UPDATE: Fatality reported in Eastern Avenue car crash Loop Cayman Islands

Following a report from Radio Cayman this morning, the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS) have now formally confirmed that a 20-year-old woman has died as a result of a single-vehicle collision on Eastern Avenue near Shedden Road.

According to the RCIPS, the accident occurred shortly before 3:40am this morning and involved a total of four persons. In addition to the unfortunate passing of a 20-year-old woman, three other occupants were reported injured, with two in serious condition.

The south end of Eastern Avenue, between Shedden Road and Champion House Restaurant, was temporarily closed but has now been reopened.

The matter is under investigation and anyone who may have witnessed the incident or have any information is encouraged to call the Traffic and Roads Policing Unit at 649-6254 or the George Town Police Station at 949-4222.

Radio Cayman reported that they learned of a single vehicle collision this morning (August 8, 2022) at the junction of Eastern Avenue and Shedden Road.

The scene of the collision, described as a “serious crash,” was attended by emergency services following a 911 call around 3:30am. Multiple injuries were reported, however, Radio Cayman said they were awaiting official word from the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service to confirm the details.
