Tropical Storm Fiona to hit Leeward Islands Friday night Loop Cayman Islands

Tropical Storm Fiona

The National Hurricane Center forecast puts Tropical Storm Fiona to the northern area of the Leeward Islands tonight.

With tropical-storm-force winds extending outward up to 125 miles from the center, this means heavy rains, storm surge and swells for the Leeward Islands.

After passing through the Leeward Islands in the region of 50 to 60 mph, Tropical Storm Fiona is expected to impact the Virgin Islands, Turks and Caicos, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Haiti.

As Fiona approaches Haiti, different computer models suggest that the storm may start to turn north.

However, these are just projections, which may change at any time.

In the meantime, a Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for:

Antigua, Barbuda, St. Kitts, Nevis, Montserrat, and AnguillaSaba and St. EustatiusSt. MaartenGuadeloupe, St. Barthelemy, and St. Martin

A Tropical Storm Watch is in effect for:
