The National Hurricane Center reported on Tuesday morning that Hurricane Ian intensified as a category 3 hurricane, with maximum sustained winds in the region of 125 mph.

As Hurricane Ian moves in a northerly or north-north-west direction, it is expected to impact western Cuba, in particular, the province of Pinar del R?o. This may include significant storm surge, swells, wind and rainfall.

In preparation for the impact, the Provincial Electric Company of Pinar del R?o has reportedly cut service to all customers in that province. This is according to a report from TelePinar.

On its way out of Cuba, Hurricane Ian is expected to continue strengthening, then weakening before hitting Florida.

As a result of the foregoing, the below watches and warnings are in effect.

A Hurricane Warning is in effect for:

Cuban provinces of Isla de Juventud, Pinar del Rio, and ArtemisaBonita Beach to the Anclote River, including Tampa BayDry Tortugas

A Storm Surge Warning is in effect for:

Anclote River southward to FlamingoTampa Bay

A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for:

Cuban provinces of La Habana, Mayabeque, and MatanzasLower Florida Keys from Seven Mile Bridge westward to Key WestFlamingo to Bonita BeachSuwannee River to the Anclote RiverVolusia/Brevard County Line south to Jupiter InletLake Okeechobee

A Storm Surge Watch is in effect for:

A Hurricane Watch is in effect for North of Anclote River to the Suwannee River.

A Tropical Storm Watch is in effect for:

North of the Suwannee River to Indian PassAltamaha Sound to Volusia/Brevard County lineDeerfield Beach to Jupiter Inlet

In addition to the foregoing, the National Hurricane Center said that tornadoes are possible today through Wednesday across the Florida Keys and the southern and central Florida Peninsula.
