.

That was just one of the awards he would be honored with on the day as the “Live Your Life” rapper also received the Volunteer’s Achievement Lifetime Award. That award was given to him by the Global International Alliance on behalf of President Joe Biden.

The award was granted in recognition of the rapper’s stellar effort of 4,000 hours of community service to the United States.

Following the ceremony, the rapper took to Instagram to express his gratitude for receiving the various accolades. He shared that he spent years grinding and fighting to do his best for his community, and he also admitted that he often felt no one cared, noticed, or appreciated his efforts, intentions, or sacrifices.

Receiving the recognition showed him that he is indeed blessed to have his efforts seen, he added. He also thanked President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris for taking the time to recognize his tireless efforts.

In another post, he added, “Thank God for @rep.debrabazemore63 @ambassadorpeterson @joebiden @vp & everyone else who had a hand in making this possible.”

That post attracted the attention of his colleagues in the industry, including 2 Chainz, Ludacris, and Rapsody, who all posted positive comments congratulating Tip on getting some deserved recognition.

The rapper is well known for taking an active role in his community and trying to help youth with proper guidance. He’s also been outspoken about the issues facing his community, especially as it pertains to gun violence.

Last year, he purchased his old neighborhood in Bankhead and announced that he planned to build a new affordable housing development with 143 units, a community garden, a community center, and a greenhouse.

Through organizations like Harris Community Works and For the Love of Our Fathers, he continues to give back in the hope that those who need help can receive it in a safe environment.
