Usain Bolt and Vybz Kartel show each other support after their latest collaboration.

The sprint legend was recently regaled for his sprinting prowess in their new track “Touch The Sky” on the producer’s new project album, 9.58 Riddim. Vybz Kartel shared a video of Usain Bolt’s 200m world record as he announced the release of the track.

“[Usain Bolt] #touchthesky Great man! VYBZKARTELVEVO AND ALL DIGITAL PLATFORMS NOW,” he wrote on Instagram.

Vybz Kartel transplanted the chorus from his track to the 200m race, which showed Bolt at one of the greatest moments of his career.

“Dem a seh fi stay ina mi lane so mi touch the sky/Ay bwoy, you no a fi like me, mi nah cry/Ghetto yute mek we touch ‘e sky, mek we touch ‘e sky…Dem a watch di clothes yuh wear, di car yuh buy/D?m nuh wah yuh own nuh house pan ‘e hillside,” Kartel sings in the track.

Usain Bolt also responded in a comment as he also shared his own appreciation of Kartel and how inspired he was by Vybz Kartel, whom he met at a very young age.

Usain Bolt, Drake, and Popcaan

The Olympic sprint champion recalled a moment that he carried with him after meeting Kartel before his illustrious career began.

“I will always remember when I was 18 years old and met you for first time,” Bolt wrote. “I will never forget up a Mona [UWI Campus] when you told me that I would be the baddest athlete to ever forward from Jamaica.”

Kartel also responded, writing, “Where is the Lie!? Hard work & dedication bring you greatness Family. Mi see it longtime Eno, And mi did affi talk! member Real know Real!”

Vybz Kartel’s post was liked and commented on by several artists, including Busta Rhymes and even incarcerated dancehall artist Tommy Lee Sparta.

Bolt’s ‘9.58 Riddim’ is named after his iconic 100-meter world record. The album was released in July through Bolt’s own A-Team Lifestyle label and referenced his 2009 world record for the 100m race with an unbeaten 9.58 seconds.

Other artists on the album include Chronic Law’s “Money Fast, I Waata with “Different,” Quada with “Levels,” Ajji with “Own Don,” and Topmann with “Who Wi.”

Usain Bolt has been a fan of Vybz Kartel for years and always rep the Gaza, which is the name of Kartel’s fan base. In 2015, Usain Bolt caught some heat from some dancehall fans after paying the disc jockey at a party in Kingston to play Kartel songs and stop playing Alkaline. The sprint legend later said he thinks Alkaline is talented, but he reps the Gaza.

Around the same time, Alkaline released his hit single “Champion Boy” a track that some fans think he use to take a subtle jab at Bolt.

Now that Usain Bolt is a producer in the dancehall space, perhaps he and Alkaline can work together. The former athlete has already worked with some big names in dancehall including Christopher Martin, Chronic Law, I Waata, and Quada.

Vybz Kartel says he is in love as he continues to share photos of his girlfriend following a recent prison visit.

The dancehall worl’boss is ensuring that no one has doubts about his new relationship after fans raised questions about a photo he shared where he is seen hugging a new woman. Vybz Kartel debuted his new girlfriend last month. He is seen hugging on to the Caucasian woman against a backdrop that is usually where prisoners take photographs with family members.

The artist has finally shared the woman’s Instagram name and handles and more photos of her proving that she is not a fiction or photoshopping woman but that she exists in real life.

On Thursday night, Vybz Kartel shared a photo of the slender woman who smiled as she took a photo outside of the Horizon Adult Remand Centre where Kartel is presently held as he serves a 35-year to life sentence for the murder of an associate.

The photo is accompanied by a soundtrack that the artist recently released, which seems to be direct lyrics aimed at her.

“God sent you for me, I know God sent you for me, that’s my true religion, am I forgiven, when mi lay down…” he sings in the short Instagram Reel.

The woman also leaves a response for Kartel as she echoes his words in the song.

“God sent you for me too #amazingconcept,” she wrote in the comment section, while Kartel responded, “what an Amazing Concept.”

A day before, Kartel shared a close-up photo of the yet unidentified woman to the same track, “True Religion,” which was recently released. He tagged the woman, and she had a response for him. “A WEEE DAT [heart emojis] OUR SONGG,” she said with heart eye emojis.

It’s unclear Kartel’s love life status as the deejay has been incarcerated since 2011 for the murder of Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams. He is presently awaiting the outcome of his appeal to the Privy Council in England to determine whether he had an unfair trial.

Up to a few years ago, he appeared to still be involved with the mother of his children, Tanesha ‘Shorty’ Johnson, who would be seen in his prison photos. However, over the last two holiday periods, Johnson has not shared any photos of her family.

The two have been having issues since 2016, when he left a message via his Instagram profile that she was not allowed to conduct business on his behalf.

Vybz Kartel later released an album ‘To Tanesha’ in 2020, which sounded like he was recovering from their breakup. Neither has addressed the status of their relationship in a fulsome way.

Vybz Kartel has been linked to the mystery female since 2018 when he was forced to respond to fans criticism.

Black Immigrant Daily News

Spice teases her new video “Tape Measure” leaving dancehall fans shook as the clip surpassed 1 million views within hours on Twitter, prompting a response from Love and Hip Hop star Safaree.

Spice is called the Queen of Dancehall for a reason. She has the ability to send shockwaves through social media because of her risque approach. She didn’t let fans down this time around either, as her 23-second long preview for her single “Tape Measure” left fans buzzing.

The “Go Down Deh” singer has been teasing about the video for her latest track for a few days now and did not fail to deliver. With just the teaser, fans can already guess Spice has something extra raunchy coming. Especially after she is seen in the clip measuring some male models’ eggplants literally.

“Bestie, this is for your eyes only. Tape Measure video drops this Friday,” she tweeted. The video is expected this Friday, August 26. She also uses her flamboyant style in the video, as she can be seen in a green wig and a body suit along with chains on her thighs.

The “Back Way” singer seems to be reclaiming her newfound freedom following her split with Justin Budd, who she recently accused of trying to cramp her style by controlling her.

The model in question in the video is adult entertainer Midnight Erotic, and it’s his package that was being measured.

Over on Instagram, Spice explained that she asked him what number he was on the tape measure, and he dropped his pants.

The Grammy-nominated songstress is giving fans a taste of her sophomore album, Emancipated. The track “Tape Measure” is the second single to be released from the album, which features nine tracks and so far has no collabs.

The first track to drop off of the album was “Clap Clap” on July 22. This album will be her first release since parting ways with VP Records and will be distributed by Stealth Music and United Masters.

The clip has been receiving mixed reactions from fans, with some male fans feeling disgusted by it while the females praised Spice for being innovative and taking risks. It’s very likely that the final video will be less graphic and more fit for YouTube audience. Still, Spice has already achieved her goal of creating a buzz ahead of the release of the music video and her sophomore album, Emancipated, which is due on Friday.

In reacting to the video going viral, Spice wrote, “So I woke up to this. 1 Million Views in 11 hours on Twitter, Now I have the most trending search on Google, Why unu broke the internet again like this Tape measure Video drops tomorrow and EMANCIPATED ALUBM RELEASE At MIDNIGHT.”

Safaree, who recently made headline for a leaked video, was one of the celebrities who reacted to the clip shared by Spice. “Spices new video really inspired me… my next video will be no limits,” Safaree tweeted.

Lil Baby 4PF’s Artist Dirty Tay Denies He Shot 3-Year-Old Boy After Arrest

Black Immigrant Daily News

The content originally appeared on: Urban Islandz

Kentavious Wright, otherwise known as Dirty Tay, a rapper signed to Lil Baby’s 4PF imprint, has been charged for the shooting of a toddler in Atlanta.

The 24-year-old rapper was arrested on August 19 for the shooting which occurred on August 3. Police have not disclosed what led to Wright’s arrest, but he is facing charges of criminal attempt to commit murder, aggravated assault, and first-degree cruelty to children.

Wright is also facing gang-related charges in what sounds like an attempt at being initiated into a gang. According to police, Wright is facing multiple counts of committing crimes. Police say he committed the offenses to gain or increase membership in street gangs, which violates Georgia’s Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act.

According to details of the arrest shared by Fox 5 Atlanta, Wright is accused of shooting 3-year-old Javon Jewell on August 3 at Peters and Chapel Street, where the boy’s father had taken him and another son to get haircuts.

According to details from a police report, the child’s father, Dajuan Jewell, observed a Kia motorcar driving wildly and doing a U-turn as it began to follow them as they left the barber shop. The car then drove up beside him at a stoplight on the passenger side when shots were fired at the occupants, leading to the boy being hit. His other son did not suffer any injury.

Family members of the little boy say that he had a bullet removed from his head and is hospitalized but expected to recover. It’s unclear if his present state of health or if he will have long-term damage.

It appears that Wright, who was being held at Fulton County jail, is now on bond.

On his Instagram account, he issued a strong denial.

“I’m innocent,” he wrote on Instagram Stories. “The news is not always right don’t bash me because of allegations.”

Dirty Tay statement

A bodycam video has been released showing Wright being arrested at a stoplight. The rapper and his girlfriend were both arrested by Atlanta PD after a gun believed to belong to Wright was found in her possession.

Offset Accuses Quality Control Music Of Blackball Amid New Lawsuit

Black Immigrant Daily News

The content originally appeared on: Urban Islandz

Offset is taking his ex-Label Quality Control to court after the Atlanta-based label tried to claim a share of the earnings from his first solo song, “54321,” released last Friday.

Offset, whose real name is Kiari Cephus, does have a deal with Quality Control (QC), but that is only as an artist as part of the rap group Migos with cousins Quavo and Takeoff. There have been recent rumors that the group might have fallen apart as Quavo and Takeoff have now formed their two-person group under the title Unc & Phew, and they have also released new music minus Offset.

In recent days, Offset has teased that his debut solo album is coming and has already released one track and will release another this week. However, the rapper claims that QC improperly tried to claim a share of earnings from his solo career despite not having a deal with them. He reportedly has a deal for his solo career with another label.

According to Radar Online, Offset filed the lawsuit this week against Quality Control Music, where he distinguished himself as a hip hop and rap artist who has “achieved worldwide commercial and critical success” both as a member of Migos and as a solo artist.

The rapper says that he had been under management with QCM, which he refers to as his “former label,” for over a decade and where “Quality Control also collected a sizable proportion of all the money that Offset made through his ingenuity and hard work.”

The lawsuit details Offset’s deal with QC in 2012, which gave the label control over his career and 50% of his profits. It added that the Migos deal is still in place but Offset has been working separately on his solo career since.

“When he came to understand the full ramification of the deal that he entered into, Offset set out to regain control of his solo career (notwithstanding Quality Control’s overreaching deal with Migos as a group, which remains in place.”

The rapper claims that he came to an agreement with QCM in January 2021, where the parties struck a deal for him to own the rights to his solo recording and songwriting. The rapper also said he paid millions to QCM to cut the deal.

However, QCM seems to have reneged on the deal as they tried to claim earnings from his latest solo track, “54321,” produced by Baby Keem.

The Atlanta label has not only claimed ownership of the masters in the song, but they also want ownership of all of his future solo recordings, the lawsuit says. The rapper claims that QCM this week demanded that Motown Records declare that QCM had an ownership interest in the new song. He now pretty much wants his fans to know he owns his music and not the label.

QCM is owned by Kevin “Coach K” Lee and Pierre “Pee” Thomas. On Wednesday, Thomas responded to the lawsuit in a tweet.

“The last lawsuit was filed publicly and dismissed quietly. Let’s see how this one go. Been to real for all this lame shit. Everyone know the real problem,” Thomas wrote on Twitter.

Offset also responded to Thomas with a direct response to the tweet as he claimed that Thomas allegedly blackballed him despite him paying millions to get his solo rights back.

“Ni**as act like im the problem I paid millions to get my rights back Ni**a you black balled me I ain’t said Sh*t one time homie I ain’t spoke to you in 2 years now I drop and you want ya name on my credit?” the rapper wrote in a tweet.

Offset/Twitter

Meanwhile, Offset is getting ready to drop his upcoming track, “Code,” featuring Moneybagg Yo, this Friday, also with Motown Records, with whom he has his solo deal.

Offset had dropped another tweet earlier as he spoke about his solo career. “This new chapter for me is personal,” he tweeted.

Artist Behind AI Rapper FN Meka Criticized Capital Records: ‘That’s Karma’

Black Immigrant Daily News

The content originally appeared on: Urban Islandz

The rapper behind the voice of short-lived Artificial Intelligence rapper FN Meka is speaking out.

Kyle The Hooligan, who says he was the original voice behind FN Meka is accusing Capital Records of cutting him out of a deal and call the downfall of the virtual artist, “karma.” On Tuesday afternoon, Capitol dropped FN Meka, the first robot rapper the label boasted that it signed two weeks ago. The label took the measure after news of the signing on Monday led to major backlash, particularly from the black community, which felt that the virtual rapper’s use of the n-word should be checked, especially if the person behind the Artificial Intelligent being is not black.

Capital Records issued a full apology for offending people as the music released used racist slurs. The AI, which used a human voice to record its raps, had released a new song via Capitol called “Florida Water,” featuring Atlanta rapper Gunna. The label boasted that the AI entity already had millions of fans on Tik Tok and even a larger amount of views on Spotify.

In the statement, the label said it had failed to make the appropriate checks and investigations before signing on to the project. As a result, Capital “severed ties with the FN Meka project, effective immediately.”

“We offer our deepest apologies to the Black community for our insensitivity in signing this project without asking enough questions about equity and the creative process behind it. We thank those who have reached out to us with constructive feedback in the past couple of days — your input was invaluable as we came to the decision to end our association with the project.”

Right after the news went viral that the AI artist secured a label deal and was dropping a song, there was an immediate backlash as many accused the label of using the AI entity to make money, so they don’t have to pay real rappers royalties.

Some also pointed out that black artists have difficulty landing a deal and label backing, especially in a black-founded and driven genre like hip hop.

A pro-black group that is focused on equity in music, Industry Blackout, also found the entire thing racist and offensive as the AI fashioned its speech and mannerisms after black artists. However, it’s unclear if a black person is behind it.

“We find fault in the lack of awareness in how offensive this caricature is. It is a direct insult to the Black community and our culture. An amalgamation of gross stereotypes, appropriative mannerisms that derive from Black artists, complete with slurs infused in lyrics,” Industry Blackout wrote in an open letter posted to social media.

FN Meka was created by Factory New which has a listed founder, Anthony Martini, a Caucasian man. Some Twitter users were not pleased about that information as many referred to the AI as “Digital Blackface”- a white person profiting from black art where otherwise black people continue to suffer from using the same lyrics the AI uses.

Some discussed the current case of collaborators Gunna and Young Thug, who are facing life in jail if convicted on RICO charges. A lot of the evidence proffered by prosecutors comes from their song lyrics.

Martini said in a New York Times article that the AI personality is voiced by a human- “he’s a Black guy,” he said and defended the AI invention as “not this malicious plan of white executives. It’s literally no different from managing a human artist, except that it’s digital.”

He also said that the team behind FN Meka is “actually one of the most diverse teams you can get — I’m the only white person involved.”

Martini did admit, however, that the whole thing, when taken out of context, is worse than it was intended.

Kyle The Hooligan says this is their karma as he spoke out on Instagram.

“So everything going good,” Kyle said. “Next thing I know, n***as just ghosted me. Use my voice, use my sound, use the culture and literally just left me high and dry. I ain’t get a dime off of nothing, and they got record deals, all this stuff. I wasn’t involved in no meetings or none of that, which is f***ed up. So, I’m glad they a*s got canceled ‘cause that’s karma for they a*s ‘cause God don’t play with me. I’m gonna tell you that right now.”

Irv Gotti Talks About Kissing Ashanti, Accused Of Harassment & Predatory Behavior

Black Immigrant Daily News

The content originally appeared on: Urban Islandz

Irv Gotti getting some heat from Ashanti fans after he shared some intimate details into their past relationship on Murder Inc. Story.

Irv Gotti seems to have lots of stories about Ashanti as he discloses in his Murder Inc documentary another intimate moment between him and the “Baby” singer. While sitting on a burgundy settee, the 52-year-old Gotti appears calm and happy as he recalls falling in love with Ashanti while they worked together and eventually sneaking a kiss and butt grab of the “Foolish” artist.

“I’m on my own and Ashanti is coming to the studio every day and our friendship and bond is naturally growing. And she used to wear these juicy sweats and her ass was looking fat, her ass was looking great,” he says, laughing.

“And so one day I was like, ‘yo I’m taking you home’, she said ‘bet cool’ we’re walking to the front door of her crib, she turns to say goodbye, and I just kissed her and grabbed her ass,” he says as he mimicked the motion he did. “It was like, what took you long,” he added.

Gotti’s latest rambling about Ashanti is not sitting well with fans of the singer as this is the second story he has given about the artist in recent weeks.

Irv Gotti, earlier this month, alleged that she and Ashanti had a sexual relationship during her time at the label. In a Drink Champs interview earlier this month, the Murder Inc. co-founder claimed that they made the song ‘Happy” after having sex.

“We just finished sleeping together, or whatever, I’m taking a shower. I’m in the shower, you know, a n****a be creative after [sex] … I think of the whole track in the shower,” he says as he sings the melodies of the song.

“Okay, now it’s time for you to write. Yo, I want the sh*t to be a feel-good joint, like summertime,” he goes on. “The energy, that record came about ’cause of our energy.”

Gotti claimed that their “relationship” helped her career. The label exec has been getting dragged by fans who reminded him that he was married at the time. Ashanti has never addressed Irv Gotti or any of the claims. Gotti also previously shared that he was hurt when he found out that Ashanti and Nelly were dating and that he found out about them while watching a sports event on TV.

Meanwhile, fans criticized the former Murder Inc. boss for his behavior towards Ashanti.

“Seeing the internet realize that 50 Cent was right about Irv Gotti this whole time brings me so much joy,” one person wrote.

“I had NO IDEA Ashanti was being preyed on like this. And the fact that he’s being given the space to speak on her like this is unacceptable,” another said.

“What he is doing is sexual harassment, its disgusting, its predatory and he doesn’t give a fuck. Who knows the blackballing he did behind the scenes to her. Im sick of Irv Gotti, he needs his ass beat,” another person said.

“[Irv Gotti] is a sexual harasser, and gross. There should be a law against what he’s doing to [Ashanti] it’s just not right. She did NOTHING to deserve this ogre talking about and treating her like this. I don’t care who he is!! A woman deserves RESPECT!! #IrvGotti,” another said.

Megan Thee Stallion Motion Approved To Depose J Prince & Carl Crawford

Black Immigrant Daily News

The content originally appeared on: Urban Islandz

Megan Thee Stallion scores another legan win over Carl Crawford, J Prince, and their label 1501 Cert.

The Houston rapper’s contract dispute case is underway as a court on Wednesday granted the rapper a mini win and ordered that 1501 Certified Entertainment’s Carl Crawford and Rap-A-lot founder and 1501 business partner, J Prince are to give depositions, TMZ reported.

Megan Thee Stallion upped the ante on Tuesday (August 23) when she amended her current lawsuit and requested $1 million in damages for royalties and other payments, as well as a declaration that she had completed her obligations to produce four albums under the agreement with 1501 Certified Entertainment and that contract has officially ended.

1501 Certified’s J Prince and Crawford, however, dispute that Megan has completed her obligations as they do not consider her last two projects as “albums” as defined by the contract. They also claim that Megan owes them millions for monies they claim to have spent to develop her career before she was allegedly poached by Roc Nation.

However, Megan and her attorneys are taking the label executives to task and were successful in being granted an order from the court forcing the men to give depositions and account for every dime they claim they spent on the rapper or collected on her behalf.

Megan’s determination to end her relationship with 1501 Certified Ent saw a greater push after last week’s release of her fourth project, Traumazine.

On Tuesday, her new filings requested that the court allow her lawyers to question Crawford and Prince. The dates for the depositions have been set for J Prince to go first on October 24 and Crawford on October 25.

The location of the deposition would be in Houston, and the proceedings are to be recorded on video. A trial date has not been set as yet.

Megan’s lawsuit against the label is a master chess stroke and is also a first among artists who would usually stay in the label deal and work around it. However, the Houston rapper is not letting the label slide as she claims that she spent all of the money to produce and put her music out, while 1501 basically collected 60% of her earnings.

On Tuesday, both Crawford and J Prince lashed out at Megan’s move, with Prince calling the deal “generous” by industry standards and even accusing the Jay-Z-owned Roc Nation is influencing the artist.

“The truth is that Carl discovered, developed and fully financed MTS early in her career which led to a life changing distribution agreement for her with 300 Entertainment,” Prince said.

“From 1501’s earliest agreement with Megan, long before MTS [Megan Thee Stallion] was a household name; 1501 generously agreed to give Megan 40% of its PROFITS which is substantially more than the customary record royalty that a new artist receives from a record label,” J Prince wrote in a lengthy statement of Instagram. “Any attempt by MTS [Megan Thee Stallion] or RN [Roc Nation] to portray a contract that provides a new unknown artist with 40% of the label’s PROFITS as unconscionable or unfair is blatantly false and contrary to the customs or norms in the music industry.”

Crawford also had his petty two-bits to offer to the conversation as he sought to discredit Megan by claiming that she is not from Houston, although the rapper has always said she was born in San Antonio but raised in Houston.

Megan had also responded to the two label executives with her own incendiary responses where she denied that 1501 Certified developed her as an artist and instead pointed out that she is the only reason that label is successful as they were virtually unknown before her.

She also challenged the men to beat her in court if their claims were true. It seems that Megan has won this round, but Prince and Crawford are not going down without a fight so expect this legal battle between artist and label to play out in the courts as well as the public domain.

Carl Crawford and J. Prince have not responded to the latest development.

Drake Spotted Out With 22-Year-Old “Munch” Rapper Ice Spice In Toronto

Black Immigrant Daily News

The content originally appeared on: Urban Islandz

Drake isn’t wasting time as he appears to be spending time with 22-year-old Bronx rapper Ice Spice just days after he first jumped into her DMs to signal that he liked her music.

A video hit the internet on Tuesday night showing the Canadian rapper, along with Ice Spice and another male friend, out at a concert. This comes just days after she shared a DM from Drake where he signaled that he liked her music.

The “Name of Love” artist was virtually unknown until it was reported that Drake hit her up. Of course, the blogs are always keeping an eye out for Drizzy news as he is reportedly very single.

The 35-year-old OVO rapper recently dropped her track “Munch (Feelin’ U)” along with a music video that drew praise from Drake.

She reposted the 6God’s messages to her, which read, “That ‘Munch’ and your ‘On The Radar’ freestyle hard [as f***],” Drizzy wrote. “Imma play em on our radio show.”

In the meantime, fans online were not surprised at the link-up, which showed Drake singing along and enjoying the music at the concert at the Budweiser Stage. Ice Spice also shared a video on Instagram showing her exiting a private jet in bell bottom pants and a cropped top. The Dominican artiste, whose signature look is a head full of scarlet curls, walks off looking stunning.

Online, fans speculated that the two rappers might not be dating but that Drake might have signed her. “We all know why drake signed icespice,” one person wrote. “Ice Spice getting the Jack Harlow treatment from Drake, she getting a corporate push rn outta nowhere,” another wrote.

“Don’t try pushin that ice spice shorty or whatever her name is cause Drake co-signed it, that nigga signed Smiley lol she bad but she BAD….. at rappin,” another added.

Meanwhile, while he is seen with Ice Spice, there are speculations about the Toronto rapper’s dating life as he was recently spotted yachting with 20-year-old influencer Suede Brooks.

If anything, though, Drake managed to keep his son a secret for a long time, so who knows, maybe he might be super private about his love life too, so there is nothing to it being seen with Ice Spice.
