Tropical Storm Fiona steaming towards Puerto Rico and Dominican Republic

While maximum sustained winds associated with Tropical Storm Fiona are currently only 60 mph, it is possible that Fiona could get stronger and become a hurricane as it approaches the southern or eastern coast of the Dominican Republic Sunday night and Monday.

Interests in Puerto Rico and Virgin Islands are also encouraged to stay vigilant as Tropical Storm Fiona is expected to approach the south of these islands sometime on Saturday where dangerous swells, heavy rainfall, storm surge and flooding is possible.

As a result of the foregoing, a Hurricane Watch is in effect for Puerto Rico, including Vieques and Culebra.

A Tropical Storm Warning is also in effect for the following:
