The US National Hurricane Centre has forecast that sub-tropical storm Nicole will make a transition to become a tropical storm later today.
Nicole is expected to either be a hurricane or close to it by Wednesday night while moving near the northwestern Bahamas.
At 7am the storm’s centre of circulation was located 615 KM east northeast of the northwestern Bahamian islands, according to the NHC forecast.
Nicole has maximum sustained winds that are near 50 mph (80 km/h).

NHC said winds of 40 mph extend outward up to 380 miles (610 km) from the centre.
A Hurricane Warning is in effect for The Abacos Islands, Berry Islands, Bimini and Grand Bahama Island.
A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Andros Island, New Providence and Eleuthera.
Nicole is the 14th named storm of the 2022 Atlantic Hurricane Season.
