Shaggy Doubtful About Future Shaggy & Friends Show Over Character Attacks

Black Immigrant Daily News

Shaggy and Friends charity concert might go extinct thanks to unfounded attacks on the dancehall legend.

Shaggy is responding to a newspaper report claiming that he has not turned over the JM$100 million raised from the last staging of his Shaggy and Friends benefit concert in 2018. This is not the first time that the Jamaican artist has been forced to clear the air. But a visibly annoyed Shaggy assured donors that the funds will be used for the intended purpose.

According to a local newspaper report on Monday, Health Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton shared his concerns that five years later, the funds have not flowed to the children of the Bustamante Children’s Hospital, the beneficiary of the funds raised by the Shaggy Make A Difference Foundation. In a new interview with the Observer, the “Angel” deejay says they are now in the planning phase to refurbish and expand portions of the hospital to accommodate more kids and give better care.

“We have to get a budget together, drawings done, contractors,” he said while noting that it takes time to get the best team in place for the job. “We have to get all of them in place first and get the best.”

Shaggy also noted that part of the delay was the global pandemic which lasted the better part of two years or more. Coupled that with other roadblocks in getting land space secured for the original plan to build a new facility. In responding to the recent newspaper headline, the artist makes it clear that he and his team have never operated under the intention that they would simply hand over funds they raised. He stated that funds have always been used to buy equipment and refurbish the hospital.

In addressing the burning question of whether or not he will host another staging of his benefit concert, Shaggy says it remains a matter to be discussed with his partners, who are disgusted by the attacks.

“In my heart of hearts I would love to because you have to put the children first and we saw the good that it did,” he said. “It is not a conversation for myself, it is a conversation that involves these people (partners of Shaggy and Friends). The preliminary conversation I have had with them, they are a little gutted and disgusted by the situation.”

Shaggy ended by saying that perhaps time will change things down the road, but when that time comes, he and his team will make the decision.

Drake’s career is indeed enjoying its greatest era as he has been named the highest-selling artist according to figures posted by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

The history-making feat puts Drake’s decade-and-a-half career at a pinnacle that very few artists have achieved. This means that he has now surpassed rapper Eminem, who previously held the title of the highest-selling singles artist by the RIAA.

The RIAA updated Drake’s certified singles holding to reflect ten new plaques added for singles sold. Drake’s final is now 184 million singles sold over the course of his career.

The songs which have contributed to Drake’s success include his recent diamond certifications for “Hotline Bling” and “One Dance.” Correspondingly, Drake inches past Eminen, who has 166 million units sold. Back in March of this year, the RIAA announced Eminem as the holder of the title.

In the meantime, Drake was recently revealed to be the most streamed artist on Spotify this year in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom, while he came second to Bad Bunny, who was the overall highest streaming artist in the world.

Along with the new diamond certifications, Drake now has five career diamond singles which are “God’s Plan,” “SICKO MODE” with Travis Scott, and “Life Is Good” with Future adding to “Hotline Bling” and “One Dance.”

Drake’s highest-selling song, “God’s Plan,” from his album ‘Scorpion’ was certified 15x-platinum by the RIAA and now puts him in the running for the top RIAA-certified single, which is currently 17x platinum-selling song “Sunflower” by Post Malone and Swae Lee and “Old Town Road” by Lil Nas X.

As for Drake’s successful year, Billboard’s year-end updates also revealed that the Canadian rapper now has a tie for the most No. 1 songs on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart with Jay-Z. His latest project, Her Loss, which saw almost all of the album charting on the Top 10, is responsible for the latest achievement.

Last week, the artist seemingly reacted to the latest milestones of his career, noting that it was loads of hard work and self-belief.

“I’m a loooong way from where I came from,” Drake wrote on Instagram. “Been such a long road you woulda thought I forgot where I came from. Cardi B says that she had to get her illegal butt shots removed, and she is now telling fans not to get the dangerous or illegal procedure done.

While on Instagram Live, Cardi B revealed for the first time that she had illegal butt shots done years ago in a basement in the Bronx for $800. On Wednesday’s Instagram Live, she revealed that she had the procedure done because she was too skinny for a fat transfer procedure and decided to get biopolymers put in her glutes to give her volume and the look she wanted.

“In August, I got surgery and I removed 95% of my [biopolymers] … if you don’t know what it is, it’s a$$ shots. It was a really crazy process,” the mother of two revealed.

The rapper also told her fans not to get the procedure because she is too young. “All I’m going to say is that if you’re young — if you’re 19, 20, 21 — and sometimes you’re too skinny, and you be like, ‘Oh my god, I don’t have enough fat to put in my a$$,’ so you result to a– shots, DON’T!” she insisted.

“When it comes to BBLs [Brazilian butt lifts], if y’all want advice from me, before you get your BBL done, you have to make sure your blood levels are all right,” she continued.

Cardi B added that everyone should consult their doctors before undergoing BBL surgeries and if they have diabetes they should not do it. The Bronx rapper has never been shy about her surgeries. Earlier this year she publicly acknowledged that she did a nose job. At the time, she also vowed to not do anymore surgeries.

Black Immigrant Daily News

Starr Dawkins got some things off her chest about her rumored relationship with dancehall star Jahshii.

The Jamaican American artist was seen recently getting steamy with rising star Jahshii on social media leading to fans concluding that they are dating. However, Dawkins says that she and the artist’s chemistry is nothing more than acting for the screen and for their recent track “4Life,” which was released recently.

Last week, Starr Dawkins went viral after claiming that her ex-boyfriend Lincoln 3Dot was unknowingly her cousin, and they were sexually involved for years before they found out. She has recently been working on a music career and recently collaborated with Jahshii.

Videos and photos shared online showed the two artists gyrating and rubbing on each other, with Jahshii also grabbing her butt at one point. The artists also wore matching Dior outfits, but their convincing energy led fans to assume they were together.

In an interview on The Fix, Starr said nothing happened to Jahshii and that he was such a gentleman she planned to gift him a Rolex for her feature.

Starr Dawkins/Instagram

“He did charge for the feature, he did not act like we needed to have sex in order to give me the song, the video was last minute and he was so cooperative, his hair was not done and because he did not want to be late and wants us to get the shots, he said f**k it I’ll be on time for you,” Starr said as she revealed that her shoot ended at 3 am and Jahshii left to get on a flight at 5 am for a show abroad.

The Cookie Wash owner revealed that she has worked with other producers and artists whom she paid for songs that have not cleared.

“Jahshii to me is a real G. I love Jahshii. Jahshii can do no wrong. If y’all got a problem with Jahshii, y’all got a problem with me,” she added.

Starr also clarified that her song with Masicka did not work out as planned, but she said that she wasn’t dissing Masicka and that the artist had not made any sexual advances to her as she cleared up speculations raised by the show’s hosts.

In the meantime, Starr Dawkins also addressed speculations online that the Spanish town deejay performed oral on her. The artist/entrepreneur revealed that in her conversations with the “Bigger Picture” deejay, the artist said that he was not a fan or nor does he perform oral sex.

For the ladies, Starr also confirmed that deejay’s “rifle” was huge as she explained that Jahshii’s size eliminated him as a prospect in his life. Since the rumors started about Jahshii and Starr Dawkins the “Cream of the Crop” artist has not confirmed or denied the link.
