It doesn’t take much to appreciate a Queen as Kenneth Petty is proving. The husband of Nicki Minaj ensured that the Queens rapper was celebrated after her historical debut atop the Billboard Hot 100 chart on Monday (August 22) with her new song “Super Freaky Girl.”

Nicki Minaj shared a sweet video of the gesture along with her son whom she calls Papa Bear enjoying the pink balloons. “Zoo was trying to surprise me with this for hours but I kept on having to do just one last thing b4 leaving out,” the rapper captioned a video showing giant pink balloons.

“By the time I came out it was dark outside but it actually looked so beautiful in the dark… Gangst, B’z, Skarr thx for helping him,” the rapper added. She also shared that her husband gifted her roses and her label also came through.

“The were perfection too. My Republic family with these gorgeous flowers… And then there’s the star of the show. mama loves you papa bear. You make every single moment worth it,” the rapper added.

Nicki Minaj scored a historic title on Monday as the only solo rap artist to have debuted at No. 1 on the Hot 100 chart in this century. The track sold more than 100,000 tracks in under a week after release and earned the additional title as Minaj’s only solo track released this year.

The Hot 100 breakdown showed that the track came out on top with 256 points and 217,000 units. The song has 20.4 million streams and 71,000 sales, along with 41 million airplays. The history-making record also had the biggest solo debut of all time on global and US Spotify with 3M and 1.5M streams, respectively, as it replaced Doja Cat’s “Ain’t Sh*t,” which previously held the record.

“Super Freaky Girl” samples Rick James’ 1981 hit “Super Freak.”

This year has been a career-bending one for Minaj as she achieved many more milestones. Noteworthy is her surpassing 26 million billion streams on Spotify across all credits to become the first female rapper to achieve the milestone. She is also set to be honored with the 2022 Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at MTV’s VMAs this year.

Nicki Minaj is also gearing up for the release of her six-part documentary titled, Nicki.

Tattoo Artist Money Mike Respond To Drake Clowning His Father’s Tattoo

Black Immigrant Daily News

The content originally appeared on: Urban Islandz

Tattoo artist Money Mike responds to Drake laughing at his work.

The OVO rapper’s recent remarks about his father’s tattoo have not gone over well with the tattoo artist Money Mike. To say that he’s upset at the level of criticism he’s received is an understatement. Even though Drake’s dad, Dennis Graham, got the tattoo of the “God’s Plan” rapper’s face on his arm about five years ago, Drake poked fun at it almost instantly and made it meme gold.

“[Dennis Graham] I was just sitting here thinking why you do me like this we family,” Drizzy wrote on IG while sharing a photo of the tattoo. He accompanied the post with several laughing emojis to emphasize what he thought about it.

Fans immediately latched on to the joke with comments like, “They said ‘Thank me later’ and Zoolander approves the use of blue steel and Magnum.” Additionally, since he made the post on August 8, it’s been liked over 470,000 times.

Bowen is visibly annoyed by the wrong type of publicity the post has brought and also used Instagram to get his feelings out there.

“That one time I tattooed Drakes portrait on his pops….” part of the post read, but it’s the hashtags that he used really showed how he felt about the negative attention. They included calling the Toronto rapper a b*tch a*s and an ungrateful piece of sh*t.

Some of Mike’s fans posted comments supporting his response to Drake, saying it’s not the tattoo that looks bad.

“Ok so I’ve looked at this idk how many times lol… The Tatt isn’t bad at all pops just picked a bad picture or Bro Drake too the tinybop lips poked out pictures dad wanted that js the tatt isn’t bad at all lines are clean etc,” one fan noted.

Though other fans commented that Mike was probably looking for some social media clout now that Drake had weighed in on the tattoo, most fans agree that it seems Drake was simply having a light moment with his dad and didn’t mean to drag Money Mike intentionally.

In 2018, Dennis called on the services of tattoo artist Money Mike, whose real name is Micheal Bowman, to create the full headshot of Drizzy on his right arm. In the post Money Mike recently made, he also has a short clip showing just how his work looked when finished.

At the time, he was elated to be given the honor as he made known on his website. “Had the honor and privilege of tattooing @champagnepapi fathers portrait on the man himself @therealdennisg.Thank you again Dennis for the hospitality and for letting me do this for ya. CHUUUCH,” he wrote at the time.

According to TMZ, Dennis Graham met Mike at his birthday party and told him that he wanted a tattoo of his son, which he hoped would match Drake getting Dennis’ portrait tattooed on his arm in 2014.

Have you seen the tattoo as yet? Do you think it looks like Drake? Be sure to let us know where you stand on this one.

Shenseea and Skillibeng Flexes Cash And Lamborghini In “Rain” Video

Black Immigrant Daily News

The content originally appeared on: Urban Islandz

Shenseea and Skillibeng dropped the visuals for their new collaboration, “Rain,” on Monday as Shenseea showed off her rapping skills in the new track.

The two artists have grown closer professionally over the last few months as both pursue parallel careers in the hip-hop space. Just months before, both Shenseea and Skillibeng were budding artists in Jamaica, but their dedication to the craft has paid off as they float along together in “Rain.”

The track was released on July 29, and Shenseea announced on Monday, August 22, 2022, that the visual was ready. In a snippet shared on her Instagram account, Shenseea embodies fire in a teaser for the song.

“When mi silent, mi do damages, Can’t get long, cause dem affi watch the pitch, man wi kill fi me cau dem know mi nah go snitch,” Shenseea raps in the teaser showing her in an orange bodysuit with fire make eye make-up with Skillibeng in one scene with her.

Shenseea had previously indicated that she would be deejaying/ rapping on the track in a different teaser shared weeks ago. While the beat for the track is hip hop driven, the track and lyrics keep true to authentic to dancehall as Shenseea spits over the riddim.

In another teaser, Shenseea gets bold with her lyrics as she stakes her claim. “I’m a rich b**ch, not a simple b**ch, Swipe mi own card and check mi wish list, See, I might scam a n***a, I’m ambitious, but I don’t sell pu**y God’s my witness, Nah beef wid a b**ch about a d**k. Too much mon ah road mi can pick, This gyal love n***as who trick But yute?” she asked in another verse she teased in late July.

The snippet was well-received, with her manager Dizzycleanface showing support as well as many fans, including Winnie Harlow and her Shen Yeng, including Skillibeng’s E-Syde fans. “Fully eastsyde di thing deh,” one Skillibeng fa wrote. The comment section was inundated with fire emojis and heart eyes.

This is Shenseea and Skillibeng’s first track together after what appeared to be beef between the two artists. Fans had previously speculated that the two Jamaicans were not on good terms after Skillibeng had name-dropped Shenseea in one of his tracks where she referenced her “Lick” collaboration in his song “Love Handles.”

“Mi wi dead fi yuh, yuh nuh have ten man a touch yuh one time like Shenseea,” Skillibeng had rapped, but all seemed well with the two since then.

Skillibeng had also withdrawn the song and amended the lyrics shortly after its release. The deejay excluded Shenseea’s name from the track after fans began speculating that there was bad blood between the two.

Shenseea Reminds Us Beenie Man & Bounty Killer Had Greatest Verzuz Of All Time

Black Immigrant Daily News

The content originally appeared on: Urban Islandz

Shenseea might be slightly biased when she named Beenie Man and Bounty Killer the best Verzuz of all time.

The hit-for-hit live show might be going through some legal troubles right now with Swizz Beatz and Timbaland suing Triller for $28 million, but we can’t forget the massive culture shift Verzuz brought us in the height of the pandemic when no one was performing live, and everyone was at home.

In what started as a live clash on Instagram, usually between two artistes of the same genre and era, Verzuz has grown into a whole movement. Beenie Man and Bounty Killer were a major part of the catalyst that saw Verzuz becoming a household name and a multimillion-dollar show business. Co-founders Swizz Beatz and Timbaland previously admitted that the two dancehall legends set the tone and helped make the show more attractive for other legends in music to make appearances.

Like most of us who are avid fans of dancehall music and these two greats, Shenseea didn’t hesitate to remind her fans of the historic showdown. “Beenie Man and Bounty Killer had the best Verzuz Battle of all time,” she tweeted over the weekend.

Shenseea/Twitter

Hardly anyone disagreed with Shenseea’s statement, and in case you have doubts, just take a peek at the reactions to her tweet. “I’ve watched this bout 10 times and it’s not even close this clash was just for the culture and beyond if you know you know,” one fan wrote.

Some fans are now calling for another round of Beenie and Bounty or perhaps a Sean Paul and Shaggy Verzuz. Sean Paul had previously expressed his disinterest in a Verzuz, saying he is not a fan of clash culture. Although he appears to have a change of heart about Verzuz, he has yet to seal a deal to go up against Shaggy. Still, he recently revealed that he and the dancehall legend spoke about it.

Shenseea is currently working on her sophomore album set for release sometime next year. Meanwhile, her debut project Alpha has been getting a lot of airplay, making her among the top streaming Jamaican artists on Spotify. Her new project has yet to get a title, but she promised it will be something completely different from what we used to be hearing from her.

Perhaps Shenseea herself will consider a Verzuz challenge of her own. The big question is, who would she go up against?

Blueface Confirms Chrisean Rock Was Arrested For Beating Him Up

Black Immigrant Daily News

The content originally appeared on: Urban Islandz

Chrisean Rock and Blueface’s up-and-down relationship has taken another turn resulting in her arrest on Sunday night. Videos shared online show Rock on the ground for the second time this week as police arrest her.

Sunday night’s incident stems from another fight with Blueface, but this time, it’s clear that Chrisean Rock is the problem as she socks Blue in the face. A video showed the couple in a lounge setting when Blueface approaches her, but Rock punches him in the face instead.

The incident is said to have occurred at an Arizona club with the couple and others seen earlier in the day together at the Cookout Day party where they hosted the event, but it seems that things soured within hours between the two.

One video shared by a blog showed the moment the incident occurred.

“Why Blueface beating Chrisean ass like that?” someone is heard saying at the start of the clip. The couple is then seen arguing before Rock appears to step up onto something to punch Blueface. She hits him at least two times.

This is the second time Rock has been arrested this week, as a video from Zeus’ Baddies South show in which she appears showed footage of her being arrested by deputies and Bounty Hunters. They were tailing the show after Rock failed to show up for court in an ongoing case.

Chrisean Rock is facing multiple charges for breaking into Blueface’s house and later stealing his car and selling crack cocaine.

In the meantime, Blueface didn’t seem hurt too severely, but in a surprising twist, the rapper asked for her to be freed.

“Free Rock,” he added. “We ain’t gonna ever make the same mistake twice,” he said before adding, “She hit me this time.”

When asked about her whereabouts, Blueface said that security and police arrested her. “What can I do?” he asked. He also showed his face to the camera. “She hit me with a banger,” he said. “I ain’t even do nothing. She be all right. Free Rock,” ended the video.

Blueface and Chrisean recently disclosed that they took their relationship to the next level as Blue asked her to officially be his girlfriend last week. This was just days after the two had a public brawl but appeared to make up after.

On Friday, Blueface shared a video of the couple in the aftermath of another fight. This time he had managed to grab a tuft of hair from the back of her head and pulled it out completely from the root. The rapper showed off Rock’s bald spot and noted that they were fighting over her running away with his phone.

Despite concerns raised about his toxic relationship with Chrisean, the couple on Saturday appeared to be in good spirits as Blue gifted her a new diamond necklace and a “buss down” watch. It is alleged that Chrisean has signed away her Zeus checks to Blueface. The rapper has not addressed the claim, but Rock has previously said she wouldn’t leave Blueface ever.

In the meantime, the Hollywood fight is still being investigated by police, but no charges have been laid.

Nicki was born in Trinidad and Tobago before immigrating to the United States with her parents at age five. She started rapping, singing, and acting at a young age, but her big break in music would come just over a decade ago when Lil Wayne saw a DVD of her rapping and offered her a deal with Young Money/Cash Money.

To date she is one of the top selling artists in the world with over 100 Billboard Hot 100 entries, making her the first female artist in history to achieve triple digits chart entries.

The Game Explains Why He Refused To Pay NBA YoungBoy $200K For Verse

Black Immigrant Daily News

The content originally appeared on: Urban Islandz

The Game says he refused to pay YoungBoy Never Broke Again $200K for a verse on his new album.

The Baton Rouge rapper was originally featured on The Game’s latest album, Drillmatic, but the multi-platinum selling artist’s verse was removed because the Los Angeles rapper did not want to pay the enormous fee for the feature.

The Game is an established artist, but he is not as popular in the present time compared to NBA YoungBoy’s selling point, which has hundreds of RIAA certified Gold and Platinum records, and he is also the second most streamed artist for 2022 with four billion and counting streams behind Drake.

In a statement on Instagram, the Documentary rapper said, “I ain’t never paid for a verse in my life n***a, 200k for a 16 [crying laughing emojis] never & a day blood.”

The Game/Instagram

The Game’s manager, Wack 100, revealed on Friday that NBA YoungBoy’s feature was too high for the rapper, and he was taken off of the album.

NBA YoungBoy was initially announced to be on Game’s 10th studio album Drillmatic: Heart vs Mind on the track “O.P.P.” ‘The Last Slimeto’ rapper was conspicuously absent from the album after its release, and the track “O.P.P” was removed completely.

On Clubhouse, Wack 100 disclosed the reason for the rapper being axed was the feature price.

“Sometimes when it comes down to a situation that I had to make an executive decision about. In YoungBoy’s defense, YoungBoy charges n*****s 300,000 a verse. That’s what he charge. He gave us a hell of deal [150K]. But that situation would have cut into marketing overall,” YoungBoy said.

He added that there were no hard feelings towards YoungBoy as the decision was purely business.

“So I had to make the executive decision to pay the tab he sent me, which was a respectable, great tab. It was love. But that tab would have cut into that, that and that … nothing against YoungBoy, he didn’t disrespect us.”

Wack 100 also disclosed that there were other decisions he had to make to stick to the marketing budget for the project, especially as ten songs and six samples were on the project.

Along with “O.P.P,” the Game also lost out on having Nipsey Hussle on the track “World Tours” after the late rapper’s estate, at the last minute, blocked the Compton rapper from using Nipsey’s verse. The Game reportedly received a cease-and-desist letter from the artist’s estate lawyer.

Meanwhile, ‘Drillmatic’ entered the charts at No. 10 this week and sold 24,959 album equivalent units.

The Game has previously said this is the album of his career and has even boasted this would be the album of the year despite it being the lowest-selling album of his career.

“I can honestly say nothing rap related will be able to stand next to this in 2022,” Game said in a lengthy message posted on his Instagram.

In the meantime, NBA YoungBoy’s ‘The Last Slimeto’ debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart last week. The rapper barely missed out by 400 streams to be beaten by Bad Bunny for the top spot. YoungBoy secured 108,000 album-equivalent unit sales, with 103,500 of that amount coming from streaming-equivalent album units.

R. Kelly: Singer Sparkle Denies Telling 14-Y-O Niece To Rub Singer’s Head

Black Immigrant Daily News

The content originally appeared on: Urban Islandz

Singer Sparkle found herself in the middle of R. Kelly’s federal child pornography trial.

Sparkle, who is reportedly the aunt of the 14-year-old who testified that she was introduced to R. Kelly by her aunt, who encouraged her to ask the singer to be his god-daughter and entice him by rubbing his head and sitting on his lap, is disputing the claim.

Jurors and observers heard the gory details from the 14-year-old, who disclosed that the singer began grooming the 14-year-old victim and began having sex with her at just 15 years old when Kelly was around 30 years old. Kelly is on trial in Chicago for child pornography and charges that he rigged his 2008 trial to secure his freedom by intimidating the witnesses and using money to make the victim disappear.

Prosecutors are pushing for another conviction on those charges to add to R. Kelly being sentenced to 30 years in prison after being found guilty of sex trafficking and racketeering by a New York jury last month.

Meanwhile, Sparkle, real name Stephanie Edwards, has come out in her own defence and claims that her niece has lied on the stand as she did not push her to be involved with Kelly. The woman who is known as an early protégé of Kelly in the 1990s and goes by the stage name Sparkle had previously testified in Kelly’s 2008 trial and the ‘Surviving R. Kelly’ documentary as she had identified her niece as the girl in a porn video that circulated in Chicago. At the time, the niece had denied it was her, although she changed her testimony on the stand on Thursday to confirm that it was her in the video.

On the stand, the woman, who is now 37 and identified as just Jane Doe, shared details of how she met Kelly and how they had sex hundreds of times, and he made videos of their encounters which sometimes also involved other minor girls.

The woman disclosed that her aunt and her parents knew about her being around Kelly. “They would pretty much drop me off and then leave,” she said about her parents and the introduction by her aunt.

Sparkle, however, disputed the witness account after a social media user questioned her about it.

“Are you the aunt who had that child rub R. Kelly’s head? Please say it’s not you,” the user said.

Sparkle replied with a strong denial. “Absolutely NOT! I can’t help the lies told on me & under oath at all… & cause ya momma mad at me cause y’all were FORCED to testify,” she said.

In another video she released, Sparkle claimed that the claim was an absolute “f**king lie.” She added she had indeed introduced Kelly to the victim and her mother and father, but it was not her intention for her to become involved with the singer.

Sparkle is claiming that the victim’s mother was also upset at her, and the victim’s testimony was aimed at getting back at her for going against Kelly. She added that there is a “family feud,” and the victim’s testimony is a clear plan to “try to take her down.”

Sparkle added that she and Kelly were never romantically involved as painted by the victim.

“We were a gospel group just years prior so me thinking about them for them was partly programmed in me…again, Because Robert was given the opportunity to have his own imprint, record label, I introduced my sister, my brother-in-law and my niece to Robert at CRC studios in 1997 in hopes of landing my niece a career in this industry, not a concert as she testified,” Sparkle said.

The woman who previously testified against Kelly in 2008 and was the one who brought the sex tapes to the victim’s parent’s knowledge says that she had the greatest of intentions when she spoke up against Kelly, but her life was made “hell” by the victim’s mother.

Kelly’s trial is ongoing, with the sex tapes of other underaged victims set to be played for jurors.

The prosecution has not responded to the claim.
